One of the reasons I was waiting for this unit to happen was to be able to see what san could do if he's given the chance to, and he made sure to show the incredibly talented vocalist he is. San is actually the lead vocalist of the group, but since he has become such a standing figure for stage presence and dancing in kpop (he is the role model for A LOT of 4th and 5th gen idols for this) his original position has been overlooked by new fans and even resulted in getting less vocally challenging parts in the songs since he had to concentrate more in performing. There is a reason our Choi Brothers are the Main and Lead Vocalists of Ateez. People, especially new people discovering Ateez, tend to sleep on San’s vocals. His main position is Lead Vocalists. JongHo has also worked so hard on his vocals and continues to do so. Working with vocal coaches even while they are in LA right now. I just love them so much. And I am so proud of all of Ateez right now. My Atiny heart is melting.

His dancing and facial expressions gets you and his vocals are missed in the process... Seonghwa and Yunho's vocals are so stable live, even when they are dancing so heavily and their vocal range is just wow... Wooyoung's high tone and Yeosang's bass voice just elevates their songs... Hongjoong is good at all positions and he sometimes covered for Jongho when the latter was injured... And Mingi has been improved on his singing a lot these last couple of years and has been incorporating them in his solo songs and a few times in Ateez's songs as well... Honestly, they'll most likely all deliver this same reaction from you if you happen to watch their individual covers. Yeah, so San had zero dance experience when he was accepted to KQ, he got in purely on vocal skill, looks, flexibility from tae kwon do and raw determination. Look where our mans is now! :) He's a phenomenal dancer now, but his vocals kind of get buried under all that, and also, of no fault of either of them, he kind of gets buried underneath Jongho vocals, too, because maknae is a powerhouse.

If you watch behind the scenes vids or their logbooks, San is CONSTANTLY singing. When he joined Ateez, he didn’t even know how to dance and made it in on vocals alone. There is a vid someone called Cat recently made called Ateez Raw Vocals Compilation- Short Version, if you want to get a feel for each of their voices. Some other vocal heavy songs that have MVs are Utopia, Turbulence (there are some great versions of this song live… and a drunk version), and Inception. In concert, the song Star 11117 has each of their vocals separately and is beautiful. Atiny was named on 11/17 and Star 1117 is a song for the fans.

Yed san does a lot of the harmonies actually. He's main vocal haha itd just that he got so good at dancing snd performing that that id talked a lot. @@emmylia the only reason he's not considered "main vocal" is bc jongho does most of the high notes which is the position's requirement. however, san can also do high notes (i.e. his high note in star 1117 for example). he has the makings of a main vocal for kpop standards and tbh i consider him to be one in ateez due to his technique and sustain abilities even though he's barely treated like a lead vocalist lately

san actually audition as vocalist.... and he has many beautiful parts in ateez songs especially bsides... and he often harmonizes with other members.
