    No doubt this’ll be one that everyone has different opinions on, you know because of subjectivity, so gimme your bottom 5 tracks, if there are 5 that you hate. Also, I never played the original Forza so if that had any stinkers, which were they?

      I played Forza 5 non stop.. Missed 6 and got into 7 late.. VIR was hard and also Dubai. COTA feels weird and was hard to learn. YAS I've never fully loved and its rife for dirty racing. Never liked Monza ever. Homesteads are boring. Rio is gnarly bumpy and way too narrow. Yuk.
      But Maple Valley I adore first time as wasn't in 5. My favourite is Nordschleife 4m48s Best.

      I hate Rio because you can't overtake in most places, those damn bumps everywhere and it is a ramming fiesta.
      Top gear is bad because it's completely boring.
      Don't like some virginia layout with those stupid blind left-righ-left turns with walls everywhere you have to take at 1mph.
      The best is the one and only nurburgring complete track.

    Gonna have to disagree on Homestead. As a big oval racing fan, I really love the nature of the Oval. And the road course is pretty good to. Sure it's a challenge but that's what makes it fun. I will say the Alt layouts are a bit dumb, but to me there's a bit of a novelty to racing on these weird circuits.
    Although I will fully agree on yeeting Dubai for the next game. I never really played it in online lobby's, but even in single player I began to dread this track after a few times. #engagementgang

    I almost fully agree with this list. The only one I’m not sure about is COTA, but in saying that it is perfect for the corner cutters and rammers out there, who seem to be out in forces right now. In saying that, on it’s own I think it’s quite a good track to drive. Still, there are so many other tracks I’d love to see over these and hopefully even some really good fantasy tracks in future. As for real life tracks I’d love to see, places like Kyalami would be brilliant, I also have a real soft spot for Twin Ring Motegi so that would be nice, and you could even have your oval with that if the devs felt like another oval was needed for some reason. Past those, maybe even some of the F1 circuits past and present which could produce some great racing. Sepang would be amazing, although very far fetched I imagine. Oh and one last track which I certainly couldn’t forget, give us Interlagos please. With an honourable mention for magny cours as well because I love that track even though I highly doubt we’d ever see it!

    I got a racing wheel for Assetto Corsa Competizione and tried playing Forza 7 with the wheel. It doesn't take much to turn the wheel and be at full lock. Adjusting the settings doesn't help either. So I virtually stop playing it all together and focus on Assetto Corsa Competizione.

      Same here. I got a G920 back in late 2017 and FM7 has really only been useful as a timewaster for when I want to race without effort, and it's still boring.
      Not to mention just how horrendously unoptimized the Forzatech Engine is for wheel use. I get lift-off oversteer in practically every corner and trail braking is impossible.

    I actually enjoy Rio de Janeiro, and I understand your point, although I think it's a different problem. The fact that the track Is bumpy, tight and very demanding means that there is no room for mistake, and I really appreciate these sort of tracks, because they are out of the ordinary. (In fact I can recall many occasions where I had good racing there) The problem is when you put it in an online lobby most of the time it's just absolute chaos.

    Homestead (and IMS) are great tracks, specially the oval, however Forza really need to tweak the way oval racing works to make doing a 50 lap race in an Indycar around Indy an enjoyable experience.

    • @Dat-Mudkip
      @Dat-Mudkip 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recall I once did an offline race in a pack of 24 Indy Cars at IMS. I set the race to 20-something laps, unusually long for me (outside of NASCAR).
      I made it through the first corner, then ended up pile-driving a bot who had spun out. What confused me was that the other AI started checking up without warning. I watched the replay and figured it out. You know how most drivers will hit the brakes when they see smoke? Well, Forza 7, for "optimization" reasons (I guess?), smoke disappears very quickly, like within a second.
      Essentially, the bots could see smoke (and the spinning car), but I had no way to see it. So I pile-drove into the rear of three other cars. That pissed me off. Smoke is an important indicator that something has gone wrong; I'm not going to expect the bots to jam the brakes on a straightaway without reason.
      Come to think of it, I haven't played Forza since that day...huh...

