Thank you Emilie. Nice video. I never use my OM-5 for video, so I changed my "record" button to check my White Balance settings. So now, on my camera body, the 3 buttons on the right are (1) Exposure Compensation (2) White Balance and (3) ISO. This makes it much more simple for me.
Hello Emilie ! Chouette video ! Merci pour les conseils !!! Mise en oeuvre realisée. Bravo pour tes videos, la simplicité, le naturel, l'efficacité !!!
Useful clip Emilie. This will apply to my two EM-1 m3 cameras. The only slight issue I have is using the screen. Due to my dodgy eye sight I rarely use the screen so have to use the eye piece 🤨😏😉
Thanks SO much for this video. I just bought the OM-5 today and have been a little overwhelmed by all of the new features (over my EM5 mkiii). The thing you mentioned about the Star Menu is something I need to learn more about...especially for the Starry Sky AF. I hope to be able to use this feature without having to search the extensive menu that Olympus has! Might you have a separate video on the Star Menu by chance? Thanks again for this video that I will be watching a few times to try and remember all of your tips.
Hi Emilie, great content. I also set the Fn Lever Function to mode2 with focus modes (⚙️➡️ A1 ➡️ AEL/AFL) in the default settings of S3/C4. This gives me autofocus on the shutter button normally, but back button focus on the AEL/AFL button when I need it. I notice you’re using the Peak Design Capture clip with your OM-5. There are some examples of baseplate failures in the E-M5 Mark III (tripod socket ripping out) that have been linked to using the Capture clip and I’m wondering if you can comment on how it’s going for you with the, externally identical, OM-5? Do you know if OM System really did improve the construction, as has been suggested on DP Review? I have a Capture clip and would love to use it with my OM-5 but haven’t plucked up the courage yet!
I like to use one of the buttons for custom and set it up so the settings are on for high resolution mode. Since there isn’t a choice for just high resolution mode for the buttons. Would love to see a firmware update so you could use it like the other switch. Than I would make that switch the power on and off switch instead.
Emilie, many thanks for this (and other) OM 5 videos. I've applied those recommendations that suit my needs. But I'm left with a problem and having wandered the menu maize several times I can find no solution. I may have nudges or misapplied one of your suggestions. Problem: When I take what I think will be single photo (S-AF) I frequently get six or more copies of the same image. I also find images are taken when I lower the camera to look around for another shot. I've probably inadvertently set something wrongly. I'd be very grateful for you help. Stay well.
Not sure if you have resolved your issue, but S-AF is an auto focus type not a single photo. Your issue sounds like it may be a drive type setting. You may want to see if you have any burst modes set or possibly a bracketing option tuned on. If you can't find any, you may want to reset settings back to default and start over again. Good luck.
I agree with what @mukilteosailor said. Make sure to set your drive mode to single shot if that is what you want. To do so, download the OM-5 and it is on page 101
Thanks a lot Emilie for this videos I bought OM5 last year and no experience nothing. Please can make more details video for manual setting, I mean how to choose buttons ( D,Auto…etc.) and then step to step more details explain to us I will be waiting
Hmmm...is there another step to show the highlights and shadows? I followed all of your steps in the D1 menu on my OM5, but don't see highlights/shadows in the live view, not even with the shutter half-pressed.
I had the same issue initially, but then found I was on the wrong info screen. If you repeatedly press the 'INFO' button (above and to the right of the arrow pad) you can go through the different info options on the screen (no info / highlights and shadows / level gauge / normal info). You'll see the details change on the live view display and just stop on the one that shows the highlights and shadows. Easier to see if you have the exposure compensation set much too high or low and you'll see the highlights or shadows show up in red or blue then.
Thank you, I have just purchased the OM-5 and this was very helpful.

Merci beaucoup!
I don’t own a OM5 (yet) but still enjoyed! Lens on the camera did make the camera set up look a bit big for a small system.
Thanks for this Ive just brought one , very helpful

To be able to view same settings as the live view in the EVF you need to set the EVF setting to 3
Do you have an initial set up video
I need to make one
Hi Emily, how do I create different folders in camera with om5 ?
Thank you

Yes definitely!
