    You're complaining about the fact that it's too fast...? So that makes it boring?

    You can`t compare it to a Miata, 2 different animals, each with their own characteristics. You may go from a Miata to a Corvette, you wont go from a Corvette to a Miata.

    my dad has a c6 convertible vette and let me just say, youre incorrect about the practicality of it. you could definitely take it on a weekend get away for two or something and not have a problem with space. with the top up, the trunk is actually very big for a sports car of its caliber and you could easily fit golf clubs and a duffel bag or two in it.

    I normally love your reviews but this one was a bit disappointing. You didn't seem to reach into the limits of the car and the fact you said a car as numb as the gtr is was more fun tells me you need a lot more time with the Vette.

    Compared to my old Mustang GT, The C6's clutch is a Hydraulic dream! For a V8 it's certainty NOT heavy at all. This guy's used of his Subaru??Every negative thing he said, I disagrees with!!!The shifter requires muscle which he lacks. It's a very pleasant and SMOOTH sports car. I love it!!!This is the only review I heard bad things about the C6!!

I have never bumped my hands into the shifter like he said either. I don't know why he is against this beautiful car. A true master piece. The power is great and SOME HOW STILL GETS 30 plus miles per gallon.

    Now that was down right comical. He likes the way he has to rev smaller engines to climb a hill and dislikes the fact that a Corvette has enough horsepower to do it without revving. In fact, I believe he used the term "boring". Dude, really??? Just stick with your little import commuter cars and leave the Vettes to the big boys who know how to drive them.

    A requirement should be taking the car to redline for two gears of each review. I know the skip-shift is related to the throttle i had it in my GTO and since I was in the throttle a lot it never got engaged much. But I do like your reviews but I feel ya drove the vette too soft. There has to be some small stretch of road to let you do a full run to 60 or 70. You drove the GTR a little bit harder and it had more power.

  • @grunyun
    @grunyun 11 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    It's funny listening to a 140 pound guy complaining about the side bolstering being too wide. You cannot compare a cheap Mazda Miata to a Corvette, end of discussion. In addition, it would be nice to stop comparing most of the cars you review to a Subaru as well. The reviews are nice, though as they give me something to watch in my spare time.

    Mine is the 6 speed auto with paddle shifters, and I absolutely love it. Wanted to go with a 2015, but the prices were a bit too high.
    Copped the Z16 GS, and it's stunning. I don't know what the heck you're experiencing, but take the car to the track where it belongs.

    • @metaljew4456
      @metaljew4456 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So what you are trying to say is that you wanted a C7 as opposed to a C6……
      And you don’t know what the Hell Matt is experiencing because Matt unlike you is actually Driving The Car. As in who would want a slushbox Corvette? You just neutered the car! You should have just got a Cadillac CTS-V and called it a day. The only Vette that I guess gets a pass w/o three peddles is the C8 since you have no choice anyway and that dual clutch cracks off lightning quick shifts.

    Watching this 6 years later for the 1st time. Ive seen his other reviews and they’re pretty good, but this one was a joke.. so many negatives! It’s a GS C6 for Christ sakes ! It’s meant to be driven hard and fast... Shifter is supposed to positioned close to the driver for easy throws !! 😩 😩 give me a break !!

  • @thegoldensaber4531
    @thegoldensaber4531 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I know what you mean; it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow, but I would still rather have the Corvette. You should get on the highway during your reviews and do on-ramp roll on accelerations, especially with the faster cars like this Corvette. You could have gotten up to 80mph getting on the highway, then cruised for a while during the review, and then done an 80-100 to show highway passing capabilities. I think that would be a better video, and it would probably be way more fun than doing 40mph on a bumpy, two lane road. I would love to do reviews like this. You're a lucky guy. Keep up the good work.

  • @strutz3624
    @strutz3624 10 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    Too capable?!?! Goes over the speed limit too quickly?! I don't know what to say... You won't get the bi-mode exhaust to open up unless you rev it high enough... you barely touched the power of that car not revving over 4k. This review just made me shake my head constantly. The C6 is meant for speed, plain and simple. Light body, big motor and torque. Stick to the little miatas and Subarus.

    • @nr92cp6
      @nr92cp6 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You sound like a butthurt Corvette owner, talking down on less expensive cars. This was actually a nice, favorable review. Sounds more like he was talking about the fact that you'll never come near the limits of this car on public roads, which is a completely accurate comment.

