Today is the first chapter in our bisexual journey, but first we need to know what makes us bisexual and how bisexuality can be viewed in many different ways. We cover things like the Kinsey scale and where your sexuality might fall on that scale, we also cover sexuality like bi-curiosity and bi-romantic . I also talk about how queer experience whether your gay , hetero or bisexual can also be an important part of growing as a person and doesn't have to be all defining.

I would like to know how was the introduction of your straight couple in the queer world? And if she has suffered some comments from people because of you. 6 months ago I told my couple Im bi and in the beginning she didn't accept it very well but now she has accepted. But its still a secret for the rest.
I had always considered myself a straight female (always enjoyed dating men)
until I found myself attracted to another girl in college. I consulted the Kinsey Scale and fell under 1-2 and was hella confused. Over the years I’ve occasionally been really attracted to a woman, but mostly attracted to men. I thought maybe I was just bi-curious, because in the 90s, bisexuality just wasn’t a legitimate thing in my world, and there was no representation in media whatsoever. My family was also very homophobic, so I didn’t feel comfortable exploring when I was younger.
Now in my 40s, I’m finally realizing, and shows like Heartstopper and this video kind of confirmed for me that…yeah, I definitely fall somewhere within the bisexual sphere, and definitely the LGBTQ+ umbrella, bc one thing I know for sure is that I am absolutely not 100% straight. Yeesh, you think it would be easier to figure out! Love your videos.
Well it's takes time some a little more then others but accepting and being happy is the most important thing I'm glad my videos could help and I'm glad heartstopper could to.

I appreciate that you mention that we are always developing and sexuality is fluid because I always labelled myself as straight, but with the years and becoming more mature I feel that a relationship is more than sex and i could have a conexión with a woman, fall in love and feel attracted to her because I love her if that makes sense, but I don't consider myself bi because I'm not attracted to women in general. We are always evolving.
Also my issue with the Kinsley Scale is that some of the questions tell you if you find women attractive so I got a 1 or 2 I think.
It might be utopic but I wish we lived in a world where we didn't need labels and we could just be with whoever we wanted.
In truth you don't need a label if you don't want use one just do what makes you happy
I find it ironic that at the same time people are saying we shouldn't have any labels people are coming up with infinite new labels to describe themselves with
LIVING for The Big Book of Bisexuality. Also, the way you prepped stuff made me realise we want to see more DIY Content.
Definitely a 2 on the scale, Bi-romatic Demisexual right here and you explained it perfectly! Struggled with my sexuality for years before I decided to just drop all my walls and be happy with who I am. Loved this video!

When I was in 4th grade I remember messaging you and you helped me come out to my family. I’m about to be a freshman in highschool soon and I’m fully out and accepted. So I want to thank you for being part of my journey and helping me, even if you don’t remember.
Trying to figure out my sexuality while also being on the ace spectrum was a journey. Always interpreted crush vibes on girls as friendship. Didn't help that I'm masc attracted, which not as many women out of 😅
Its can be difficult but sharing our stories is how we learn to accept one another

I attended BiCon in 1999 held at Harvard University. I thought with an acknowledgement from EGALE that Bi-invisibility was on its way to a well deserved grave. I'm 65 years old and I went through the exact same doubt and confusion, that you went through so many decades later means we still have work to do. BTW I recommend Frtiz Klien Psychiatrist as a resource he's authored a number of books with studies and talking with bisexuals.
I am an absolute 6. I like that you have finally taught me exactly what the Kensey scale is. I always knew about it. I had a rough idea what it is. But, now I truly understand it.

I've always struggled to remember which end is which - this video helps I think, also not seen the X column there before... The Kinsey scale is a little limiting in some ways, being only a single snapshot and doesn't demonstrate that people can shift over time, that attraction can be different for different types of attraction (though Courtney does show that romantic/sexual attractions can be different, an idea which came more out of asexual/aromantic communities and is known as the split attraction model - and has been applied to bisexuality to provide a concept for maybe romantic attraction being one orientation and sexual attraction a different one, as far as someone knows at that time anyway).
Could do a video on the Klein grid and why it was invented (and even that can't possibly include as many axis of bi identities and time etc. as there are, really)

Thank you so much for saying that being bisexual doesn't mean that you have be attracted to basically everyone. I want to say I lean more towards a 1 or 2 on the Kinsey scale but I still see myself as bisexual, absolutely. A few years ago, I used to identify as "straight, but girls are hot sometimes." It took me a while to figure out what that actually meant and for me to feel comfortable identifying as bi.

I went through the exact same thing, as a woman, since I was a teenager. My favorite things to say about it, somewhat tongue in cheek: Being bi, I always have a date on Saturday night. And that I am half gay, half straight. Thank you for the videos!

George Michael did an interview many years ago (I think it was with Michael Parkinson) which opened my eyes a lot to sexuality. He said that he felt that his sexuality was very likely bisexual as he'd always been attracted to, and enjoyed sex with both men and women, but he identified as gay because he'd only ever developed deep feelings, emotional attachments, and fallen in love with men.
Then he can’t label himself gay, he was bi.

I'm a girl i've been in relationships with both girls and guys
I like both bodies and feel romantically attracted to them.but it's only in theory😂 when i actually start going out with someone it's like i don't feel the thing that i supposed to felt with them both romantically and sexually and it just cofuses me because i defentelly have crushes both genders

Hey! Maybe you are lithromantic or frayromantic or demiromantic. These are the first labels that came to my mind when I read your comment. If you are interested in specific labels you could do some research about aroace spectrum and its microlabels (But I'm not trying to put a label on you, it's your choice and you are the only one who can do it ❤)

Yeah, everyone is different. I think sometimes sexuality can be to specified, but who we are now will be completely different to who we are in 10,20 even 30 years.

Rey, you don't have to figure it out now! You don't even have to label it. Most people I know who are bisexual* go through that questioning because of the ubiquitous level of biphobia in society that most of us have grown up with. Theres some recent good non-fiction books about bisexuality like Jen Winston's one, Lo Shearing's Bi the Way, one by Dr. Julia Shaw, and Meg-John Barker has a number of good books about queerness and life being non-binary in general.
* thats quite a few of my friends, and lots and lots of people in my large bi community social group I run - yes those groups exist, look up one near you if you think meeting lots of other bi people might help figure it out, or look for online bi groups; or of course there are LGBT groups but not all of them are as accepting of bisexuality all the time and can be biphobic and try to force bi people to either not be there or to identify as gay/lesbian instead - but mostly they're much better than that, just might be a few less-accepting people at some events sometimes if its an average group, hence why I run my own bi group (pansexual/other m-spec identities welcome too)

Thats less of question more of statement, if your attracted to men and women then yeah your bi but if you can't see yourself having relations with a women or being in a relationship with a women then I would say you lean more towards being gay but bi doesn't necessarily mean that your attracted to just men and women there are a plethora of gender it just means your attracted to more then 1.
