I'd kill for a Mini Samurai. I want the PADI Samurai so badly, but the 48 mm lug to lug is close to pushing it for my wrist size. Would absolutely love a 40 mm diameter PADI Mini Samurai. Would be my dream Seiko diver.

Seiko really needs to get with the program and start offering more smaller-sized divers. Most of what they offer is oversized.
The Samurai Blue Lagoon is certainly a big watch, but it isn't too large for my 6,5 - 6, 75 " wrist. It is large, but not so much.

the snzd15 has a similar angularly sculpted case and a waffle dial just like the samurai. i laughingly call it my black mini samurai haha

The mini Turtle would have been a winner if they kept the design exactly the same as the full size Turtle and just made it smaller.

I like em. The mini looked to be the perfect size for your wrist. It also seems that bezel and chapter rings line up. I hope we see more 40-42mm divers from Seiko.

Funny how people hate on the Cyclops feature: the first *good* diver I ever had was a Hamilton Atlantis II, which, as memory tells me, had a Cyclops magnifier, and I thought it was a terrific feature. Given the watches I've suffered owning with tiny, RECESSED, non-magnified date windows (Citizen, I'm lookin' at you), Cyclops is the proverbial godsend, haters be damned. I'd just as soon live without a day/date complication, but if it's included, let's not make it tortuous to use.
And: YES, smaller watches FTW. I thought the trend toward bigger wrist-iron jumped the shark in the late 90s with the IWC Portuguesers, but I was obviously wrong.
I might be the only one saying it, but I appreciate and buy smaller watches exclusively. Thanks, Marc!

I change my opinion of turtle after I tried it on my wrist. First I thought 45 mm too big for my 16 cm wrist but, after I put it on it looked very cool!!! Definitely try to put turtle on your wrist, first

Yeah same here my wrist is about 6.5" and it fits ok, albeit on the bigger side, but it fits for sure.

They definitely made the mini turtle different from its bigger brother and more its own thing, for better or worse. I wonder if their market analysis detected the recent sub homage trend and that was behind the cyclops and 3:00 crown. Personally I'm not a fan of those changes, nor the small crown with no guards. If it was an actual mini turtle I'd be more interested.
Really like your videos Mark very interesting and informative I bought a 007 the other day after deliberating for many years I always ended up buying something else like a flightmaster but after watching your channel I finally bought one and I'm really pleased with it. Keep up the the good work.

Love your reviews bro... I was actually waiting for this one, as a small wristed fellow, the mini turtle is almost the Seiko diver that was meant to be... Hopefully demand will be solid and we'll get a lot of after market goodies as with the standard turtles.

I still prefer the original Turtle even though it's a bit too big for my wrist. It looks better, more simple, no cyclops, and the crown is protected.

First time I saw this, I didn't like it. Fast forward 6 months, I want it over my SKX.
If the left the cyclops off and made the hands and markers the same as the 6105 this would be my dream watch

Thanks for the review . I like the mini turtle . If they would come out with a nice popping blue color I'd pick me up a pair . Also they should have put the crown at 4 o'clock. Seiko can take my money if they do those upgrades
I love the scale of the mini, though do not like the cyclops addition whatsoever. A crystal swap will rectify that however. Great comparison to show the difference to the ‘daddy’ turtle !

The mini turtle somehow does not appear as a more rounded product in looks compared to the SKX or new 2019 5 series. The case body is asymmetrical to the bezel and protrudes outside while for SKX both are symmetrical. In fact most divers will have body and bezel symmetrical. Secondly the U-style lume markers not being in a circle shape make the watch dial look odd. Thirdly the number markings on the bezel are a bit on the larger side compared to SKX and makes the watch appropriate only for sporty wear. The SKX can be worn anywear.

