You're completely missing the point; this is a silver proof coin, not bullion. Buying a silver proof 50p will set you back £75, and a £82 for a £2 coin. Compare it to the gold proof sovereign - that goes for £800-900 putting a £300ish premium on it. £80 for the silver sovereign for a "first ever" is a good deal IMO, and the less people that buy it will only increase it's value on the secondary...

Interesting. It’s always a challenge to make predictions. Thank you for making yours. I’m thinking gold and silver have popped up into new trend channels and will largely trend sideways within them. Platinum looks like it could break out but I’m not convinced it has found a bottom.

I have seen huge spikes in the gold pricee in recent days problably caused by large deals by major traders . I simply ignore them.

I predict gold will be around £2450 this time next year. Silver will be £28. And platinum will probably be where it is now give or take £20. Really disappointed with platinum. Thinking about getting rid of all my platinum bullion entirely and buy junk 50% silver with the money.

The RM should be prosecuted and exposed on the TV "Rogue Traders" programme for shafting customers with this average,bog standard offering. Con artists springs to mind.When a plumber cons a customer by charging double what the job should cost and is exposed on TV how the fcuk can the Royal Mint not be exposed?. Con artists of the highest order.

These coins are a stupid idea, to put it mildly. What will happen is that criminals will gold plate them and sell them off to the unsuspecting incautious as gold. I expect the mint knows this and could not care less.

Unbelievably stupid move by the RM….. again. They had a genuine chance to produce a new, globally desirable bullion coin (if it had been say 1/2 or 3/4 ounce with a price linked to spot I would have bought them by the tube), but no, another blatant rip off product. This has to be the worst value coin they've ever produced.

I demand The Royal Mint do a 1/40th of an ounce colourised "Una and the Dragon" copper round. I insist on exchanging my house and all its contents for one.

They haven't sold anywhere near as fast as you're suggesting in this video - the stock count for the cheaper one was only 4,500 at 9am on release day and it took about 4 hours for it to go down by a thousand. They will have given a fair chunk to other dealers to sell, but probably not 45,500 of them. The delivery times suggest most if not all haven't even been minted yet so it's a spectacularly risk free operation either way.

The Royal Mint has been a rip off these last 15-20 years. So many variants of coins in different metals as to make coins more like medallions. It was never like this and coins were worth collecting before they simply threw out overpriced versions of the same coin. They have gone the same way the Post Office did years before when they began issuing a new set of stamps every month instead of 6-8 sets a years. Less is more and people aren’t mugs.

Yes absolutely correct a seriously bad investment. Just another way of heavily taxing the public. Nothing changes they have been robbing and stealing for hundreds of years. Customer rights go out the window. It should be £15 with box and not a penny more.

I come from the perspective of a sovereign lover,and see this coin as of note in that regard.However,whilst I appreciate it has added value I certainly would not consider purchasing one at these at super high premiums. I will be looking at secondary market options in the future. Of course I expect to pay over spot,but not at these extreme`s. I would love to own one and may well do eventually,but not at all costs.
