I love Frances! sooo awesome to hear someone call hollywood out on her bullshit. she says what she wants, does what she wants and it's inspiring. Also, fantastic interviewer
.......and Three Billboards.. real talent, honest, unpretentious ... a lot of love in the heart .. LOVE ALL OF HER! and "social media is the devil incarnate"
I loved watching this and I love her work. However, suggesting that she isn't simultaneously insulated and empowered due to her husband is just not reality. That relationship allows her to say (more) honestly about what's going on. Anyone else and they would never work again. Not to mention, if she looked like Margot Robbie, it would, again, be a different conversation, if there was a conversation at all. And don't get me wrong, I think Robbie is a fantastic actor, but due to our patriarchal misogynist society, men in leadership filmmaker roles, male audience members all feel as if they have a right to her, have a right to her body at least visually. Incels were quite a startingly phenomenon to me as they made physical, given voice to the subconscious underpinnings of our entirely male-dominated society. In grad school, I had one of the males ask me when we can stop talking about sexism and women as a disadvantaged identity. I said even given women are 51% of the world's population, we can stop talking about it when 35% of business leadership, from team lead to the boardroom, when government from local politicians to the US congress, the leaders of teacher's unions (where women are still far and away the majority), to therapist supervisory roles (once again, a field otherwise dominated by women), to school principals and girls-women sport's coaches, to leadership roles from Key Grip to producer to directors to lead actors in both Hollywood and TV.......are female (and are receiving the same financial and other compensation commensurate with skills, experience and position as males). 35%, that's it, and we are likely over a - *CENTURY AWAY* - from this reality, THAT's when we can stop talking about it...... .
Although I agree with some of the things she says , however, it's a bit confusing when she says , we need more adult themed films as apposed to franchise films, yet States that she met her quote worth on a franchise film Transformers and applauds Lawrence and Woodley, both star in franchise films. Surely franchise films are allowing actors to get paid for what they are worth ? I understand that there's a significant separation between Hollywood block buster and an independent film, but it's not like it's not been like that since the beginning of film making. Also I would have to disagree with her regarding male actors in superhero films. I personally can distinguish from actor from actor , I wouldn't say that ... Someone like Chris Evans as indistinguishable, he embodies captain America like captain America.
That may be true to a degree but as far as actors in franchisesin the case of chros evans. People do not mark him as cheis evan its captain america played by chris evan and you can notice any movie hr was in following people say its captain America playing the part and not chris evans
olivia onejeme that makes sense, similarly with Lawrence being known as girl from hunger games. but at the same time, would you say the same about Robert downey jr, Ruffalo, johansson etc. i would argue that they surpass the franchise brand. Like i wouldn't associate Christian Bale as batman, i would associate him as the guy that went aggro during the set of terminator or the guy from american psycho.
I think in those cases they became a brand before entering the framchise. Scarlett was a sex pot. Robert was the bad boy. Ruffalo had to prove himself. And Christian bale let his personsl issues overide his acting.
Didn’t get the walking with heels 👠 how that has anything to do why she waited to produce and the ‘hag’ remark, I just say older women are relegated to playing ‘asexual matronly’ characters. She is very natural and smart, loved Nomadland. 💚
Yaaay! Uses the word "AFFECT" instead of the over-used,abused "IMPACT" word! Good on you Frances McDormand. Fantastc interview. Her views, and, explanation of Olive Kitteridge,is brilliant.
I honestly am somewhat of a misogynist, and it STILL irritates me the unfairness between what men and women get paid. If they're doing the same work and doing it equally well, they should be paid the same. It's logical and a no brainer. Even a moron could see that should be the case. The fact that it's not that way is bullshit and it makes not a lick of sense to me.
Akhand Mishra: in not just talking about movies, I'm talking about any job. And mainly was talking about women NOT being paid as much as men. I think it's dumb
I love Frances! sooo awesome to hear someone call hollywood out on her bullshit. she says what she wants, does what she wants and it's inspiring. Also, fantastic interviewer
ella bee true and it was before all the Weinstein bullshit
Maybe the coolest actor alive? She’s also a supreme talent!
i liked how she kept looking into the audience, that tells me that she loves connecting with others in general
she comes from theatre, everyone gets included.

.......and Three Billboards.. real talent, honest, unpretentious ... a lot of love in the heart .. LOVE ALL OF HER!
and "social media is the devil incarnate"

She never stops to take a breath...amazing.
Love Frances & LOVE the dress!!
hero + actor-crush
Why does the camera man keep moving the freaking camera!
love her opening spiel
I loved her in Olive Kitteridge
The interviewer seems uncomfortable around Frances. Look at the way she sits back in her chair away from Frances. Why?
because she is intimidated. Frances' personality is quite strong and I can see how someone might feel frightened or intimidated;
Frances is a strong woman. So she rules the Interview, and is that. And the interviewer not expected that. But Frances is Frances, she rules! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Love her though. She is TOO funny!
Si possono avere sottotitoli in italiano
THANK YOU*
She is alive
Lovvveed her in Olive Kitteridge...She is always sublime
you can see that she's a very professional actress.
No effin make-up - She is soooo HUGE ........
Naturally gorgeous.
After Hollywood started to put order numbers on movies , everything was about money.
Film industry needs female minded PRODUCERS! Are there ANY?

A snappy lope that's as hale as buttered cakes and rainy topsy-turvy terra firma

It's all economics, if you make more profit to the movie you will get paid more. Jennifer Lawrence was paid so much more than Chris patt.

You're still a useless, terrible person.
Money !
Work for China.
Adore her but I did not like her Emmy Speech
I love her speach. She is honest, and many peoples don't like honest people. Wherever, she's brilliant.