    • @strutz3624
      @strutz3624 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Derek Ferrell butt hurt? No. I have never heard someone say they would rather have an underpowered car with no torque because they're afraid of going over the speed limit. That view just caught me off guard.

    The Range I can do, but my previous Range Rover review of the Evoque wasn't very popular so I won't do another Range Rover unless lots of people request it. Most people that requested the TC wanted me to review a second generation version, not the first. But if enough people want me to review the first gen TC I will. The Mini is a standard Cooper, I'd rather review a Cooper S. I'm not crazy about the Mazda 3 but if people want to see it, I'll do it! Maybe I should do a poll on the Facebook page?

    The shifter placement is perfect in my opinion. The corvette is a TRUE sports car. And i have never hit the shifter with my hands while steering in my corvette. The shifter placement actually makes for quick shifting especially when you take it on the twisty roads. Down shifting is a breeze.

    I generally like Matt’s reviews and look for them when researching cars. However, Matt seems to be way off the mark on this review. His comments comparing the Mazda and the Corvette are off base. I’ve driven both the MX5 and Corvette on public roads and on the track. They are totally different cars and in different classes. I would choose the Corvette for public roads any day of the week and I like the Miata. Comments like “better than I expected”, “can’t even go over 4,000 RPM....too capable...too easy to build speed”. Sorry Matt, this review was not one of your better reviews and makes me wonder if other reviews are on the mark.

    Hey "futureboy" aka subaruwrxfan, did you time travel into the past to do this review? You seriously quoted a 2012 Corvette as being "several years old?" Since when is a barely four year old car "several years old?"
    Perhaps you should stick to reviewing Subarus if you can't do at least a borderline fair review of such an iconic vehicle.

      Space Agent 069 so far ive had it for 30 days. Pros, young guys dont have the car really. They usually have mustangs,camaros chargers and challengers. So it makes you bad ass. The car is powerful and can pull nice. The grandsport is comfortable and im 6’3”, the car has cool features like the hud and keyfob emergency start, all women will respect this car, people let you cut over in-front of them more, people want to race you constantly even hondas, trunk space is great, my front bumper does not have a mount for a tag so i leave it off (looks better but illegal), cops think your a retired old man and dont mess with you. Cons: the bumps on the road are hell. Getting in and out is not ideal, the car is extra low so you are more prone to rock chips i have 3 in 30 days ( race people often tho), the interior paneling is cheap and squeaks, trans can get hot upto 230 degrees if not on the highway. The car hates city driving. Gas is about 54$ for premium at shell, The faster you go its like the better it is for the car. You will scrape leaving driveways all the time but it does not damage the body of the car just the protector, people might hear the scrape and make it a bigger deal than it is.the car feels like a chore to drive if using it for practical use in the city, the back ends loves to wheel hop, the car gets dirty extra fast idk why, and i am fully use to the 430hp i need more now. All in all. I got a 2012 grandsport centennial edition for 25k (had an accident reported) i love the car and milfs ask me if its a Ferrari . It drives well if the road is good. One thing i will say this is a muscle sport car i dont care what others say. It has hp but if you go around turns at high speeds the rear tires are larger than the front and it likes to skip kinda.. i just keep to drag street races XD. It feels and drives how it looks. If its your only car i would not get it but if you really can afford it i would go for it. The T top is cool too, women love that. Ive gotten head in my car 2 times from the girls on OkCupid. The car is bad ass. Just remember to never park close to curbs and that the car does not make you cool. You are already cool. Drive it and put some smiles on it oopps... i mean miles.

    • @eurly93
      @eurly93 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Space Agent 069 personally I wouldn’t daily it. Not because you can’t, but it’s very low, awkward to get in and out of, and not the most comfortable for just sitting in traffic. I daily my mustang and even that sometimes feels cumbersome. Parking is a chore too with these types of cats because the cars are wide, and the doors are long so a lot of parking spots are no go. All That being said, I smile every single time I have to drive anywhere in either car. It’s totally worth the hassles to look forward to driving to work every day and looking forward to the drive home as wel :)

    Hi Matt, I asked you last week about the Lexus RC F compared to the RC 350 RWD F sport and my pick will be the RC F.
    Now my question is how does an RC F compare to a 2012-13 C6 Grand Sport NON-Convertible manual or a C7 standard Stingray w auto. These 3 will be my top picks when I retire in 5 years
    I will drive them and compare but wanted your best opinion!
    The C6 and C7’s are very reliable. But either one I’m going to try my best to find a unmodified unmolested one owner low mileage one.
    Thanks in advance !

