Sherman is probably one of the best mediums there is, the stabiliser is so nice and the mobility isn’t even terribly subpar
It's nice most nations atleast have one, it helps with grinding a bit as most the time they give decent rp and sl modifiers and also at the point your playing multiple nations your pretty good at playing the sherman

Honestly, the 76 has gotten me from 4.7 all the way up to 10.0
It's a phenomenal medium tank that just blows everything around it out of the water. I have zero doubt that they'll eventually move it to 5.0, or even 5.3
When I was deployed to Kuwait, there was a Sherman at Camp Beuhring, just sitting near the patch of sand we called our motorpool. honestly it's the coolest tank.

I also went to Saudi Arabia during Operation Friendship, something that was such a big disaster that you can find almost no info about it online except some Arabic news article. Our Battalions HQ company got to go to Iraq, our Charlie company (infantry) went to Oman, and our Alpha company (sister Armored company) went to UAE. It was very hot and I got to ride a camel.

@@Riviera5252if I remember correctly the thunderbolt Sherman was a jumbo Sherman (76?) with a front plate of a normal Sherman bolted on top of the jumbos front plate. Yo dawg I heard you liked front plate armor, so I bolted a front plate onto your double welded front plate!

The Sherman was such a sturdy and reliable tank not only did it adapt its way through multiple wars, it’s also survived one of the greatest fuddlore slander campaigns in military history.

Strv103s are broken at their respective BRs if their player isn't a dumb fuck who rushes, on city maps you: camp a corner then move on...on open or mixed maps you camp and dominate the battle with your laser rangefinder, low silhuette and armor that even APFSDS can't pen.

This is my 79th attempt at asking spookston to play the t32e1. All the shermans are one of the most consistent vehicles in the game in any br thats why I love them so much gotta be one of my favorite tanks in the game.
They're the most consistent vehicle in knowing that most people probably know the weak points and where to insta kill you. They're undoubtedly fun to play though. Except once you get to the higher br Sherman's. They're just incredibly out of place then

My guess for why you are so often the target of bombs is that you are usually in a strategic position, making you the most important/obvious target.
Plus 90% of the time they are revenge bombs. But to be totally honest if I saw someone slaughtering my team like spookston id bomb them too. When you're that good you become a priority target.

@@maxberlinski2214 absolutely, it sounds like such a cope but when you have the perfect angle flying provides to take out a good player/tank its almost your responsibility to take them out. Cant tell you how many times I see allies bomb a asu57 with a 1000lbs bomb and ignore the kv-1e.

I've been using it for a couple of months now. It is awesome. Turret rotation and reload speeds make it a great bruiser
Out of all the m4s, this one I like the look of the most, especially cause of the bare treads without the sideskirts. No sideskirts make tanks look cooler imo
I feel like the curves make it look kind of stupid compared to other Shermans that look more menacing

In terms of logistics, Sherman tank is perfect for fighting across the Pacific & the Atlantic. Ease of productions, maintenance & crew training is the key to fight a long war of attrition.
2:28 i remember someone talking about it and how General Patton didnt say anything negative about it compared to the other tank crews putting as much snadbags, wooden logs and tracks on their tanks for extra armor witch Patton did not like
Chieftain recently had a video talking about it where he said the tests of such improvised armor usually showed that it not only overloaded the tank and made it less maneuverable and prone to breakages, but often actually increased the effectiveness of enemy fire. Track pieces would protect enemy shells from shattering and increase angle pen, similarly with sandbags and wood. Random soft crap on the tank was usually not thick enough to protect againsy heat, but would give the warhead long enough to form the copper enema even with imperfect fusing, etc
I love the m4a1 76, I think I have the most kills in the US tree with it! I just didn’t really see the need to drain the hours into the other 76 Sherman’s when they were just marginal improvements. Also 4.7 is fun to bully stugs and panzer 4s
Watching Spookston play makes me feel like he gets the dumb players while I’m getting the players that know how to clip their bullets through walls and hills

Reverse speed aside, it's just hard to go wrong with a US Sherman. The 105 Sherman at 2.7 was busted, the regular 75 Shermans feel so nice, the 76s are a nice step up in firepower, and both Jumbos are a joy to use when not uptiered. The power of stabs, .50 cals, and power traverse with only 1 exception in the US tree.
And yes, I do love the idea of a 4.7 "Super Pershing" :3

Honestly I will say that the Sherman's were pretty mid of ww2. They weren't great tanks, but they weren't bad tanks.
In fact they weren't entirely meant for direct tank on tank combat. They were meant to be infantry support. Although having the cannon did mean it could stand a chance against a tank if it ran into one.

