  • Shaun Whale's latest LandCruiser build is HERE! Shauno heads over to DMW Industries with his brand new 200 Series, not even a day old - and shows us how to do a PROPER ute chop!
    A chopped 200 series with a chassis extension is the ultimate ute conversion, and the result is a touring MACHINE! The boys at DMW do this everyday, and they've got it down to an art. See just what goes into chopping a 4WD into a ute and extending the chassis to make way for trays, canopies and safe weight distribution.

    Hi Shauno I live in the uk and do trips to the Sahara desert what I think you need is winches front and rear so you have full recovery when you are on your on plus you can pull your boat out the water and hitch it straight up
    Love watching you and graham off-road, one day I would love to off-road in the outback

    as an american I need to know why more aussies dont sleep in their canopie things. I remember a 4wdrive action vid years ago where they were driving up the beach on the east side of cape york think the guys name was Jaime or something, from jaime (or something's) touring concepts and he was driving a huge old landrover. Got nervous about sleeping near the crocs so he cleared out the back passengers side of the canopie and threw his swag up. Seems like a good place to throw a canvas zip off the canopie door, whack in a bed roll from an old swag and have your self a raised up water proof sleeping set up, away from the creepy crawlies and the biting handbags...

      @tcmx712 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been the norm in Aus for almost 10 years now 95% of 4wds these days have drawers and fridge slides because it's the trend (like a keeping up with jones thing). Great marketing ploy as like you said it makes the rear of the car essentially useless and once your on the road it's permanent. Nobody really camps these days anymore they're just posers that drag along camper trailers or offroad caravans that are setup like resorts showing off how flash and expensive their setup is and sit in the aircon anyway, bit sad really whats happened to the Aussie outdoor lifestyle

  • @t4172
    @t4172 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gday mate! I’ve actually drummed up an idea to buy a “clear view spider” mounted into the canopy and to a arb dual compressor then have air sockets mounted above each tire then that way you only have to have a small length of air hoses connected to each wheel! And further to that you can control all the air on all 4 tires or! If you want to spilt different psi’s just turn the taps off on the spider tank!

    Australia needs the full size Tundra to be sold there. That would solve the problem of having to convert suvs to trucks.

    • @tomback3238
      @tomback3238 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah mate, in the 200 you get rear coils stock and a narrower chassis, the 200 is already an extremely wide vehicle in Australia, and the tundra is even wider again which would be inconvenient for our road widths and parking etc. 200 interior also is a luxury with less road noise and more comfort etc and 200 parts over here are a dime a dozen. Its an all round more capable off road vehicle, not to mention the traction control as well when compared to the tundra

    • @jeeper390
      @jeeper390 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was gonna ask the same thing. You can get all the luxury options and traction control in the Tundra and it would be far cheaper to convert it to coils than a ute conversion, but they are MASSIVE trucks and there's getting around that.

    • @ScottSouthy
      @ScottSouthy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Word of the day, Over engineering!!!

    • @ToddSwagerty
      @ToddSwagerty 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      As a mechanical engineer, I kept saying "Overbuilt isn't overengineered!" Over engineered is when you spend too much time working out the forces and stresses on a component and design it to be just strong enough without being too heavy. It is often cheaper to just make it a little stronger and not worry too much about the weight.

    I’ve yet to find me someone that can come up with a super strong and safe cv that will be at least as good as a live axle.
    Given how tough you drive your trucks, a compliment btw, I really want to see how you solve this problem.
