Hi Justin, I really enjoyed the roundtable podcast. It's wonderful to get the views of bonafide Rolling Stones experts. As you had mentioned, it's hard to rank songs because they are all so good on "Hackney Diamonds". After listening to the new album many times since its release, I have trouble finding fault with any of the tracks. The so-called "polish" in the overall sound does not matter to me in the least. With the songs being as strong as they are, I don't even notice this. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better album. The Stones delivered on all fronts. Justin, I hope you are able to get these guys back together with you at some point. I would love to hear their views on other Stones' topics, like, for instance their views on the re-issues with archival bonus material that we've gotten since 2010. I personally think they are all great, including the tracks with re-recorded vocals and other parts. It's wonderful that these songs are now part of the official catalog. Do you think the Stones will give us more vault releases, and, if so, which album would be next? The 2021 boot "Fully Finished Studio Outtakes" gave us a peek at some great material still out there. I'd love to hear what your panel thought of this bootleg and which songs are worthy of an official release, and what the origin of this bootleg was as it includes ABKCO and post-ABKCO (Decca) material. Who could have had access to this? Speaking of ABCKO, do you think the legal issues will ever be resolved so that we could get some 1960's outtakes. It is such a shame the Stones do not control this material, and we, the fans, are paying the ultimate penalty by being deprived of tracks that should see the light of day. Anyway, it would be interesting to hear what the panel would have to say about this. Honestly, Justin, it would be interesting to hear about any Stones topic the panel would want to comment on. It is a treat to listen to people who dearly love the Stones give us their views on any Stones-related subject. Please keep up the great work, Justin. Your channel is a paradise for lovers of the Rolling Stones. Thank you.
Thanks so much Michael for this great post. It was so great to talk to these guys we are definitely hoping to do it again at some point. Great suggestions there for us to talk about in the future. I assume there will be more in the Vault/Live releases. I'm sure next year we might see something else come out. This year was quite since they saved all their marketing energy for the album. As for ABCKO, I suspect things will remain as they are for the foreseeable future, sadly. Nothing implies it could change any time soon. But we've seen weirder things! Thanks again for watching and hope you enjoy the rest of the content!
Love the. Album..my only wish..the tuning of those snare should have been with the charlie way with that unique ring. JORDAN, the new. Engine , from now on. Love it.
For the Stones geeks like us here :)... Hold on to Your Hat for the record is 190 BPM. So it comes in 2nd after Rip This Joint (196), but ahead of Flip the Switch (163) and Bite My Head Off (143). I'm sure other Stones rockers must be somewhere in this conversation too (Lies clocks in at 162, one short of Flip the Switch) . I think Bite My Head Off gives the impression of speed because of the intensity of the performance more than it actually has... Carol (1st album) is 177, Dirty Work 175. Take that Keith! ;)
Great point about melody… I like all the later albums but none have them have gripped me like HD… I’m trying to figure out why I love it and now melody may really be a main reason even over energy, vitality etc
I totally agree with you about not easy to distinguish who played what. I thought I was the only person that could not tell. This album has so many good songs and my favorite hanged everyday. I did not like Angry when it came out on video. I thought it was cheesy, like the girl on White Snake. It reminded me of an old sugar daddy telling his young interest that he wanted to dump her so don’t get angry. But after listening to it without seeing that video, it actually was very good. Today my favorite is mess it up.
I’m glad that someone else thought the line in Sweet Sounds of Heaven about “I’m not goin to hell in some dusty motel” is a reference to Gram Parsons. Especially the video showing a cactus . Gram died in room 8 of the Joshua Tree I think. So I think Keith had a lot to do with the writing of this song as well as others. Ronnie is great on this album.

@@poliziagrammaticale9430 Sure he can still sing, but can he sing well? I've seen those live performances and they're not pretty. Less dancing and more singing.
@@Camille-z5n Mostly Keith and Ronnie, actually. More than on other latter-day albums. Mick is filling in more, rather than doing the main riffs etc. which he has done since Steel Wheels.
Not digging the new album much. They owe us nothing, of course, but since Tattoo You, most of their albums have been rather mediocre. Their best work was with Mick Taylor Brian Jones and ofr course Charlie Watts. Those brilliant albums in the 60s and early 70s was when they were at their prime Multi-millionaires in their late 70s and 80s dont have that same mojo. Their aint no 19th Nervous Breakdown on this record. Sorry.

@@poliziagrammaticale9430 Sure he can still sing, but can he sing well? I've seen those live performances and they're not pretty. So many songs on Hackney Diamonds are tuned to sound pop; it's probably too late now, but would've wished that Jagger had settled into being an elder statesman and scaled things back a bit. Less dancing and more singing.
Vocoder, not autotune. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocoder
Only thing it is solid but Keith is not up front more Mick strumming Angry
?
So the guitars are both Mick, Keith, and Ronnie right? Not just Mick.
@@Camille-z5n Mostly Keith and Ronnie, actually. More than on other latter-day albums. Mick is filling in more, rather than doing the main riffs etc. which he has done since Steel Wheels.
I can't understand a voddamn bit of what the guy w,/ the accent is saying
Accent is Irish !
Ronnie played some great slide and lead guitar solos to.
Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder on Sweet Sounds good
Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman
Elton John did he play piano
Paul McCartney did great
Didn't need Mick on guitar too much
What happened to Chuck Leavell?
Don't like the lp at all
he album is garbage and i am one of those who wants my money back ,..
That's a shame
Not digging the new album much. They owe us nothing, of course, but since Tattoo You, most of their albums have been rather mediocre. Their best work was with Mick Taylor Brian Jones and ofr course Charlie Watts. Those brilliant albums in the 60s and early 70s was when they were at their prime Multi-millionaires in their late 70s and 80s dont have that same mojo. Their aint no 19th Nervous Breakdown on this record. Sorry.
Let me guess...you also have a flip phone 😂☎️
I love the stones been a fan since 1963 the worst album they ever made was dirty work. I'm sorry but this is the worse then dirty work. Time to retire boys you no longer have it .
😐
I think the masses disagree with you 😂😂😂😂
