A square yellow sponge named SpongeBob SquarePants lives in a pineapple with his pet snail, Gary, in the city of Bikini Bottom on the floor of the Pacific Ocean. He works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. During his time off, SpongeBob has a knack for attracting trouble with his starfish best friend, Patrick. Arrogant octopus Squidward Tentacles, SpongeBob's neighbor, dislikes SpongeBob because of his childlike behavior.

Honestly, Squidward pretending to be Santa just to make SpongeBob happy is one of the most wholesome things this show has brought.
I agree. This is one of the rare moments Squidward cares about SpongeBob.
Squidward is kinda like the Grinch in this episode. Both of them were against the idea of Christmas, and their hearts grew after realizing why the holiday is so special.

Any character that is a grump or a jerk during the Christmas season is often compared to the Grinch or Mr. Scrooge.

The lengths Squidward went to to make SpongeBob happy was really touching. And I'm gladyou finally met the amazing character that is Patchy the Pirate.
Not to mention that in "Christmas Who?," Squidward was a big time Scrooge.
Let's be honest, the citizens suffering cuz of sandy was total karma for them for bullying spongebob all because of his caring love for his grandma 😌
Sandy doesn't appear for the rest of "Christmas Who?" which I always found strange, even as a kid. We never got to see how her Christmas went down despite introducing the concept to SpongeBob in the first place.

SpongeBob has had two great Christmas specials, but Christmas Who easily stands out the most. This is honesty one of the best Christmas specials ever. It perfectly captures the spirit of the holiday and its very heartwarming. I like how Squidward, who was against the idea of Christmas at first, decides to make SpongeBob and everyone happy by giving them presents, even though most of it came from his house.
The later season Christmas episode is also great. It’s done entirely in stop-motion animation to pay homage to the classic Rankin-Bass Christmas specials from the ‘60s and ‘70s. But you have a long ways until you get there, that episode isn’t until season 8.
Season 11 also has a stop-motion Halloween special that’s pretty good; I personally prefer it over Scaredy Pants.

@@nickmathur5950 Season 11 also had "Goons on the Moon" which Nickelodeon called "SpaceBob MerryPants" and marketed as a Christmas episode, even though it really doesn't turn into a Christmas episode until the second half.
This one definitely takes a little inspiration from “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”
Patrick with the ice cream walking home being like, “Who are you people!?” will never not be funny.
Best way to end off any episode.

The Christmas special was great. The very first Christmas to me song is so jolly and freaking hilarious, especially Spongebob's Christmas dance and Mr. Krabs' high-pitched note. Squidward dressed as Santa was so wholesome

The one thing I noticed about the Christmas Special is that they completely left out the Naught or Nice rule about getting gifts from Santa. We know some characters that can be questionably naughty in this show so, it would’ve made sense to establish that rule from the get go.

Sandy really loves extreme sports a lot. Spongebob and Patrick stealing a balloon on free balloon day was very funny. Also Spongebob and his friends celebrating their first Christmas is very incredible.
It's always great to see that Squidward really cares in the End.
Honestly Squidward going above and beyond to make SpongeBob and all the other people happy is one of the best things Squidward has ever done❤❤

I'm really glad you two enjoy watching the show ! From season 6 to 8, it got weaker but don't worry, at Season 9B, it got a lot better.
Nah, the current seasons feel more immature than before and they tend to copy a lot from the past seasons too + taking into account the fact they haven't received that much positive reception from both old and new fans alike.
id say from season 5 it got weaker... there are a few hidden gems in it but the majority is annoying lol

I make sure to watch this special every Christmas, and I listen to The Very First Christmas multiple times during that time of year.
This Christmas special is my all-time favorite episode. I look for it every year. It's not Christmas until I see this and the Hershey Kiss We Wish you a Merry Christmas commercial.
I remember they use to rerun it every Christmas for a while at least until "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" and then more Christmas specials started popping up in later seasons.
You know as a kid I always thought Santa didn't come to bikini-bottom originally because everyone was awake waiting for him and the only reason Santa did end up coming was because of what Squidward did for the town.
Also I was so surprised when my mom said she never thought of that.😂
Also, my headcanon is that Santa gave Squidward a replacement for all his stuff And why he still got it.

The Christmas Special is such a good episode; the comedy is on-point and it's as heartwarming as most other iconic Christmas movies. The two most recent Christmas specials are pretty good, too, especially the stop-motion one!! ❤🎄🎁🦌☃️🍬

These 3 episodes are amazing. Not only is this the first Christmas special of the series, not only is it the first half hour SpongeBob episode but it's also the first time we meet patchy the Pirate and you'll be seeing him quite a bit through out the series. Yes, that is in fact, Tom Kenny who plays as patchy.
