Absolutely shocking quality control at the Royal Mint. I had been purchasing some limited edition silver bullion coins, and had some great coins, but after the last batch I received, where all four coins had severe issues, I put Royal Mint purchases on-hold indefinitely. That you would get such issues on such expensive proof sets just beggars belief.
I've reached out to Royal Mint by email, but they have over a month lead time on answering emails, so not doing great there either...
On a more positive note I'm enjoying your channel - refreshing lack of BS! :)
Sorry you have also had issues, I've lost count with the amount of coins I've sent back over the last year or so.
I have the email of the head of customer services so they will be getting a strong email from me.

Recently spoke to royal mint on phone, the guy sounded lobotomised
They all do 🤣, I wouldn't like being on the phone hearing everyone complaining all the time 😅
That is really terrible. I watched your last video just yesterday. I think the bullion coin looks good, so that’s something positive.
Guess have to take the small wins 😉. It's annoying but bullion it is as I can't deal with the hassle
Sorry your replacement set was not to expectations buddy. I think you made a good decision getting the refund and buying bullion instead. RM really have to do something about their quality control. Jeez! ✌🏻😊
Thanks. It's just a shame as I really like the coins but just had enough returning stuff. Sent an email to the head of customer services as well so will see what I get from that.
i had the same problem with my 1/4 sov but was in the 4 coin set ..
That sucks, but at least it was only one coin. All the coins in both sets I got had issues
They way things are looking, the population of ms69-70 is going to be low for this mintage. Either that or when you return something, they're just sending out other coins from their pool of returns as a replacement. Because they wouldn't be minting anymore, specially to cover returns which should be melted (although they should on a sell out).
It will be for sure. And the mint does do that, they said when I was having so many issues with the Tudor beast 2 coin set there was no check on the stock on the shelf to check it hadn't been a returned coin. Think they might have to melt them all down to even get close to the number of sets that there should be with no issues
@@NorthCoastBob With a sell-out, did they say they're minting new coins to replace returns and then sending those coins out? How can they explain sending out gank coins to replace ones which had issues? You would think that you've irritated the customer enough in the first place, by not supplying them with perfect (within tolerances) proof coins and so there would therefore be extra attention given, in the sending out of replacements. There's clearly structural issues in management which are effecting key areas of customer satisfaction and quality control. I blame the links in the chain that are women (slackers, indifferent, not professional). heh. (just to really nail down the controversial into this post).
I stopped with the Royal Mint...there quality is absolutely trash. It's appalling it truly is....a shame cause they are unbelievable sets and engravers
I agree, think I'm just going to stick to bullion as can't deal with all these issues on the proofs which is a shame as they are great coins 😞
I have heard many issues with these , and I agree with what your doing , but maybe think about buying a graded sovereign from the secondary market... but also BBP should have looked over the sets and sent them back to the R.M , so I'd say it's mostly down to them ... especially since you already sent a set back...
I have thought about getting a graded version as an addition, however I have a full sovereign off for grading currently so fingers crossed that comes back well and then if I can get a few bullion then should be set I think.
Agree BBP should have checked them as well but even if they did check I bet they wouldn't check to the same level that you or I would.

@@the_islandstacker Agreed ! I only got the half Sov , but it seems ok and will have it graded at some point... did you manage to get any Charles Ist monarchs collection? one of the top coins of the series IMO
@@chrisb.h4605 that might be the play going forward as the half is lower mintage anyway. I've not got any of the monarch's series, just any series that I can't keep up with.
But I do like the design 😉
