I have an American Standard Cadet Pressure Assisted toilet that uses 1.6 gpf in my home. It is a new style from 2010-present. It works really well.

Everyone likes my American Standard because it is basic economical toilet that works well, is quiet and saves on water and sewage bills.

A lot of these tests are not realistic as they don't use materials that are sticky like paper and waste. That is in fact what a toilet is going to be flushing its entire life. I think there were actually some pretty good 1.6 gpf toilets made in the 90s and early 2000s. The Kohler Wellworth Ingenium being one of the best from the U.S.
There are some decent 1.28 gpf toilets made today with the very best being Toto, IMO. However, there are plenty of others you can buy that are less expensive and far inferior. You may think you are doing yourself a favor by replacing an old toilet that uses more water but you may want to rethink that for several reasons:
    1. The biggest thing that almost nobody considers with low flow toilets is drain line carry. Newer toilets use so little water that there is simply not enough to carry waste away to the sewer. Just because your toilet flushes everything away doesn't mean it's gone for good. I've seen plenty of instances where sewers have backed up due to the toilets just barely flushing everything away so the wet, sticky paper starts backing up in the drain from lack of water flow. Then you've got yourself a hole new problem. This was a far less common issue with older toilets.
    2. Newer toilets have much lower water lines than older ones. This is by design so they siphon very quickly with little water. This allows for waste to stick to the bowl much easier because there is only water around when the toilet is flushed. Older toilets by comparison usually had much higher water lines. Companies didn't necessarily focus on bowl rinse as much as they do now because they didn't have to. Toilets naturally rinsed much better due to using more water.
    3. Most older toilets used rubber flappers which are much cheaper to replace compared to the complicated flush valves of today that often leak after just a few years or less or break due to using plastic parts.
    4. Many people that have older toilets and especially septics don't necessarily flush after every use. Obviously they would with solid waste but it was common practice with just liquid waste to flush only after several uses. This obviously saves water compared to flushing after every use or flushing a low flow toilet several times per use. (Which can be necessary with some toilets)
These are some things to consider if you've been thinking about replacing an older toilet that is in working order. If you're renovating your house and need to for the sake of color alone, I get it. If possible though, unless you have one of the older blue or purple color toilets, consider color matching to your older fixture as it may save you money in plumbing costs down the road. Quality control was a lot better when that toilet was made compared to today. If you're going to buy a new toilet, DO NOT cheap out. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have installed toilets myself and talked to plumbers regarding newer fixtures.

Well I would perfer the Mansfield Over the Delta Because Delta clogs easily with the Mansfield. Vintage toilets that are 2 Gallons, 3.5 Gallons, 5 Gallons, 7 Gallons and 10 Gallons of water dont clog often.