      Honestly, I've never driven a C6 Grand Sport hardtop and it's been nearly 10 years since I even drove this C6 in the video so it's hard for me to make any kind of comparison. Maybe if someone offers me a C6 I'll do a new video on one, it's certainly a car worth revisiting.

    The thing about the corvette is, we've become so accustomed to extreme comfort in today's cars, when you drive Lexus and that sort of vehicle, with the corvette however, all that is thrown out the window. Driving a corvette is like strapping a coupler of seats to a huge engine just to feel the raw power of it. It's such a different driving experience. You have to love raw power and discomfort to enjoy it. If you're over six foot tall, It's really a crampt feeling in the cockpit too

    Matt, I really love your channel and your reviews. But as a Corvette fan and huge enthusiast, I was holding myself in my chair as you said some things about the car, but I was also determined not to comment on that, because it was after all, your opinion. BUT when you talked about the Bose sound system, I felt like I just had to say something. So that's why I just paused the video to write this. IT'S AMAZING!!! Even Jeremy Clarkson, the man who hates everything, said it was amazing!!! Clarkson!!

    Should have tried keeping the power-band at 5k and it's a different car. It's relaxed under 4k. It'll be smooth when you want to cruise, and a demon when you're screamin'.

      You can remove the fuse so all 4 exhaust pipes are open below 4k. I did that on my grand sport and it sounds much better.

      That's exactly what I did on my '13 SS Camaro with the same NPP exhaust - sounds a lot louder than stock without having to go aftermarket exhaust as NPP is already a performance system. Also, there is a way to bypass the 1-4 skip shift for about $15 if that is annoying, which it was for me.

    I've actually never driven a tiburon before so I can't really give my thoughts on it. If I can find one to review, I will. If I had a choice I'd rather have a genesis for it's better interior, power plants, and rear wheel drive though.

    Finally glad to see someone giving a good, honest review of the Corvette. As coming from a C5 Z06 owner, I will admit that some of the things in my car and the C6s are questionable at best. At the end of the day it's all worth it, especially after beating the hell out of it on the track.

    I disagree with you on this car. I've driven the coupe version of the 2012 GS and a Miata and, I did have double the fun in the Corvette than I had in the Miata. Plus now, you can get a good used GS for around $35k to $40k.
    The GTR is an amazing platform but, the new one is a lot more expensive than a new Corvette.

    Awesome Car. Got the velocity yellow version myself with the LT4 option. Added an A&A Vortech supercharger kit so I get 650hp. ( 570hp and 500 ft pounds of torque at the wheels). No need to upgrade to the 2015 Z06 since I get the same hp and 95% of the performance.

  • @danielallocca7770
    @danielallocca7770 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never driven this car but I've owned sports cars and currently own a 370z. I know what he means - I think it is a very good point actually - about how really capable sports cars aren't as fun on the street...they can be too good. Since they are so stable and have so much power, you really don't get to feel the thrill of being on the edge below 100mph. Even in my Z (which has less power and is less capable) I often feel bored on back roads below 50 or 60 mph. The car sort of just laughs it off. If I could do it again, I would probably get more of a momentum car like a Honda S2000 since you really rev the shit out of it and get to work the car harder on your typical weekend backroad adventure

    Well he was brutally honest and did give a lot of insight. I actually appreciate the critiques because coming from someone that always wanted to own a Corvette, now I can understand some of the downsides too. I think he was very detailed and eloquent in explaining how you can't really use the power that the Corvette has on the road and its hard to have fun because of the taller gearing and because it has so much power. Of course on a track of course that is what you would want to own so I'm a little torn now.

    The reason he couldn't use all the car is because he's inexperienced. I out-grew my C6 GS M6 (dry sump) and added a ZR1 supercharger. I may never out-grow that. Plenty. Plenty. So composed. So balanced. Mag-ride is brilliant. Comfort is outstanding. No surprises in uneven road turn-in or exit. Drifts smoothly and the ECU lets you do it if you do it correctly. Perfection.

    Hey there Subaruwrxfan, I have been watching these videos for a while now and I completely love the way you format and setup the video, all the info gets put across very clear. If i'm able to request a certain car for the video, it would be a 7th gen Honda Civic (2004-2005), I would love the see your incite on it, and have another experts opinion on it. (preferably the higher trim level, the better). Thanks for your time!
