Sport tires have the same lateral G capacity as medium race tires but far superior longevity, just have to be cautious you don’t over heat them. You’ll lose some places in qualifying but make them back in the end of the race due to tire life and the extra PI can be used for weight reduction, power, wider tires. I don’t put race tires on anything anymore and my cars are easily a 2.5 sec faster a lap around Grand Oak
