    the other big one not mentioned is Fabio De'Rose, which is arguably the most entertaining of all. tl:dr, professional magician, got a sub30 3bld solve while averaging 50s by replacing the cube under the cover brought to him with one he already knew the scramble, the judge didnt notice because someone else in the venue just set an NR and the entire venue was distracted. In addition, he claimed to have gotten 40 second memo in an official 9 minute 5bld solve by one passing entirely audio memo (the fastest 5bld memo done officially so far 6 years later is Hill pong's ASR with 41 memo). When asked about his 5bld times, he said he averaged somewhere in the 4-5 minute range, but upon being asked to record some 5bld attempts at home, the best he could send was an 8 minute attempt (DNF) in which he had already attempted the same scramble several times before (I think around 5 times).

    Martin Telesforo affirmed that it could have been a misscramble because that tournament was very poorly organized, he said that his cube got stuck in a crack in the table and he made random movements and gave up the resolution but a large part of the F2L OLL skip was put together and a J perm himself affirmed that he was not proud because it was luck, apart from the fact that the cube was obviously not well Scrambled (the WCA tried to accuse him of cheating and they did not give him the opportunity to only put DNF to the resolution for a misscramble and they accused him of cheater and they banned of competitions)

    A good rule to follow if you are going to cheat: Don't be too obvious, if on tests you always get mid C range, it will be very suspicious if you get an A+ out of nowhere.

    How do you "manipulate" a scramble? What I understand, the cube is not given to you before examining step, and it would be pretty evident if you turn the cube before timer starts, so should be pretty impossible to affect the scramble.
    Yeah, the competitions where the scrambled cubes were not held hidden from the cuber, but thats a err or the competition side, and it should not be considered cheating to take advantage of that information, unless you as a cuber purposefully trespassed into an area not intended for cubers not yet finished.

    • @thomasdalton1508
      @thomasdalton1508 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they mean manipulating the scramble that is chosen for the round. It should be determined randomly by computer, but if you are involved in that process you can get the computer to spit out an easy scramble or one you already know. It seems very odd that delegates are allowed to compete in the competitions they are the delegate for... Stopping that would eliminate that problem...

    • @TetraCubing
      @TetraCubing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thomasdalton1508 how is it "odd" that delegates get to compete in their own competitions? there are multiple delegates that have very high world rankings like Patrick Ponce, Elijah Brown, Carter Kucala, Jay McNeill, Conan Mo, Antonio Kam and probably a lot more that I'm missing. i trust delegates to not cheat by looking at scrambles beforehand, most delegates are very responsible and trustworthy people but Sebastiano Pino Castillo is a clear exception.

    Unfortunate that these competitors did what they have done, or seem to have done in several cases. If you cheat, it's a matter of time before you're caught. All of the respect people have for you will be gone in an instant. All of the support will be replaced with rejection the very moment people learn that you duped them and made them accomplices to what you did.
    I doubt I'm speaking for myself here: I'm a nerdy person. Not like cool nerds who speedrun video games and have like millions of followers-I'm like the dorky sort of nerd who doesn't fit into normal crowds at all. If that sounds like you … when you go to a cubing event, these are your people. Your friends, even the ones you don't know very well yet. You don't need to be the best to make friends, and even if you're good enough to win some prize money, so what? Is the small amount of money you could win worth throwing away your connection to the people who are just glad to see you there? Is it worth being the center of positive attention for a few minutes only to become the center of doubt and ridicule for years after the fact?
    You don't have to be the best to be respected, you just have to finish well. Play fair, and may next time be at least as good as your last one.

    Tommaso Raposio said something interesting about Ushakov's fmc wr:
    R' U' F R U2 R F2 D2 R' B2 R D2 B D' B' U2 F2 D2 R' B2 D' R' F' R' U' F
    R' B' D2 R' U R // blocks (actually the only convincing parts of his original explanation)
    D U F' // EO (U/D) + DR
    R D2 R' U2 L' // HTR
    B2 D2 B2 D2 B2 // finish
    if you pretend it's cyprian doing random blocks at the start, this solution is almost believable

    • @ChrisChoi123
      @ChrisChoi123 ปีที่แล้ว

      like its crazy how far FMC has gotten. almost every single solve at the highest level (with the big exception of Cyprian) is done with thistlethwaite's algorithm of EO->DR->HTR->finish, and so its become really really difficult to discern cheating if the optimal solutions given by nissy or cube explorer is basically identical to what a human could concievably come up with. as long as the optimal solution doesnt break any of the steps along the way, one could just claim that the EO and Dr of the solution was something they happened upon. and this isnt that unbelievable, since the top people reguarly try like 30-50 EOs sometimes for a given attempt. it would be so easy to write a bunch of EOs, try and write down a bunch of DRs, and have the optimal cube explorer's solution be one of them and get an easy WR

    I wonder, why isn't blind cubing done using a visible cube but that has same color on all sides, but has invisible markings (UV or similiar) that can be read using blacklight.
    (Then the examination step could be made with a blacklight that has a timer)
    Another alternative would be to have magnetically attached black cover plates that covers each color, that needs to be removed using a suction cup.
    That should make it practically impossible to cheat during blindfolded runs, and they could be run with eyes open.
