    Thank you Ben for showing us this project. I've learned a lot by watching a few of your videos which made me more confident! Thanks again and God bless you 🙏🌹

      No problem at all. I’m pleased the videos have helped. Confidence comes from experience too so don’t be afraid to make mistakes and try not to be too critical of yourself as we are always our own worst critics, especially as woodworkers!

      I've been doing few small projects for many years (I'm a 69-year-old woman) and with minimal tools but I want to make a dining table so I'm watching many videos and yours seems to be very helpful. I'm on my way to buy my pocket hole jig right now! Btw, I've already subscribed. Thanks again Ben and God bless you🙏🌹

      @@skinnydee1886 amazing! I’m actually making a dining table in the next few weeks and have got the oak drying out in my spare bedroom at the moment. If you do build a table I’d love to see any photos if you tag me on social media or email to lionandbearwoodworking@gmail.com as it’s always nice seeing other people’s projects 😊 enjoy the Kreg jig!

    Thanks for your videos, I also watched your first pocket hole video. One thing I don't understand is the numbers 13, 19 and another number, say I have panels of 16mm thick (for a shelf) where would I set it at? at 13? or set it somewhere between 13 and 19? Thanks

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a very good question. I tend to err on the side of caution so as not to blow through the other side. Your jig will have recommendations in the instructions when you use the measuring gauge and it sits between 13 and 19. But a good rule that I follow is to use the Kreg screw calculator on their website and then do a test piece to see what the hold is like.

    What a well presented video. Clear and simple. really very well done. Appreciate that it was based on the 5 tools but dont be afraid to suggest a hand saw for those smaller cuts. Possibly a little safer, especially as its aimed at beginers (having said that, never had an accident with my circular saw but have dug my hand saw into my fingers on many occasions :) )

      Thanks John. I’m pleased you understood the premise for the video. I absolutely would’ve done things a little differently with a couple of other bits such as clamps etc so my next project will be based on using a wider set but I really hope this video helps some people just getting started as the hardest thing is making those first steps into the hobby.

    Hi mate how did you pocket hole the 2x2s? Struggling to fins a jig for 44mm timber. Thanks

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, I just used the kreg 320 jig. It’s not 100% designed for the 44mm material so is pushing it a bit but it worked ok. You’ll find that the jigs will cope with 34mm stuff better so you may want to adapt the measurements for 34mm material instead. The last few tables I made was 34mm which still looks good. Here’s my associates link to the kreg 320: amzn.to/3Rne0TS

      @Ben - Lion & Bear Woodworking thanks mate. 1 more pls. Which size screws do you use for 44mm timber please? Thanks again. Only subbed a couple weeks ago. Enjoying the videos

      I’ll just double check the screws in a bit and confirm as i forget which exact ones I used and don’t want to send you wrong. Bear with me and I’ll reply later this morning.
      Thanks for being a subscriber and the positive feedback mate. Really appreciate it.

      Just checked mate and I had it set to 19mm on the drill and the jig and used 32mm screws. The 19mm setting gets the hole closer to the joint and the screws protrude about 16mm into the joint which was enough to clamp them together. It’s not the perfect joint but works fine on the table, especially with glue on the joints. I’ve just stood on the joint on the table I built and it can take my full weight so no problems there. Hope this helps you mate.

    Really smart, and all out of pine too. Could be a good use of scraps

    • @lionandbear
      @lionandbear  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. You could absolutely do it with scraps or salvaged wood. I build a very similar one purely out of pallet wood. Hopefully it provides a good base to get creative with.