You should check out the ZTZ88, they didn’t move up during the recent BR shift and are quite busted at 8.7, imo

As an American...its funny how we changed from quantiy to quality...the Sherman fell more in line with Quanitity role...make enough that the other side will either run out of ammo or be flanked
Tbe US went with both because when a tank breaks down the nearest American factory is an entire ocean away
this thing had a place in my lineup for AGES in my (still ongoing) US ground grind, and it is great
just gonna suggest the ikv103 again since its such a goblin and also some of the casemate italian tank destroyers, theyre super fun from what ive seen
I highly suggest that you try out the M60A1, with the recent br changes the thing is a beast. Compared to other MTBs at its br the thing just seems to tank shots, and it’s gun although isn’t spectacular is more than enough to deal with 90% of threats frontally with its APDS. It just seems to farm nukes.

There's something about the Shermans that make me feel satisfied playing them. I drive it, I aim it, I shoot with it, it feels really smooth. Whether it be in AB or RB. Like an ultimate form of balance.
Seeing some WWII gameplay is actually refreshing.
One thing that i have noticed with the Shermans, or rather with American tanks in rank 3/4. Is how much quieter it is then vehicles of other Nations. I end up catching people so much more by suprise with the Shermans than any other tank.
I think thats a skill issue with your opponents.

Hey Spook, you should play the Semovente 75/46 M43. It's a deeply overshadowed italian tank destroyer which can deliver an heavy punch but it's deeply ignored the potential it has. I am not gonna surrender in proposing this.

the last Sherman in active service was with the Chilean army as the M60 with a 60mm HVMS Gun till 1999 before being replaces by leopards 1's
At 3:12 i made the exact same shot with a tiger E and it non penned. On protection analysis it said the effective thickness of that spot is about 110mm and showed the pzgr round penning it consistently and killing the tank
The M4A1 76 is one of my favorites. It's one of the vehicles that landed me a 26 kill game in GRB a couple years ago.

You should try the Eland 90 it has a half decent cannon and is the literal definition of a rat tank, AKA right up your alley.
I still had the M4A1 (76) in my lineup when I got the M4A3 (76) and honestly it’s a little slower but man that gun is nice
The M4A1 (76) is honestly pretty darn good even in uptiers. I never rely on the armor of a Sherman unless I'm in a 75 Jumbo in a downtier, but the 76mm gun with a stabilizer is fantastic. Honestly I'm tempted to make a lineup of just Sherman 76 variants, could probably do fine with that. The armor scheme is similar on all Sherman variants except the Jumbo, so uptiers are't as big of an issue since the armor doesn't seem to work most of the time anyway. Would love to see the M103 or MBT-70/XM-803
You should try to get 10 kills with the Type 60 SPRG, only having 10 rounds total. My personal record is 9 after rearming 18 rounds lol

Hey, I really think you should revisit the ELC Bis. I was not a fan of it when it got released, but I think it’s much more playable in the current META at 6.0. It’s basically a scorpion, but better imo

Sherman and it's derivatives are underrated. I have tried the German and Chinese tech trees and the Sherman is the best medium tank overall. It not about what benefits you won't have if you pick it, it's about what disadvantages you don't have to deal with if you drive the Sherman.
Love playing shermans. I always feel like it gets underestimated. I bounce plenty of shells, pen is alright, stabilizers, and good mobility!

