I just made a reversible icecream cozy with a cute pocket holding a wet wipe & a narrow pocket for the spoon. It even works reversible. I love it...here comes Ben & Jerry!
I have several of your templates. Most recently I purchased the ice cream one. I thought I would share my input. First of all I had some quilters dream cotton batting that I wanted to use. It's 100% cotton and is the crib size. It's thinner than wrap n zap but still does the job and is much easier to work with. I use your bowl cozy templates all the time and use warm and natural 100% cotton (no scrim) crib batting for those. Dream cotton is a bit pricey so I tend to go with warm and natural. Again it's a bit thinner than some of the others. I made the mistake once of buying the queen size as it was a little more economic but it was much heavier so I stick with the crib size. Using the thinner batting, I had no problem with the edges or with the corners. The one thing that I do is, I snip into the seams at the bottom of the "V" where the seams meet. I'm careful not to snip the seam line sewing the two sides together. That allows that inside corner to spread a bit and helps to make the turning and smoothing much easier and then the top stitching is a breeze. (Your friend in Lake Placid)
Great advice - all if it! Especially about the thinner batting~ All these things add up to make creating faster, easier, better! Thank you for sharing!
I have one of your ice cream templates and made my first cozy. This tutorial was so helpful that I bookmarked it to watch again. I took your advise and put the extra effort into trimming down the batting bulk. It made a big difference in the ease of top stitching and how it turned out. I'll be doing the same now for my bowl cozies.
Thank you so very much for being such a wonderful teacher! You take the time to show every detail which is not only helpful but encouraging enough for me to say, I can do that as well! Great work!
Aw, I am jealous! Thanks for watching. I have been asked if I would do downloadable templates for areas of the world where shipping is too expensive. You'll have to let me know if that's something that would interest you~
Thought of something else instead of all that hand work at the end could I put a pretty binding to hold the two parts together with decorative stitching. Thank you again. I may even embroidery some of them to go with each persons decor. I believe they will like these as gifts

Hi Linda! Could this template fit a square tissue box? If not, could you make a larger template to fit tissue boxes? I remember seeing you talk about one during a Martelli video but wasn't sure if you had something similar that would work??
Great question & great idea, Jessica - the Ice Cream Cozy is too small to hold a box of tissues. But I am working on making a larger size template to hold the larger ramen noodle bowls. I'm thinking that one might work well for a box of tissues. I'll be sure to test out a box of tissues with fingers crossed that it will work for both! When I saw your post, I thought you were referring to my Storage Pod Templates & the medium size works perfectly for a box of tissues! I've added pics of it to my website on the medium Storage Pod page. It can be hung or used sitting on a table as is. Or fold the curved part back for easier access to the tissues. Or use the template to make it a box without the curve as I show in the video link here at just past 1 hour 6 minutes: th-cam.com/video/6ZGcGofH7VU/w-d-xo.html For sharing your idea, I created a Discount Code just for you. It's a one time use & will give you 25% off 1 order. The code is "Jessica" and can only be used by you. Thanks again & have fun shopping!
Hi Virginia - I used the 45mm cutter for this. I used the 45mm on most of the projects I do as it's so versatile! BTW - your package is on the way to the post office; thanks for your order!
Sorry, I don't. I sell No Slip Templates that 'grab' your fabric making cutting quick & accurate. I do sell Make-n-Take Ice Cream Cozy Kits where I've cut the fabric for you so everything is ready to go. The Kits are cheaper than the template & would give you a chance to try making them. You could use the fabrics to create your own pattern. You could find them both here: winner-designs.myshopify.com/search?x=0&y=0&q=ice+cream+cozy. Thanks!
I have the bowl cozy set that has 3 different mesurements on all 4 sides do I cut the cozy with the 4 differint messurements or draw out the pattern to one size , I bought the templets a few years ago and just getting around to using them thanks Dee
Hi Dee - I think you are referring to my Round Off Template Set that comes as a set of 3. Those have different measurements on each side. The Microwave Bowl Cozies are consistent on each side so they work perfectly for creating quick and consistent cozies. You could use the Round Offs to create cozies but you would need to fold the fabric in quarters. That would work for the cotton fabric but not the batting. If you decide to purchase anything from me remember to use my "Covid 19" Discount Code to get 19% off your order! Thanks!
Thanks for your order; Virginia! I see you got my reply to your message. Your package is on the way to the Post Office now! For anyone else, my current my Discount Code is New. It'll give a 20% discount.
Sure! I originally wanted this cozy to have rounded edges but they are harder to sew consistently since they are so small. But give it a try & you'll see it can be done!
@ lindavideos, I enjoy the tutorials. This is so fun. I was wondering IF you could make a bowl cozy that has 6 scalloped edge (like a flower) bowl cozy! I made so many 10 inch bowl cozies over the years. I am yearning for a different shape.
Thanks, Faith! Funny.... I have been thinking of doing a template with this shape. My biggest concern is that the curves would make it harder to sew, turn, topstitch & still look nice. I'll be playing with the idea. If it comes to be, you'll see it here & on my Winner Designs for Sewing & Quilting Facebook!
Do you mean chalk for the markings? Shouldn't be an issue but it might be hard to see or show up on the batting. You'll be stitching on the marks and much of it will be brushed away as you go. Let me know if I understood your question!

Sounds like a great solution - especially the personalization.
A pair of alligator clamps or forceps can help with pulling out fabric and turning.
Great suggestion.... thx!
Thank you love ice cream cozies great tutorials
Really cute, love the tips for smoothing and poking and straightening, thanks
I just ordered now I need this templet
Oh my goodness. I so need these. 😍. What a wonderful template and item.
I just received my template today and wow! These are really nice! I love the non-skid side. Awesome! Going to make my first cozy in the morning! ❤️

Also what size was the Martelli Rotary Cutter? Are they 28mm, 45mm & 60mm? Hopefully you will get back to be soon!!! Thank you!!!

Just found your videos, and love them !!! I will get the ice cream template soon. Where did you get the rotary cutters ?
You can get them at www.mattellinotions.com. They make both aright handed and a left handed cutter in 28mm, 45mm & 60mm
Another fun template Linda. ❤️
Do you have a downloadable pattern for this?

Yes, we all have problems turning(birthing) things.
Can the pointy parts be cut off or rounded? So the cozy is even all the way around?
Sure! I originally wanted this cozy to have rounded edges but they are harder to sew consistently since they are so small. But give it a try & you'll see it can be done!

So do you use two pieces of batting for both sides?
Just one piece on each side. I think if you used 2 it would be too hard to get a nice finished edge.
do you know the measurements for a Quart of ice cream?😊
How do I get the templet
Measurements please
What is the template made out of?
It's high density polyester plastic
chalk- would that b a problem