    COTA and Yas would have a better reputation if T10 implemented sticky grass/ pavement instead of weirdly placed tyre walls. I can understand that in a hot lapping setting both the tracks can be dull, and in a pub lobby the racing gets overshadowed by cutters. But both of these track actually provide extremely good/ close races with skilled players in similarly matched equipment.
    Just a different perspective.

    I think Tilkedromes get more hate then they deserve....
    Many of them provide really good racing in reality (apart from F1) and are quite nice to drive in the games. I agree on the enormous runoffs, they don´t punish mistakes. Which sucks in games but save lives and damages in reality, so I understand the use of them.
    What kills Tilke as a track designer is the fact that there are no other track designers used for the big new circuits. He has his style which is fine and it wouldn´t be so bad if there were 3 or 4 designers with their individual styles. Every "new" circuit feels similar because he designed it his way.

  • @skraegorn7317
    @skraegorn7317 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The homestead speedway alt and super mini layouts don’t exist IRL. I don’t know why they put the speedway alt layout in but I find the super mini circuit to be a fantastic testing track. It’s 2 long straights, a hairpin, and a double apex turn. It’s good to test handling and not much else IMO. Same for the Long Beach short layout, that would be good only if Forza had karts.

  • @m-seb
    @m-seb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Forza suffers from serious bloat when it comes to alt layouts and there is also very little in the way of filtering. GT3 endurance (and other fast classes) should NEVER have to race on short layouts, certain alt layouts (Suzuka alt for instance) are there just to fill up space. Sonoma and VIR make the game a literal guessing game as you don't know what variant you're on until it (literally) hits you in the face.
    Also I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one that thinks that Forza's fictional tracks are really not that good.

      Should absolutely be full tracks only for GT lobbies, and even then there are a bunch of layouts that really ought to not be in rotation for multiplayer. It’s such an easy fix, but they just can’t seem to be bothered to do it.

  • @lantastic8606
    @lantastic8606 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Oh man I'd love to see you try to fix Dubai. It's just a boring track with some really bad features. There's one line through the track with almost no margin for error and each mistake or deviation costs several tenths, if not more.
    COTA looks like it should be fun but is just boring. Most turns on Yas are a chore. But how dare you consider VIR--it's one of the best tracks in the game, ribbons and all that notwithstanding. It gets a bad rep because it's hard and most folks don't know it too well. Also because between all the alternate layouts and night/rain options it has like 27 times the chance of being selected as an environment over Laguna Seca with it's single layout/time of day/weather. But the standard layout is almost like a fantasy track (not a T10 fantasy track mind you), but real, with how all the turns and elevation changes are laid out. And it's quite a balanced track to boot.

      Forgot to mention my bottom 5 would be very similar. But I really dislike Hockenheim and I would be very tempted to include it. It's kind of a cluster for racing in Forza, and it feels like a chore to hotlap.

    COTA is the worst multiplayer map imo due to the sheer amount of votes it gets combined with the cutters wet dream. yas is unplayable as well despite being a decent track. also, homestead alt should not be a multiplayer lobby but I strongly believe it is actually a tuner’s track that is almost necissary for dialing in ARB ratios. also i seriously dislike any alps variant since it exaggerates class imbalances.

    Unpopular opinion: Yas Marina is awesome, but only in full layout and with similar cars such as V8 Supercars, BTCC, or GT3/E.
    F1 is too quick for the track, and the track's side-by-side potential is wasted because of that.

    It's to look at the fantasy tracks of the xbox one era of Forza Motorsport and realize how out of touch with Motorport these games were. Fantasy street circuit at prague instead of Brno which is a real circuit in Czech republic, fantasy track street circuit at rio instead of Interlagos, fantasy street circuit at Dubai, instead of Dubai Autodrome, and they wasted time travelling to these places to record data and make more realistic tracks, which caused this tracks to be mediocre at best for actual racing. Sweeping fast corners, sharp slow corners, a long back straight with a chicane, long corners with tightening apexs, elevation changes both straight and in corners and that "Hill Climb Esque switchback section was amazing for tuning out understeer/oversteer.
      Admitedly, I was never a fan of bernese alps unless it was lower class for those flat out "momentum is key" races. But otherwise totally agree.
      I adore tsukuba, a car down on power can win there, if it has great brakes, sharp turn in and good on power traction.
      Le Mans O.M I found good for nailing your gear ratios, I use this track to work out my final drive and final gear ratio maximums and then can gear a car to a circuit based of that.

