If you have a seed-maker, you only need one of each season's forage. Wild horseradish for spring seeds, spice berry for summer, common mushroom for fall, winter root for winter. Then... you can sell or process the rest. Hint: save the crystal fruit for wine.
I'm so glad that this helps so many people. The person who taught me to play Stardew Valley never knew this (after playing for two years) and was stoked that he learned it. Those forageables are worth money!
if anyone is familiar with clay farming patterns on the beach, during winter it will give you an ENORMOUS amount of winter roots to put in seed-makers. and if for some reason you wish to obtain spring/summer/fall seeds, you can trade your winter seeds at the desert trader on saturdays
I will point out that, while starfruit wine is individually worth more than ancient fruit wine, you can get two ancient fruit wine in the time it takes to get one starfruit wine, so ancient fruit wine is by far the more profitable, especially when you factor in buying seeds and speed-gro.
If you're willing to do profession swapping to get 8 day grow cycle for starfruit, it is more profitable, even taking into account both the seeds and speed grow costs. Also definitely more of a hassle to have a big job every 8 days, but it is definitely easier to get massive amounts of starfruit vs ancient seeds
@@lauravanderplas7664 Well, now you're having the take into account purchasing both fertilizer and spending money to switch professions. You might speed up the growth of the starfruit but then lose the value due to the extra spending. You also then have to take into consideration the numbers of both. There absolutely would be a point where too few wouldn't be worth it. Finally, there's the time spent cutting into profits of other methods of earning gold. I was doing a very simple 1:1 comparison not including time or money spent on anything but seed. We're talking about a big list of things to calculate. I'm still going with Ancient Fruit Wine being more profitable overall.
@@Craxin01 Fertilizer is only a one time purchase, but even if you needed to buy it every time with an 8 day grow cycle it is still more profitable per harvest ^^ You are definitely right that people generally overvalue starfruit in comparison to ancient fruit, but I was mostly just saying that even in a late game scenario where you have all the ancient fruit seeds you could wish for, you can still consider starfruit if you don't mind the planting you need to do at the time you're harvesting anyways (profession swapping only needs to be done when selling, but that is also time that could go into making money elsewhere if you really are hard min-maxing beyond year 1
Additionally, when you choose Botanist, you would also have Gatherer. And it works on truffle, so you will pick up iridium truffle and have 20% to pick up 2 at once
Don't wait to plant your ancient fruit! It will take you forever to get started that way. Plant whatever seeds you get through the spring, save all the fruits and chuck those in seed makers. By the time you get the greenhouse unlocked, you'll already have a nice little pile of ancient seeds ready to plant in your new greenhouse with a good speed grow and getting a bunch more you can turn into seeds every week soon after. Since they grow on the farm in every season except winter you've got time to make your stockpile in advance of getting the greenhouse. If you only start once you get it you'll have maybe 2 or 3 seeds, if you've been really lucky, and then it will take up to 28 days before the amount of seeds pr day you can make goes up. If you plant an ancient fruit plant within the first or second week of spring you get 7-8 fruits to turn into seeds which could potentially be 21-24 new plants from just one seed, if you make sure to get 3 seeds every time, by about the time you get the greenhouse. Much more profitable than waiting. Your original plants will die once winter hits but by then you'll have at least 15-24 new seeds pr plant depending on when in spring you plant. This is without speed grow, too, so if you get that it could be higher. Because no, it won't change the 7 days between harvests but it can shave 3-7 days off the initial 28 days to mature.

one thing on the iridium truffle method is that it actually is better than the artisan profession with oil because you have a chance for getting double since truffles are a foragable this way you usually get a lot more
Dont forget to throw your coconuts into the preserves jar! You can use them to make wine as well but more likely than not you will have other fruits that will produce more valuable wine, so dont waste your keg time with coconuts!
The Artisan profession does not affect the price of oil. ;) I was so glad to see you include tea saplings & waiting for Fishing level 5! If you don't mind waiting for a crazy amount of cash, sell your extra (higher quality) produce as is but hold onto Artisan Goods until Farming level 10. So basically I make 1.5 mil a week by 1. I have 400 kegs that make me 400 a ancient fruit wine a week for like 800k and 2. Truffle oil with 36 pigs I make around 700 truffle oil a week which make me the other 800k
