Empty Jar is an OTK that can occasionally - and that means around 15% of the time - FTK. They should have gone for Spell Economics FTK instead, that deck is optimized for winning turn 1.
I think that if Cimo played Prohibition in the main and called giant trunade he could have easily won, How does Joe out prohibition call giant trunade? he has no other form of backrow removal, all of the dead gravity binds and level limits did him no favors.
@@hopeforescape884 Here's the thing man, Empty Jar wants cards that actually does something for the user immediately, and while Prohibition is a good card against Library FTK, that's pretty much a -1 in all cases for the Empty Jar Deck, so you have to consider counter play or consistency

@@Fubga Library FTK usually wins game 1. Pretty much every GOAT deck has at least something in the side for Library OTK, Empty Jar, and Burn because those are "degenerate" strategies that unfortunately are very viable. Your side deck for GOAT is insanely important.

If that were the whole reason, then that sidedeck slot would just be a Foolish. There has to be some match up where the 500 burn is relevant, like vs Reversal Quiz.
I can't imagine drawing Prohibition opening turn vs Library OTK and saying "No, I need to Reload this card." It actually may be the single worst play Cimo has made in any of these series. Game 2 was already won; you play Prohibition and call "Giant Trunade". That's GG. It's over.
The absolute dumbest thing about Library FTK is that you can run a copy of self-destruct button and wall of revealing light in the main deck so that if you brick on the FTK but draw into those 2 cards, you can just end the game in a draw. THEN, because in Goat format the initiator of a draw decides who goes first in the next game, you can just attempt to FTK again. It’s non-gameplay, lmao
3:52 - As someone who's played a version of this deck before, it's worth noting a couple things: 1) The effect of Black Pendant only says when it's sent _"from the field_ to the graveyard." This means that if you had to pass a turn because of a limited hand and your opponent gets rid of your Royal Magical Libraries and you have no monsters to equip the Pendant to, you can still execute the OTK because setting the card face down will still cause the effect to activate, since it was technically "on the field" before being sent to the graveyard via Reversal Quiz's effect. 2) Before being errata'd, the continuous Spell Card "Shuffle" was not a once per turn effect and would let you pay 300 lifepoints to shuffle your deck, this was another way to potentially get your lifepoints super low consistently. Cards like Convulsion of Nature are cool, but unfortunately, they don't work in certain video games like Yugioh 5D's or Millenium Duels which fucking sucks.
I think we need more episodes like this. The only thing that we don't have is showing how these decks do against non-janky decks. These anti-meta decks are much more fun against meta decks.
The Premature Burial that was Trunaded during game two should not have been returned to hand after Cimo booked the RML, but it led to triple Thunder Dragon FTW, so I guess I'm not mad?
@@kyuubinaruto17 correct! Premature is an equip card, and as such, as soon as the monster to which it is equipped is destroyed or flipped facedown, the card is "already marked for destruction" and will not return.
This has been my favorite episode so far. It was hysterical. This is the kind of janky garbage me and my wife played back in the day. Our decks were not nearly as well thought out as these, but this is sort of nonsense we tried.
Joseph was so based, this episode he helped Alex get his shit deck to the track, imagine you're in a race and driving a vehicle so bad that after being beaten 4 rounds you still need your opponent to get off of their vehicle to help you jumpstart yours JUST so you can join in

The Premature Burial/Giant Trunade loops, ya gotta love it. This is why it's such a powerful and stupid combo, you don't even need strong tribute monsters or 1900 beaters to do the loop with, you can literally use goddamn Thunder Dragon to make an OTK happen.
This was absolutely beautiful. In situations like cimo not being able to draw his combo, instead of doing multiple rematches I think he should just set up his opening hand so we could see what the idea behind the deck was.

Alex and Joseph, it’s so much fun watching you two duel each other in every episode you both have done on this series and the history of yugioh, and this episode highlights the pure joy of playing with friends who love to be as goofy with this game as possible. Pretty sure the purpose of the Rock Bombardment isn't the damage, but to get the jars in the grave - and thus, in rotation. An attempt to make the deck more reliable (though as a trap, it would not enable a FTK, as this deck can sometimes pull off).
And that is exactly why modern yugioh is complet shit. It is beyond me why anyone still plays it. Since Pepe 2015 the game is completely dead in my opinion.

Wow..... Jank is the best descriptor to these decks!! I faced down Magical Library FTK back in the day and lucky for me one miss play saved me from what was a 12 minute long turn of effectively busting out my sketch book and sketching something while my oponenet did what he did till said missplay XD
More than anything I’m thankful for this, the auction and Sealed Saturdays for helping to get across the unmitigated mess that was and continues to be at all levels of play. And how much we love it for it.
This episode was cool tbh. Sure, irl, it would probably suck to play against, but seeing something other than a slow grind fest that always start with set and pass turn 1 makes it a lot more fun than many typical GOAT format duels imo. Yugioh is famous for its combos and insane interactions, and this episode perfectly captures the essence of that.
@@ascriptmaster Cyber Jar is fine. Alex has no opportunity to flip Morphing Jar because he has no set book of taiyou. So he just draws 5 down to the last 2 in his deck, draws one more, and reversal quizzes.
If you're cimo, you haven't read book of taiyou before and you have no experience playing either of these decks, let alone the matchup between them, and that's why you don't go for the good play. I imagine cimo was thinking he needs taiyou if he's actually going to win the game eventually and was just hoping MBT didn't have it, which just means he vastly underestimated the relative power of their two decks.

