Long story short, any Eagles song gets blocked worldwide and is at risk of receiving a copyright strike, so I'm playing it as safe as possible by not having the audio at all.
Long story long, copyright battle with my Hotel California video has successfully scared me into submission. When I was originally uploading my World Tour videos, Hotel California got blocked worldwide, so I submitted a copyright dispute. When you submit a copyright dispute, the video in question has no viewing restrictions for the duration of the dispute, which is 30 days. This means that a video that was blocked worldwide is no longer blocked and can be watched by everyone. These disputes typically get drawn out nearly the entire 30 days before the copyright holder disagrees with my claim and the video stays blocked. To my surprise, however, the Hotel California dispute only lasted maybe a week or so before the copyright holder AGREED with my claim and removed viewing restrictions.
I thought I was in the clear, there's no more copyright claim on my video and I was actually able to monetize it. Cool! The video started getting a lot of traction, and over a year or so accumulated nearly a 250,000 views. That all came to an end when I received a copyright strike on that video from Universal Music Publishing Group. A video getting blocked worldwide holds no real consequence other than the video being unwatchable. A copyright strike, however, has very serious ramifications. The first one isn't too bad, but when you receive your second one you start to lose access to certain features on TH-cam. If you get 3 strikes, your whole channel gets deleted. Strikes expire after 90 days, so I'm fine now, but it's pretty scary knowing that my channel could get deleted at a moment's notice because the vast majority of my content is using copyrighted music.
So to review: I disputed the claim on an Eagles song, the copyright holder agreed with my claim, then later received a copyright strike because that was the last option available to them to ensure that nobody could hear Hotel California unless they were getting paid for it. I understand that, of course artists should be compensated for their work. I think the TH-cam copyright system is very fair in that if copyrighted material is detected, the copyright holder receives some or all the revenue generated from that video. Sometimes it can be a bit overreaching, but that's a different discussion. But the idiocy of Don Henley is astounding.
If a copyright holder chooses to block a video for using a song, they receive zero revenue from that video and no people are listening to that song. If the copyright holder allows that song to be used in videos, they receive revenue from the video AND they get exposed to a new audience who may go out and listen to them on Spotify, or buy their album, merch, tour tickets, etc. I never would have heard this song if it weren't for Guitar Hero, and I think this song is pretty good.

The funny thing here is that "Hotel California" was actually on the official TH-cam Channel of the eagles & it had 114 million views before it got blocked (for some dumb reason). There's a re-uploaded(?) version with around 70 million views as of making this comment. I honestly don't get why the record labels do that. It's so stupid & pointless.

I never bought this pack, but I don’t get something - a whole pack of songs by The Eagles was made playable in all the full band games, but how come Hotel California never made the World Tour import?

So Eagles pack, playable in every single GH game that supports DLC, exclusivity deal with Activison, they got it right? Of course not, of f-ing course not. Same thing with ACDC on Rock Band, infact worse since they couldn't sell the DLC except on a track pack. The whole World Tour import is a pretty ugly mess of whatever gone into it. There are artists that appeared but sudenly cant export, they exported later, their bloody song reappeared on a later title [Bullet for my Valentine and Gorilaz come to mind] Its like the incredible bullshit Activison goes to, to first licence a song, and then get screwed over, but then not get screwed over. It seems everyone will go for a game, if its on a main setlist, and only stick to that if possible, but for DLC sometimes nothing goes there, but theyll allow it to go, like id love to see the agreements Activision had with some of the artists that didn't want the export. Im mostly bogged about it because GH5 as i said, got artists like Billy Idol that didn't export first time, exported on that title. Especelly since Rock Band 2 the 11 shared songs all exproted on that game. Did Activision not have a good deal? They got many popular artists on WT its insane so no, some bias? Nirvana and No Doupt always exported, so again no. Its just very weird.
Now don't get me started on Trapped Under Ice not being exportable, or Hot for Teacher for that matter.