Can someone explain the cyclops hate? I always liked them on Rolex's but never owned a cyclops crystal myself. I think it looks great.
I don't mind either way; personal taste I guess.
I don’t understand either. I’m looking forward to getting this watch, in part because of the cyclops. Besides all the other gray things about it, the cyclops will help me when I check the date one hundred times a day, I won’t have to raise my arm all the way up to eye level!
VectorAero personal taste, for me it stops me buying a watch- & I wish Seiko would produce divers without a date at all. To each their own 😉
Hated them when young. Now in my 40s and need reading glasses I love them on dates watches.
It is like a big pimple on the crystal, and exaggerates even more the symmetry being ruined by the date

That Rolex and Omega fit you well, nice choices. Edit: As I look at the Baby T more and more, it doesn't seem to maintain the proportions of case to bezel size that the regular T does. The Baby T seems awkward, as if the bezel should perhaps be about 40mm, instead of 42.3. I'm also disappointed by the indices on the Baby T, they should have kept the circles, as well as the crown at the 4 o'clock position. Perhaps there will be a future update to the model....
Looks like applied indices as well. I would buy a date less version of this watch. I have a SRPA21 still in the box, I thought it would displace my SKX009, but I am not selling my SKX009.

As a guy with the smallest wrists ever, these mini turtles are a godsend. Marc, will you have the PADI mini turtle in stock too? I always thought that one looked sharp.

Damn, should have waited. I have the regular turtle and it does fit my wrist, but still looks too big, I wish we could have a skx013 with 4r36
I wish they would bring out a proper midsized upgrade to the skx013. 42mm is still very much a 'full sized' diver.
Have never been a massive fan of the lack of a crown guard on the turtles, personally I consider that more of a feature on a beater watch than hacking & manual wind.

I love how the turtle looks but I have a smaller wrist and I already have an skx007. The mini turtle looks way too similar to the 007 for me to consider picking it up. Oh well

They're only small compared to the more recent dinner plate trend. I have a Seiko sports chrono 150 from mid 90s that is small even compared to mini turtle. That said I do like the large watches.

The cyclops has grown on me. I think it’s hidden better because it’s round and I like that there is no lumed marker under the cyclops. Yes I too would prefer it without the cyclops but it’s certainly something I could live with. Not a deal breaker. Also wish the crown was more recessed into the case. But nice to see Seiko making a smaller Diver for once.
Mr. Long Island Watch, why is this referred to as a smaller watch if it has the same case size (43mm) as the SKX007? I've never heard the SKX007 referred to as a small watch for small wrists. Please explain.
Hi Marc, struggling between the MIni Turtle SBDY085 and the SRP777. Size seems to be the main difference as many specs are the same it seems. The red accents on the 085 are nice. I have a 7 and a quarter inch wrist. Which way would you go? Thanks!

Thanks for comparing with the full size turtles. Since they redesigned the dial, I wish Seiko would've redesigned the second hand to put the *lollipop* on the correct side!
Bezel looks better than the terrible turtle SRP777 bezel. On the SRPa21, bezel is stiff, slippery, and looks like shiny christmas ornament. (The design of bezel indentations is important).
Marc, are the baby turtle bezel numbers slightly larger on the baby bezel? (May be my imagination.)
I think the full size turtle looks fine on your wrist. I just wish the turtle was thinner, without the somewhat protruding case back that ruins the slight curvature of the turtle case (it appears curved to rest nicely on the wrist, but the caseback causes a pedestal effect that works against the wrist-fitting turtle shape). My 2 cents - YMMV
way to big for a mini version, why not make a 40mm for small wrists? 42mm is still a large watch

Oh hi Mark, do you still happen to have access to a Spork? If yes, do you know if the new 20mm rubber is a usable replacement for the stiffmeister of a strap that the watch has out of the box? Not sure of the lugs will clear.

I like it a lot except for one thing -- the seconds hand has lume on the counterbalance, not the time keeping side of the hand. That seems really stupid. So, if you're reading it in the dark, you'll be 30 seconds off
Mini is cool. What does Seiko have in the Diver space that's 6R and Sapphire? 42mm or less?

A shame they did not do that with the first Turtle already. 'Cause the watch is pretty damn perfect besides beeing a tad on the big side.

Pls explain sir, I bought a Padi mini turtle pepsi colour with the wave dial. But I realised it was a "wrong" model as it was a "K" model instead of "J". So does it mean mine is not make in Japan nor its watch movement is a "Japan" manufacture movement but make in "Korea" as someone said that "K" means Korea as "M" means Malaysia! Pls clarify & enlighten us, both the buyers & the viewer. Thanks

How does this watch compare to the SKX013?
Bigger.
Long Island Watch not the lug to lug size though. However- this has hand wound and hacking movement vs non wound and hack on the skx013 so this has better movement but you also pay more for it.
do any of the strapcode jubilee bracelets you carry fit these mini turtles?