    COTA: agree
    Yas Marina: disagree (ok with drivers who can behave themselves)
    Homestead: disagree (super-mini and speedway alt suck, but the rest are good)
    Rio: agree (Coast Loop would be perfect if they axed the chicane, but they should've just brought back the original)
    Maple Valley: disagree, but you make a good point (full reverse does suck though)
    Prague: reverse layouts (just, no)
    Top Gear: agree
    Dubai: agree (City Circuit Alt is ok, would be better if they'd clean that one turn)
    Personal worst tracks (no circuits as a whole, just certain layouts)
    VIR: everything but full and North suck
    Bernese Alps: a favorite since its inception, but Stadtplatz and Club do not work in their reverse iterations
    Daytona: Short/Moto (did it really have to be included?)
    Indy: GP (much prefer the classic version)
    Lime Rock: South Chicane and Full alt
    Long Beach: West Route (would prefer to have an East route alt using the Formula e chicane)
    Road America: anything that isn't the full route (especially the moto chicane layouts)
    Sebring: Club (would remove from list if it's pit was utilized and start/finish is relocated to it)
    Silverstone: GP and International (the first unlikely to be going anywhere, but Abbey was far more enjoyable as a chicane than a sweeper, the arena section sucks, and RIP Bridge corner)
    Suzuki: Full alt and both West layout (stop including the damn moto layouts)
    VIR: anything that isn't the full or North layouts

    Definitely joined the group of arcade games.
    Forza 8 will must to be a completely different game if it want to bring back those who have already abandoned the game.
    Great channel Devon. Success!
    Greetings from Brazil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Totally agree. There is no simcade on Xbox to compete with GT Sport. Forza has gone right the way down the simcade scale and is now full on arcade. Motorsport should not even be in the title. 100's of cars, 99% of them sh*t ( well maybe 99% is a bit hyperbolic, but this is a rant so hyperbole is to be expected :-p ). No rankings, no matchmaking, no serious racing at all. Such a big community, but if they don't get 8 right and actually deliver a "Motorsport" game with race cars, rankings, penalties, and competitions to nurture and grow the community then more will switch Playstation and Forza as a brand will be forever known as 100% arcade.

    I agree with the start of this list, circuit of the Americas I despise, Marina I don't even want to talk about, but personally I like Rio and Dubai, Ill give a reason why.
    Yes its bumpy and throw a full lobby into it it can be pretty chaotic but I find when im in a good lobby of clean racers its quite enjoyable, I feel like the un-evenness of the road adds to the track rather takes away from it, its another challenge that most other tracks in Forza don't have and it makes myself really think about how fast I can go into the turns. don't get triggered by this im not trying to be nasty but I think that most people that complain about the bumps on Rio are just bad drivers, or maybe they just need more experience and someone to coach them through it.
    As for Dubai, sometimes it'll come up in the lobby and I wont feel like playing it, sometimes it can be redundant, but I like the options in short courses it has and most times I enjoy playing the shorter courses more. However, like how Rio is bumpy Dubai has quite a few off-cambered corners up in the tight mountain sections which not a lot of other tracks have and I feel like this adds to it rather then takes away. Again I say this not to be nasty but most players probably don't like this track because they are bad drivers, or maybe they just need more experience and someone to coach them through it, but I will also admit of coming un-stuck in the downhill section of the track more times then I can count

    I usually like tracks I'm good at and hate the tracks I'm shit. COTA's racing line feels just weird to me and I can't get it right. VIR is awful because of the 20 layouts/rain/night and the ability of people bumping you off track easily. I also don't like any version of Homestead and it comes so often on multiplayer lobbies which is frustrating.

    Personally I think all Forza custom tracks should be completely scrapped from the game and more real tracks should be added, this is one of the reasons I stopped playing FM7 and started playing Project Cars 2 because the track selection is actually more fun and interesting on there. The next Forza Motorsport title really needs to do a lot in terms of track selection and racing for me to enjoy it and please add tracks like Oulton Park, Red Bull Ring and Donnington to name a few. #engagementgang

    Dubai and Alps are just terrible. They've had great fictional tracks over the years but prioritizing people who take pictures in a MOTORSPORT game is ridiculous. Maple Valley, Sunset Peninsula, Fuji Kaido. Now that they can rest their "game for car people" hands on Horizon, I hope that FM8 is a game for racing people. I wont' hold my breath though. T10 works for moneysoft after all.

