Arion and Lewin were (usually) faces, while as for Waldo von Erich and Abdullah the Butcher, and their evil manager; well. the term "heels" doesn't seem adequate to describe them. Waldo Von Erich(really a Canadian) was always good value and could actually wrestle when the occasion demanded. Back in those days, the promoters usually put at least one "real" scientific bout on the night's card, and most of the pro wrestlers of that era really did know their stuff. In more recent times, Kurt Angle was a former Amateur wrestling champion. ( and he had the gold to prove it)
