- Rants have been a mainstay on on my twitch for years now and finally they are coming to my TH-cam. I plan for these types of videos to be sporadic but will be sprinkled in every now and again to fill out when I'm working on other challenges.

i know fishing by the lonely rock doesn't affect quality of the fish, i just like to give the lonely rock some company :(
don't believe the misinformation about the lonely rock not being useful. haboo just wants the rock all to himself
Haboo barely ever fishes there, just when he feels like trolling.
@@gb1reinwald exactly what he wants you to think
it actually does affect it in a weird way haboo is dumb
That rock isn't innocent, it stabbed a man behind a 76 station in San Bernadino
📣SAN BERNARDINO MENTIONED!!!
I love this kind of video, because I can't keep up with the streams and I really wanted to know these little tips that you only hear on streams!
Excited to more videos like this :)
The Lonely Rock can be useful as an indicator of where the deepest water is.
i mean yeah? but its WAY more useful to just know how many tiles from shore it takes, since it's the same everywhere
finally someone who straight out tells me what keys to press to bend the fishing line. Thank you!
I’m glad someone finally made a video like this, I looked for fishing tips when I first started but it was all “get iridium rod and bobbers and buff food” a few extra tips I’ve learned in my time: 1. The rebound: when a fish dives and you try to follow it, but it shoots back up your natural reaction will be to press down the lmb to start moving back up; fight the urge. Your only hope at this point is slamming into the bottom to rebound back up instantly. Let the bar hit the bottom and start to rebound then press the lmb to keep going up. Works vice-versa
2. Controlled sink: For fish that have a quick downward movement, you might find yourself letting go of the lmb to quickly fall with it, but wait! The catfish has stopped on a dime but my rod isn’t! You overshoot and miss the juicy 450g. Instead of letting go of the lmb and letting god take the reel, when you sink just tap the lmb a few times on the way down. This limits the “momentum” you pick up allowing you to stop faster when the fish stops.
The video touches on this a bit, but the eureka moment I had that took my stardew valley fishing from good to great if left clicking counteracts the gravitational force constantly acting on the green bar, then the left click itself must be equivalent to applying a force on said bar. Since F = ma, left clicking directly affects the bar's acceleration, *not* its velocity (aka speed), going against the intuition of most players and hence creating the minigame's difficulty. Once you get used to thinking about your inputs in terms of acceleration, getting a sense of the bar's movement becomes much more natural. Here are some tricks and trips I figured out so you don't have to:
•Tapping is your friend! By applying bursts of force and letting gravity do its thing in between, you essentially cancel out any net acceleration, resulting in the bar move at a constant speed. It goes without saying this makes the bar much easier to control.
•Tapping is also your friend when letting the bar fall. Gravity is also a force, so letting the bar fall uninterrupted increases its falling speed. The video was half correct about left clicking at the right moment to stop the bar from bouncing. In truth, there's no one specific spot where this trick must be performed, nor are you limited to a single click-as long as you get the bar's acceleration close enough to zero by the time it hits the bottom, you will successfully prevent the collision from generating a counterforce, which means you also prevent any bouncing. (Personally, I prefer to do two or three longer left clicks as the bar is falling to decelerate it and stop it from bouncing.)
•Even when you're not trying to keep the bar on a stationary fish, it's still good to keep in mind that the rapid clicking to keep the bar in place is generating net zero acceleration. This is a useful technique to keep in your back pocket because it's guaranteed way to regain control of the bar that's always available to you.
That's everything I can think of right now. I hope at least one person finds this useful.
Yes this comment is so helpful
HABOO VIDEO JUST DROPPED
It feels so weird that so many people hate this minigame. There are only a few really hard fish outside of legendary fish. You usually don't even need a new rod until you're done with the CC and going for perfection
I mean I always recommend the fiberglass rod so you can use bait, but yeah the 'rid rod is only needed for stuff like legendary fish, octopuses, and the magnet.