I love these games, they're hilarious! One ruling thing I do know: if I'm not mistaken, the current ruling on convulsion of nature is that activating a second one actually flips your decks back face down! Not a problem for me, still massively entertaining!
What’s even more hilarious than the game 5 group ftk thanks to Joseph setting a cyber jar is the fact Alex could not have legally activate the card destruction because the number of cards in his hand is greater than the number of cards in deck 🤣 Same reason you can’t pot of greed with only 1 card in deck
Is that true? I know that cards can see into the future to some extent, but does that apply to Card Destruction? That is, does it know how many cards it will send before it sends them?
The general rule to my knowledge is you can’t activate an effect to draw if the number of cards in you’re deck is less than the number you would draw. The game would recognize you would be drawing however many cards is in your hand so you cannot attempted to activate. Funnily enough, you can activate it if your opponent would deck out though and you would win, you just can’t do it to yourself.

At 40:35 If you call wrong on Archfiends Oath the card on the Deck os send to the GY. Therefore Joseph would not have had a card on Deck to call for reversal Quizz and would have lost on the next turn due to deckout.

Empty jar seems like a good tournament deck. You just have to cheat like an anime villain and stack the deck so that Cyber Jar and Taiyu are in the the starting hand.
back when i played one of the Tag Force games on psp, i looked up decks after unlocking all cards. i remember a Koa'ki Mieru Doom OTK deck that i like to lean toward. the loop consisted of Doom, Gennex Ally Birdman, and some other effect monster whose name escapes me. i know his effect was he can be special summoned practically for free, and when done so, you send top card of deck to grave. if it's a monster you do burn damage to opponent. then you use Birdman's effect to return it to hand, which is cancelled by Doom's effect, yet the monster in question still goes to hand since it's considered a cost. at that point you just resummon them for the burn effect endlessly
I mentioned this in the very first episode already as well. Thing is, you won't be able to actually do that - I'm pretty sure DB actually enforces the 60 card deck limit.

I faced down Magical Library FTK back in the day and lucky for me one miss play saved me from what was a 12 minute long turn of effectively busting out my sketch book and sketching something while my oponenet did what he did till said missplay XD

This episode was cool tbh. Sure, irl, it would probably suck to play against, but seeing something other than a slow grind fest that always start with set and pass turn 1 makes it a lot more fun than many typical GOAT format duels imo. Yugioh is famous for its combos and insane interactions, and this episode perfectly captures the essence of that.

@@ascriptmaster Cyber Jar is fine. Alex has no opportunity to flip Morphing Jar because he has no set book of taiyou. So he just draws 5 down to the last 2 in his deck, draws one more, and reversal quizzes.

Game 1, if you're Cimoo, why would you not Book of Taiyou the RML and hit over with Mystic Tomato?
If you're cimo, you haven't read book of taiyou before and you have no experience playing either of these decks, let alone the matchup between them, and that's why you don't go for the good play. I imagine cimo was thinking he needs taiyou if he's actually going to win the game eventually and was just hoping MBT didn't have it, which just means he vastly underestimated the relative power of their two decks.

This is why Cimo keeps making these series. No one actually wants to play modern Yugioh if they can avoid it.

I love these games, they're hilarious! One ruling thing I do know: if I'm not mistaken, the current ruling on convulsion of nature is that activating a second one actually flips your decks back face down! Not a problem for me, still massively entertaining!
What’s even more hilarious than the game 5 group ftk thanks to Joseph setting a cyber jar is the fact Alex could not have legally activate the card destruction because the number of cards in his hand is greater than the number of cards in deck 🤣 Same reason you can’t pot of greed with only 1 card in deck
Is that true? I know that cards can see into the future to some extent, but does that apply to Card Destruction? That is, does it know how many cards it will send before it sends them?
The general rule to my knowledge is you can’t activate an effect to draw if the number of cards in you’re deck is less than the number you would draw. The game would recognize you would be drawing however many cards is in your hand so you cannot attempted to activate.
Funnily enough, you can activate it if your opponent would deck out though and you would win, you just can’t do it to yourself.
@@marcusmoore1115 I'm aware of that, my question is about if the game knows how many cards you will draw from Card Destruction when you activate it, since that amount is determined as part of the effect rather than being hardcoded/determined by cost.

At 40:35 If you call wrong on Archfiends Oath the card on the Deck os send to the GY. Therefore Joseph would not have had a card on Deck to call for reversal Quizz and would have lost on the next turn due to deckout.
I finally know what library Ftk and empty jar does! I’ve heard the names from the normal History series and other series from time to time but never got to see it. Thanks for the ep!

Empty jar seems like a good tournament deck. You just have to cheat like an anime villain and stack the deck so that Cyber Jar and Taiyu are in the the starting hand.
Making Cimoo watch the game from close and not doing thing but flipping deck was oddly satisfying
back when i played one of the Tag Force games on psp, i looked up decks after unlocking all cards. i remember a Koa'ki Mieru Doom OTK deck that i like to lean toward. the loop consisted of Doom, Gennex Ally Birdman, and some other effect monster whose name escapes me. i know his effect was he can be special summoned practically for free, and when done so, you send top card of deck to grave. if it's a monster you do burn damage to opponent. then you use Birdman's effect to return it to hand, which is cancelled by Doom's effect, yet the monster in question still goes to hand since it's considered a cost. at that point you just resummon them for the burn effect endlessly

I mentioned this in the very first episode already as well. Thing is, you won't be able to actually do that - I'm pretty sure DB actually enforces the 60 card deck limit.
