I want to say Thank You to the Houston news crews who continue to cover this travesty of injustice to the citizens who have suffered and died due to Center Point not trimming trees and maintaining power poles and wires. This was only a Cat 1 storm. What if it had been another Katrina???
Every Prison in America has Multiple diesel generators for back up power.. Why do Seniors not? Kind of says Criminals are more important than senior citizens..
My ac broke three days before Beryl. It was 84* in my apartment and my doggo was panting and drooling like crazy. Thankfully, loving and supportive friends allowed us both to stay at their house, then Beryl came. I’m grateful. 🦋
I run my ac on 84° with the silly idea my electric bill might be "affordable" on my small ss amount.( not complaining--I ran out my savings 2 years ago and can't get ahead ) Even so my bill was $85.00 last month. 1br.apt, gas heat, no computer, no dryer, no tv til 8pm, and 1 small table fan.
@@Lily-wp8ol 84*? That’s hot Sis. I would melt into chocolate pudding. I was a sweaty mess, nerves chewed up, irritated , and my Black Lab was looking like she was about to have a heat stroke. I’m grateful Honey. ❤️
@DiabolikalFollikles I also am grateful. I know there are millions of people not as blessed as I am. Glad you had friends to help. I feel so bad for the infirm, the elderly. I grew up without ac so I can tolerate a little better. Hope it all gets sorted out for yall.🙏
@@Lily-wp8ol Thank you Sis. Houstonians need all the prayers, meditations, and good energies we can get. It’s been tough. Isn't there some nice rich company out there that could deliver a HUGE GENERATOR to this senior living facility so that they could hook up their A/C and get some relief?

Thankfully they at least have one cool area. What I don't understand is why they don't have a large generator. When I was younger I worked at an assisted & Independent living facility. We had a generator that was a large diesel engine. It provided power for the entire facility.
I agree with everything posted. Venting grievances of the vulnerable is not the issue. Moaning and sadness are for the hell-bound. In shock and awe is how I view the Texas Gov't. So pitiful.
This is ridiculous. I was actually thinking about moving there at one time. They want your money every month though....Bring in some generators wealthy landlord.
Ok there's lights in other parts of Houston why aren't they put in hotel's. If my lights were out for the 3rd day I reserved hotels in New Orleans but luckily it's was only 2 days they came back on. But I don't live in Harris County no more I moved to the country

No worries. CenterPoint executives will still get their huge year end bonuses.

They got over 65million from this week

@marshmellow1912 yes also the disabled.

They should all have a backup system. They surely pay enough to have one.
It’s disgusting to see how this country treats our elders.
You mean it’s disgusting how Texas treats its elders.
just the elders?

The country treats?
I’m retired.
Nobody “treats” me any kinda way, certainly not a country.
You smoke pot? Stop.

The senior citizens homes etc. should have been one of the first… all in all no one in that state should have to wait all those days…
That’s not how it works.

I suppose the easier question to answer is when HASN'T Houston had an incompetent City Council?
Ha ha, it is the governor who is responsible.
Woo hoo .TEXAS and they are Great at managing their power grid, lol. And REALLY love n respect their SENIOR'S. And screw regulations, lol?😅😅
profits over people
But yet you have illegal living in luxury hotels with cool air conditioning and free food!
Why are there no companies that make sure these places have generators or the residents are transported to safety ?? Wth
they would have to be forced to help
Are you telling me the city can not provide emergency generators to these facilities?
or the state?
Thursday or Friday is crazy
Power will be restored
before Labor Day

Rip. I regret expanding the comment. lol
