There's money there no doubt. One high grade can swing value immensely, but all that takes additional expense and vetting the cards worth grading. I'd say the collection is probably worth around 25-30k, 12-15k short sell, but if you took the time to grade vintage $100+ mints or better you could squeeze 35-45k out of everything
@@AnuddaGoy I mean, who wouldn't want to feel or be able to look back and say "holy, they went above and beyond for me." This dude doesn't just have that, his family also stored his stuff for 25 years and gave it back to him! Who wouldn't be jealous of that? Or want it? You must be as spoiled as he was. 😂
Oh, I just forgot I had 7 large picnic tables worth of pokemon cards and pokemon related stuff. This exact scenario happens to me all the time. How you forget you opened all them packs as a kid? 😂
This is a amazing collection, Leonhart needs to get a hands free camera the way he was handling some of the items gave me wild amounts of anxiety for something that isn’t even mine 😂
I was born in 97 so didn't really experience the first wave of pokemon craziness, the only thing I can say is good lord, they made a LOT of merch back then. I can't even comprehend it
Agreed. Very happy he was able to film this. I also love the guy was a player as a kid and didn’t just collect. Those stories are always great to hear.
what a crazy nostalgia trip. I recognized having so many of these items. every time you looked at something knew i found myself saying oo i had that no way!
Oh, what a nostalgia trip. I remember having those cards…unfortunately I threw all my base unlimited cards away and gym leader, team rocket sets when we moved. My parents was complaining that it’s taking up space. Oh well, thanks for sharing what an amazing nostalgia trip.
@Matches-Malone same here, but I didn't throw them away. They got mistaken for trash, and my brother threw them out. By the time I found out it, a long time had passed. So I couldn't do or say much about it.
Also, the metal coins were part of a game that was made where they would spin and whatever it lands on that was in the direction of the other coin was what happened for your action. I used to have a bunch of those. I just can't remember how the spinning worked for it, if it was with fingers or a spinner of sorts
Awesome video and thanks for recording this. These type of collections (not just Pokémon) are becoming harder and harder to find. Love the stories behind him playing at the bookstore and in the league. Id imagine this would be hard for him to sell as it seems a good chunk of his life for a few years was Pokémon. Hopefully he kept the checklist he was making with his mom as that is priceless.
Lucky. I traded some mechanical pencils, pens, and erasers for digimon figures, then traded those for a machop card and a ponyta. Then i traded other stuff for more cards and had ro keep trading. I wish i grew up a bit more wealthier.
I swear that's all that matters to you is money! That whole collection is Phenomenal! And those Topps Chrome Cards etc aren't Cheap! Especially The Chrome ones!
Bro that Pokemon Master Trainer DX I would love to come across it again. It was my absolute favorite board game as a kid but I lost my old one. Such a great collection!
man that’s an amazing collection. i would keep it all if that were mine. i wish i had all my cards from back in the day i had full sets of base 1st edition all the way through skyridge as well
Amazing collection, those are great Pokémon items, I have a lot of those items when Pokémon started. I try to buy everything, but at some time, I have to be selective because there are too many things haha
I still have all my old pokemon cards from when i was a kid, my pokemon items are the one thing i have left from my childhood and i've been super protective of them since i plan on keeping them and continuing to add to my collection. My collection of older cards are nowhere near as extensive as this though. I'd get a few pack for my birthday or Christmas or on special occasions but that was it. this would have been my childhood dream. I feel like this collection belongs in some kind of exbit on display.
I'm surprised he didn't wind up getting one of the error Electrodes from Jungle, where WotC used Base set art on the non-holo. I have (or had, more likely) one of those, and I remember them being pretty sought after, even back then.
The metal coins were another game, my brother had two sets (I think I have them in a box now) but you would spin them and wherever they landed towards each other would be the damage they do to each other
some saying he got ripped off. but for 10k if he is decided on just selling it, i think its good. Not everyone has the time to go the extra mile on selling each individual piece for a better price. from what I can see his place, the way he speaks, he looks like a busy man. It's like "the barn find" of car culture where they bought rare exotic cars for a price of an old beat up civic.
One thing I miss is pokemon stuffed toys with candy inside. I miss that candy cause it was my favorite the texture of that candy was great but don't have that anymore
I remember seeing alot of this when I was a kid, we had some figures, a pokedex, and some of the burger king stuff! we didn't get into cards until closer to the 2000s eras, but once in a while we found older packs like fossil and rocket at secondhand stores.
I hate that I had a collection like this as a kid but in my teens i learned my mom "lost" the storage unit that had my entire collection of pokemon and yugioh
This is so cool. I sold my whole collection about 15 years ago. ( Not close to this, but had some good cards) for 30 bucks and I think about it ever day. I wish I would have kept them.
We moved, had a yard sale, and my parents threw all the cards away......thats what happened to my collection. My parents told us some guy bought all our cards for $50 and my bro and I split the $50. Then told us many years later that isnt what happened, they threw them away
*Thank you Will for taking us through some amazing memories!*
He had just a tiny amount of cards😂.... wow though!
second reply leonhart :)
It's like going to a friend's house to see his collection. My favorite pokemon is Ivysaur.
Reminds me of the good days. Not a care in the world just trying to catch em all!
Wow I remember winning that pokemon wallet in the arcades at circus circus in Reno when I was younger
If he sold this for 10,000. He got ripped off really bad.
Don't you think he'll think first before he sells at that amount?
@@Adept4Adeptpeople don’t think
Collection is prob worth well over 100k
He clearly doesn’t need the money

Lowballing his cards that holo zard is not approx 100$ 😂

right i wish any of these prices were accurate haha

This is literally a Pokemon museum. Imagine the collection room you could build around this stuff. Great trip down memory lane
I was born in 97 so didn't really experience the first wave of pokemon craziness, the only thing I can say is good lord, they made a LOT of merch back then. I can't even comprehend it
Not everything is super liquid, but the value must be well over $10k
"found"? He grew up a diehard pokemon kid who had a huge AF collection.
I don’t think he got ripped off value wise at all but his own nostalgia from collecting with his mom. I couldn’t have done it for 1.4 million
Yeah seems like such a huge part of his childhood just sold. I wouldn't sell it personally either.
In the same situation I’d keep it till I die. Wouldn’t care if value went to 0.
Bar far one of the best videos of an actual childhood collection... INCREDIBLE! The memories returned... thank you!

Mom should have been here for this video, could’ve answered a lot of questions, would have been a cool perspective!
Your work on this is so clear!