Scandalous talk about the Lonely Rock, it has provided me many hours of company and emotional support
i’m very excited for haboo brain dumps, i feel like he has so much brain knowledge that i (someone without brain knowledge) would love to absorb. i leave every haboo stream feeling smarter than before. i look forward to videos like this 🤗
Thank you! Hope there will be more guides and whole speedruns on youtube from you
i always just wait until the 3rd to fish for the first time. that way i get a free catfish. you can cancel until it's your first fish
But… that costs you about a dozen catfishes? Yeah, you’re guaranteed your first, but will you get another that day? I’m not good enough to catch one on level 0 or 1 lol - I need to be at least level 2 to get a catfish 🙃🙈
So I fish on the 2nd until 9, get the training rod, fish with the training rod until level 2, then buy the fiberglass rod (usually around 4:30) and fish until evening.
I’m usually either level 3 or 4 when the rain starts, which is enough to catch the catfish more often than not - you can get 10-15 on that 3rd day of Spring and be level 5 by the 4th (so you sell them for more) 🥰👍
@@Cthulhus_Mum i'm not good enough until i have an iridium rod lol
@@wizardlyfrog Ahhh, fair enough :-) I know not everyone enjoys the fishing minigame enough to get good at it - and why on earth would you spend your time in a videogame practicing a skill you don't enjoy? I play some games on super easy mode because it's more fun (and with that said, I know there are fishing mods that reduce the difficulty level for those who find the frustration robs their enjoyment completely - and I'm glad they exist! I am definitely never judging someone for playing the game the way they find most fun 🥰)
omg a rant from the expert himself!!!!
Finally a stardew valley fishing video with tips on HOW TO IMPROVE AT THE MINIGAME I HAVE BEEN WAITING YEARS TY
I love this kind of video!!! I'd love to see more in the future
The thIng that helped me the most with the fishing game was using a key binding for clicking instead of the mouse. I played on laptop with a wireless mouse for a long time so I imagine that contributed a lot to my troubles, but even with my new pc I still prefer the keyboard for fishing.
this is really useful advice, thank you haboo 🙏
I love watching these kind of videos and the moment i launch my game, i forgot everything lol
yes just talk facts and we will watch
huh, I knew all this... does that mean I play stardew too much?
No such thing as too much stardew
I always just use the training rod to get to lv2(which can be done in 1 day bc how easy it is to get perfect catch), and then start using normal rod
this is a surprisingly calm rant
I really want a mod where fishing at the lonely rock is actually better
Yesss love some Haboo content. Let’s gooo 🔥🐟🎣
Aw, "maybe do just fish there to give it some love" ☺ oké, now I am going to fish near the lonely rock more, to give it some love ❤
omg thank you pufferdle is so fun :D
POV: u see haboo posted a video and you expect him to do something insane but its a guide you dont need
Good rant! Very nicely explained, thanks for the good content!✨
I might be terrible at life, but at least I kick ass at the stardew valley fishing mini game.
very good info dump! i'm excited for more videos like this :D
I definitely just haven't played enough to really have the feel for the different fish and timing my responses well enough. I haven't even tried to hook the legendary fish outside of the legend (which I felt overprepared for with my iridium rod and bobber and sea foam..... I walked out, caught it first try and was like well now what) so of course the octopus and and catfish give me a hard time on new saves, I've only caught like 10 maximum
Rant video, FINALLY
I suck at fishing and have caught a iridium quality fish at lvl 1 without perfect catch by the lonely rock and no where else even as my very first catch that is impossible anywhere else in the game I have nearly 8000 hours on my pc and almost 3000 on my switch I'd know if it wasn't given I have specifically sought out to test it :P (yes I have no life and yes I'm pretty sure I have more hours then all the stardew content creators individually (except MAYBE blade(?) ) it's my favorite game and I play it almost non stop multitasking it on my switch when to busy for pc :P)
thanks for the rant now off to practice
Appreciate this!
I missed a few things:
- the small remark that the fishing level can be improved by buff food and one fishing pole enchantment
- the info that luck does not affect the movement pattern
- info about treasure chests when fishing, probability strategies and content
Wooo, finally some new haboo video :)
I have the feeling that the lonely rock gives you more sea weed than the rest of the beach, is just me or...?
Hey, you could also press c :)
Fishing Facts:
1) It's Hard.
I don't know many fishing facts. 😅
Yay thank you haboo
I very quickly modded the mini game out because of how much I hated it. The issue I have is that it's a non-binary system using a binary input. I don't want to have to mash my left mouse button 100 times for every fish i try to catch, it feels like i'm fighting the controls rather than the fish. If it used a non-binary input system, like the triggers on a controller, to control the position of the fishing bar, so that i can basically "hold the button halfway in" in order to have my fishing bar float in the middle of the area, i might have enjoyed the system.
Three days in a row and I’ve only nabbed one fish because I can’t get the hang of hooking it. 😔 I know it’s a money maker too. My best experience fishing was in New World. They were very realistic. Wish they would change how to reel it in to make the game more fun.
fish
I'm surprised this is missing left, right vs vertical b4 lvl 10
Good video thank you.
can you update SDV roguelike?
for some reason there is no fish in my fish bar, anyone else have this issue?
haboo, try to speedrun all stardew steam achviments, i think it will be easier than get the 100%
10:05 I thought the rock wasn’t useful
Does fishing for trash help raise my fishing level?
HABSSSS
Fish :)
NEW VIDEO YaYYY
What about mobile:(
I hate fishing so much that I fell asleep listening about it and I didn't hear half of the tips...
I'm hopeless, I'm just gonna cheat, thank you very much.
How do you cheat?

not as good as rant% but good summary none the less ;)
babe wake up a new TheHaboo video is live
Play hollow knight ❤
Cork Bobber is better for me than Trap
Cool
Holy hell man, if you stumble while recording voice-over, just re-record it cause alot of this is all over the place
earlyy LY HABOOO
There's also a mod that entirely eliminates the game. Playing how you want is also ok. I hate the fishing mini game. I still occasionally play without the mod but mostly I use it because I'd rather spend my time engaging with other parts of the game.
Just get a auto fish mod
I heard that there was a bug early in the game's release that actually made fishing by the lonely rock a better chance for higher quality fish, maybe where the myth came from!
A NEW VIDEO, POGGERS
110% use the training rod when you’re just starting out. It makes it so much easier to fish and *get used to* the fishing mini game, and it builds the experience you’ll need later on.
