How is compared with Zoom H1esentials or other models?

I found the whole transition from 4/3 to MFT - as far as lenses are concerned - completely underwhelming. It's taken many years for Oly to start coming out with glass that genuinely impresses, rather than just building down for the mantra of 'size and weight'. Hopefully this 90 and some of what they've also done at the wider end is a sign that things have really changed.

Was up in Ivalo, Finland for the aurora, followed your suggestion for a Time-Lapse. Took 5 series of 100 shots each. Could not figure out how to process in OM Workspace, so.. processes them all in Lightroom Classic. Finally was able to put together my video in Workspace . Really easy. I now have 6 videos from the 500 shots. Made the base video at 5 FPS. The finals are exported at 15FPS, Normal, Fine and Super Fine and 30FPS , Normal , Fine and Super Fine. Don’t see any real difference in the 6 videos. Are these the best export setting or should I be trying other options? My next step will be to take the video into iMovie and add headers, credits, breaks, transitions and music. May try some addition editing on the video tones , etc. Can you provide suggestions and/or guidance on successful options?

As a biologist working in Guam (wet and humid most days), I almost always purchase gear with weatherproofing. If I'm on the water, I have waterproof gear bags.

None of the cameras I own list an IP rating in their specs, except my Olympus TG-6, which, combining IPx8 and IP6x in the specs is IP68. I tried to find an IP rating for the OM System OM1 Mk2 and turned up nothing (It's well hidden, if there). My Lumix cameras, likewise, do not list an IP rating in their specs, only that they are water and dust resistant.

Bonjour Émilie, j'ai fait de la photo de ville hier avec mon TG-7, de nuit et sous la pluie, et j'ai raté plusieurs photos car je ne me suis pas aperçue qu'il y a avait des gouttes d'eau sur l'objectif !! Maintenant je l'essuierai régulièrement 😃

What lovely snow! We just got some here in Boston. I took my first "snow photos" of the year yesterday. Your point about the camera you don't use is well taken. My camera is "weather sealed" (whatever Nikon means by that), but my lenses are not. I decided that my gear is merely a tool, to be used any place I want to make a photo. I bring it to the beach, in rain or snow, anything as long as I can afford to repair or replace it. I try to choose e.g. my 80-200 internally focussing lens that won't "inhale" air instead of my 18-200 telescoping zoom, but ultimately my photo gear is ready to serve. I sure wish my camera system had the weather proofing of OM System, but pure stubbornness fills the gap. 😀 🏔🏖🏕

How do I find what the IP rating is for my camera?

Thanks for explaining the two numbers in IP rating. Until now, I guessed that IP 50 is better than IP 49. Now I know!

I have the 3 of them and I am definitely keeping the 3 of them. All of them serve a purpose. I get great telephoto shots with the 30mm macro and the 60mm is amazing for portrait shots as well. The 90 is superb for macro.

the Om-system camera is the Labrador among camera brands. A Labrador dog is also not averse to water, this also applies to Om-system camera’s ❤️👍👏👏😇

Perhaps it is challenging and costly to manufacture

Interesting clip for indoor photography Emilie. I may have a go with camera movement. First I need to make a prototype piece of equipment. Luckily I have a room in my house to set this up. Thanks Emilie, I finally got it when you described Manual and moving the Dial to 1:1 and letting go and DO Not touch the Autofocus button or I will lose the 1:1! I saved this for later to get your customized Buttons. I appreciated you demonstrating the back and forth movements to acquire focus.

I am a Mac user, do you have any alternatives over Adobe that one can use, Adobe is expensive and it’s only subscription base, I calculated the basic plan would cost over five years that only has the 25 GB cloud storage you cost a little over $900.00 Canadian or slightly more depending on inflation over five year periods, to have a basic plan with Lightroom and Lightroom, classic and Photoshop, for the one that comes with one terabyte of cloud storage over five year It will cost Canadian photographer around around $1800 Canadian, for professional that is a business expense, but for advanced hobbies, that’s doing it for the love of photography that is expensive.

This is a fantastic camera. I have some Nikon cameras, including some FF ones. But the convenience of the very small size of the camera and the lenses really is a big advantage when travelling. When traveling to Japan / Korea, I took 3 lenses : 20mm f1.7, 45mm f1.8 and the standard 12-32mm lens. I was surprised how good all my photos turned out. Of course, we cannot compare with a Nikon D750 and a high quality lens, but it's so fantastic to travel so lightly! And yes, a Pen F mark2 would be fantastic (better sensor, more video modes including 4k,...)

J'aime beaucoup l'idée du Light painting à la maison !! En plus je peux le faire avec mon OM-5 ET mon TG-7, qui rend une excellente image en grand-angle. D'ailleurs pour rester hors-sujet 😂j'ai comparé les images rendues par l'OM-5 et le TG-7 : quand on ne zoome pas du tout sur le TG-7, il fait quasi aussi bien que l'OM-5, et le filtre Dramatic Tones II peut même rendre MIEUX que sur l'OM-5 !!! Mais le TG-7 perd en qualité dès qu'on zoome... Merci pour ces excellentes idées !

Thanks for the creative ideas 👍 I would also recommend to download the more advanced manual in PDF format. Read it and learn more about your camera. I know, boring stuff... I prefer to always be outdoor except when the wind is too hard. I say that my camera drive me outdoor. But it's not necessarily to come home with a bunch of photos. As always, keep up the great work!

What a delightful video! I was out taking photos on a rainy Thanksgiving morning, had a few hours to myself but my camera (unlike OM System) doesn't have weather tight lenses. This is a perfect way to practice macro and...painting with light is so much fun! For painting, I got some colored "gel" plastic strips from a lighting store, to put over a flashlight lens. In a very dark room, set the ISO very low and "bulb" shutter timer, then paint part of the image in one color, switch out for another color and paint again, and so on. It takes some trial and error to get the exposure right. I do some tests, then set a timer for how long I have to paint, and when the timer sounds, press the shutter release to end the image. For a duration like 90 seconds, a few seconds either way doesn't mess the exposure. Maybe some cameras have a way to stack exposures to make this easier.

Great video. Could you explain what a stop is? I get confused when people say the exposure should be plus one stop or down a stop. It's especially confusing with exposure compensation. Thanks

Thank you Emily. Great images. I have a OM Macro 60mm F2.8 lens. I am relatively new to my OM-1 Mark II Camera and gear. I love my 60mm Macro but was disappointed it can't take the 2x teleconverter. Would you recommend the Raynox DCR250 snap on filter for 2.5 magnification, or something else? I am still learning how to use my camera fully and don't want to get the OM 90mm Macro lens at this time.