Sherman is the most bang for the buck WWII medium tank made to be shipped overseas and fight the good fight in highest efficiency
T-34 is the least bucks for the bang WWII Medium tanks built to roll out of bombed out factories as fast as many as possible, readily available to fight the battle right outside, and repaired with whatever was still in the toolbox within the hour to transport troops to fight more nazis
German tanks are only "good" because gaijin doesn't simulate spontaneous malfunctions

Also I play this tank more than any other and as of recent US 4.7 has lost every bit of brain activity. Was in a squad of three and we combined for 18-32 kills per round and often found ourselves the only ones left on our team. Our teams would generate at most 7 kills and be cleaned off the map.
I love this tank and the fact it doesn't really have a tech tree lineup at 4.7 is really sad. Either you have to uptier it to 5.0-5.3 or you have to uptier 3.7-4.0 tanks to its BR to have at least something to spawn in case you die.
7:55 Spookston is literally that one Clone coruscant guard on the banking planet when he is surrounded and is mowing down droids before eventually falling.
the M4A1 76 at the current BR just easily slaps everyone, easily gets at least 5 kills with it. No issues when uptiered as well
I remember grinding for this tank, I wasnt disappointed when i finally got it. I have to be extremely careful tho as it gets killed by 1 shot easily. On a side note some of the most fun I've had in a game is when I take the T-34-85 D-T out in a lineup with the IS-6, difficult but satisfying

gun depression on the arl-44 is like having a stroke and ending up with half your face frozen and the turret armor is thin and huge for no reason.

When it's realy just the CAS Pilot going for the first and most convenient target he sees about 90% of the time lmao. They're Air Vermin. They do t care how effective you are, they care how many kills they can farm while in the air 😂

I don't know if you will see this Spookston, but you can tell if you have been spotted if you look in the bottom left corner of your screen. You will see a binocular Icon, that when it lights up means you have been scouted. It's right next to the Icons that also light up when you lose important crew members.

I have a love hate relationship with the Sherman, I main USSR and when I was grinding the US tech tree I would never use the stabilizer and would underestimate how tall I was but then when I went back to play low BR USSR I kept forgetting I didn’t have the stabilizer.
This tank can still hold its own against 6.7 vehicles, just need to play more passive. But still can get some work done

That's why I enjoy 4.0-ish match. People generally don't quit, which is kinda fun. (Except for the barrage of CAS)
M4s and T34s are not only one of the best tanks ever made, but also the type of tank you can always have fun with. Never doubt on the 76 and 85mms

(outside WT and other games) I doubt that the T34 was one of the best tanks ever made. Infact I believe that the M4 has much more to offer than the T34
T-34 design good, took them a while to get higher quality tanks on the field. Were, dirt cheap, easy to produce and Just solid
The M4 is a brilliant piece of engineering. You have to wonder what the western allies would have used without it. Crusaders? Crowmells?
Spookston, I don’t know if this helped, but i think the M4AI 76 Turret might have saved more tank crewmen lives by not having a muzzle. i don’t know if this is true as well, but apperently Panzer crewmen were taught to target the Sherman’s with the 76mm because it was the Turret that can ACTUALLY Penetrate the front of the Panther,panzer 4 and Tiger, and si ce it doesn’t have a muzzle brake at the front, it could have helped a little to hide the 76mm. (unless they know the general shape of the Back of the turret and the barrel being longer for the 76mm, instead of the shorter barrel of the 75mm gun)

the swedish bt-42. imagine a bt7 with a kv2 turret strapped to it. absolutely demolishes anything it comes in contact with
the german sd kfz 140/1. basically the 20 mil puma turret slapped onto a pz38(t), and included in the german starter bundle. plus, it’s at an even lower br than the puma

The A1 Sherman 76 must be the most hideously overpowered mediums in the game, even i who dosen't really play US gets consistently aces in 6.7 games with this monsters, one of the many way overlooked and overpowered US ground vehicles

M4A1 76w has been my fav tank in WT for a long time.
You see a 76mm is really nice, my m18 has shown me that. Problem comes with the fact the rest of my line up has a 75, and a 75... as soon as the m18 dies my chance if killing someone drops by 90%

You should play the Ostwind II, its absurdly good at AA as its HE shells can go mach 2.6, and its APHE shells can side-pen a Sherman (and an IS6 frontally if Erwin Rommel guides your shells).