    I quite like Cota...in other games. For some reason Forza's Cota just doesn't sit right. In other games it tends to be quite nice to drive and u get into a rhythm. In forza it just seems like you never settle in. Maybe its the curbs or Forza's handling in general, but it just feels off.

    I only race in the gt hopper nowadays so I don't have to deal with Dubai anymore. But I have grown to really hate Maple and the Americas, also Prauge has become a track I usually spectate or just find a new lobby when it pops up. Why these tracks are in the rotation when Laguna Seca and the Nordschleife aren't is beyond me... Do turn 10 seriously think people would rather race GT cars round Maple Valley short, in the rain, over Laguna Seca?!

    • @JustDevon
      @JustDevon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s more a problem of apathy on their behalf than not knowing what people want to do. It wouldn’t take long at all to change the rotation so it only has full tracks, but they can’t be arsed to do it.
      An early example of this is when they first had the GT lobby, it had sim damage instead of fuel and tyres and when told about it, they just turned damage off altogether and then turned it back to sim damage and left it there. I mean how hard can it be to just set it to fuel and tyres, the way it was in Forza 6 and the way the lobby was initially described in game

    Yas Marina: It has great racing for GT3, just F1 isn’t it
    Homestead: I got nothing but at least another layout🤣
    Rio: now THAT track is DISGUSTING.
    Maple Leaf: Also DISGUSTING
    Dubai: Meh

    I know you don't like Tilke tracks. But I really like COTA. Its a mix of everything and requires full attention for the entire race. But it has a rhythm and flow that can be rewarding.
    Totally agree on every other track. And for the exact same reasons. Also, 2 things. 1, can we please limit the number of layouts? Seriously, we only need two or three layouts. Full, mid and short. Additionally, make the track selections match the divisions. Mini coopers on Nordschleiffe, and Formula 1 cars on long beach mini, is ridiculous.
    2, please, please, please! Release track packs instead of car packs. I really dont want to buy another 7 car pack where I may only drive 1 of the cars. And even then only rarely. At least tracks will get used and hold some value. Car packs are just dumb.

    Dubai normal? Hot garbage. Dubai reverse? Actually quite enjoyable. Swapping the ugly tight hillclimb for a fast flowing uphill section, the downhill is all about momentum, starting off slow and building up as you make your way down to the start. The sandy bit can do one though, someone get out a broom and remove that silly sand drift over the road.

  • @gregavrzel0

    • @JustDevon
      @JustDevon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the ideal world, we should struggle to tell if a fantasy track is real or not, right now you can spot it a mile off and you’re absolutely right that they seem to all follow a formula. Sunset Peninsula is a good example of one done right, it looked and felt like a legit oval infield track.

  • @BOKtober

    I really like rio but maybe they could smooth it out a bit, top gear is trash and shouldn’t be in the next forza along with all the really short versions of most tracks. Anything with less then 7 corners or takes under 30 seconds in say S just shouldn’t be in the game.
    All I want in public lobbies is 5-8 laps (depending on track length) of full circuit or variation, none of this 10 laps on tiny tracks that are basically a square crap

    Some choices I agree with. COTA is just for modern F1 cars and even then kinda sucks and shouldn't be in Forza. Yas Marina shouldn't be in Forza because of the absurd levels of runoff area. (Good fun in single player races though) Homestead is one of those tracks where I wish it was still in, but some of the layouts were not. Rio I'm a bit conflicted on. Great to drive, horrible for racing. Maple Valley isn't my favourite track, not even from the old Forza games, but I'm still glad it's here. It proves Turn10 knows and cares somewhat about their past. TopGear is again, great to drive, horrible for racing. Dubai is basically the same story as Rio. Great to drive, horrible for racing. It is however useful for hillclimb tournaments and stuff like that. Hell, it's one of Forza's only tracks where you can somewhat do soapbox racing.
