    I have the 2013 Honda Accord Lx, and it does its job. I have it paid off this month, so now I get to fully reap the benefits of the purchase. It is a commuter car, very reliable and with good response for a four cylinder. The Bluetooth is faulty, and I get complaints from people about not hearing me clearly when I am driving. it's too bad that every new generation makes substantial improvements on the previous. You wonder why some of these changes weren't originally designed in the original car.

      +TheMenghi1 It seems like for Honda, sound deadening was not a priority, despite the fact that the competition was always quieter.

    I think we'd call this 2016 more than a refresh. There's no doubt it's hit a new chord with Honda buyers. Great video - thanks!

    I purchased the '16 Accord V6 w/o sensing in black/black. It's a very comfortable ride. It's almost like you're floating. The shocks are very, very good, and the seats are comfortable. You can hardly feel the bumps in the road. It's also extremely roomy. You've got acres of room. I may keep this car for at least ten years (maybe more), especially if all the Accord V6 go away or switch to CVT. Oh, if you have MetroPCS, Android Auto probably won't work for you. You've gotta have a compatible phone with a decent carrier, like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.

    More lackluster sales for Acura, why spend the xtra bucks for an Acura, when you can get just as good for less moulah? BTW Steve is the Honda Accord of car reviewers, always good and reliable and never lets you down!

      +pedrof830 From what I hear, Honda is in the process of changing brand identities. They in theory will make Acura their hybrid brand and bring the AWD to Honda. Who knows though.

    • @jvrdlc
      @jvrdlc 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Trevor Thayer I wish that becomes reality.. an AWD Accord would be awesome and compete with the Legacy and Fusion AWD models

    • @skirmich
      @skirmich 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Trevor Thayer They want Acura to upscale now to the fully Luxury level High End only.. Before it was like yeah Acura that thing you buy because you cant afford a Merc/BMW now they want to be Acura = That thing that has everything else and more from a Merc/BMW.. While Honda is upscaling to the more refined mid-high class region.
      Saying "why spend the xtra bucks for an Acura" is a very silly thing to say and it clearly shows pedro doesn`t own one. The experience from just driving one and another is like freaking night and day now... Before with the Accord and TL wasn`t that blurred but right now you totally know the second you step into an Acura that it isn`t a pimped out Honda. Just look at the exceptional db ratings from the RLX! it beats the shit out of any BMW and Merc in existence in ride comfort and quietness.... Try that with the Accord...

    • @banstaman
      @banstaman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +skirmich True, though it isn't making any sense or Acura NEEDS to differentiate quickly. The MDX is nice, but when the Pilot Touring/Elite comes into the picture as does the Accord Touring, Honda flounders in total. Why would someone pay the extra thousands for an Acura MDX which is not much different? And who would be willing to pay $50,000 for a Pilot? Same with the Accord Touring and the TLX; why pay for a $35,000 for an Accord or a couple thousand more for a TLX which isn't that much different? While Acura is improving, it unfortunately happens that Honda makes a self-competing product which in the end doesn't make sense and makes customers shy away. Take the refreshed ILX; WORLDS better than the previous one, but then the new Civic came out. Honda is going to continue have a tough time [especially with Acura] if they aren't going to improve the Acura brand and/or cut off the high end mainstream models.

    • @skirmich
      @skirmich 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      banstaman Is the little stuff that makes the difference if you are only comparing interiors or style well there isn't much to say there, Honda/Acura are almost in the same level of sophistication and build quality today (Not so much before).
      But then You say MDX vs Pilot? but why would you compare both? The MDX is a Performance Crossover where the Pilot is an everyday commuter... SH-AWD makes the whole difference in that scenario, There is no comparison in performance the MDX will outdrive the Pilot on every single corner and that is mainly because of Brand Differences as far as I know the new SH-AWD is a modified VTM-4 which the Pilot has (Minus the overdrive from SH-AWD).. If Honda wanted to they would have SH-AWD by now in the Pilot, Until then the MDX trumps the Pilot in the Performance category... And yes there are some people that care about that aspect in their Crossover in fact right now the New Pilot cant keep up with the 2nd Generation MDX (2007-2013) let alone trying to beat a 3rd Gen with the extra overdrive (2.7% vs 1.7%) in SH-AWD
      Same scenario with the TLX... But in that case the TLX will out maneuver the Accord any day of the year, Different Suspension settings and Turn Radius make it a completely different animal when driving vigorously.
      I think its safe to say there is no comparison when you compare Acura vs Honda in the Performance Section. Honda needed 2 whole generations of Accords to keep up with the 3G TL-S in 0 to 60, But when you present a Corner it all goes to hell for the Accord.

    At the 3:09 mark you mentioned tire pressure monitoring system as part of Honda Sensing system?
    I know that generation of Accord ditched the TPMS sensors (HALLELUJAH!!!!!) in the wheels for the indirect system which uses the existing ABS sensors to monitor tire pressure.
    But for the 2016 refresh, direct TPMS (sensor in the wheels) is back if you get Honda Sensing or Honda went back to direct TPMS for all 2016 models?

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Standard across the board

    • @mx5hong
      @mx5hong 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes
      So the direct, sensor type is standard across the board for the Accord now? Wonder what made Honda switch from indirect to direct. I hate those TPMS sensors with a passion. The indirect sensor which uses the existing ABS sensors works just fine. And you don't have to spend almost $200 for a set of sensors when the battery goes out.

      Thank you for clearing that up. I was confused when you mentioned TPMS b/c they were made mandatory starting with the 2008 model year. So when you mentioned it, I thought Honda switched to a sensor TPMS for the 2016 refresh.
      Man, HATE doesn't even begin to describe my hatred for those things. I understand some VW and Audi are switching to the indirect system. I hope more manufacturers and models follow.

    Great car, as always, but the market has turned on the mighty Accord.
    It has lost over 10% of its sales this year, falling behind the Corolla and Civic in sedan sales in the US. Will this update get back that lost share, or just stop the bleeding?

    • @stockjonebills
      @stockjonebills 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +E. S. The Camry is Toyota's equivalent to the Accord not the Corolla. Corolla and Civic are smaller less expensive models so I'm not surised they have more sales. You do get a lot of bang for the buck with an accord.

    • @EvanderSmart
      @EvanderSmart 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Fleet is a very small amount of Corolla, Civic and Camry sales. That doesn't explain Accord losing 10% in sales this year

    • @EvanderSmart
      @EvanderSmart 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Slow your ignorance.
      1. To say Honda doesn't sell to fleets at all if ignorant, or just flat-out wrong. They don't have an official fleet department, but they definitely sell to businesses, if not taxi fleets. TTAC has looked into this and they sell 3-5% fleet, where Toyota overall sell about 10%, Camry and Corolla around 15%.
      2. As I said, what does this have to do with Honda selling 10% less cars this year? You are being the fucking loser troll, or are just too stupid to understand what I wrote. Those sales didn't go to Toyota's Camry, which is down slightly this year. Toyota sells 10% fleet every year like a machine, not more, not less, so it is not going there.....

    • @oldtwinsna8347
      @oldtwinsna8347 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Cameron Clarke The Accord's sound system is the weakest in the class. Toyota's JBL premium system blow it so far out of the water it can't even be compared in the same conversation. Really wish they would make improvements on this, but I fear they worry about stepping on Acura's toes. A shame really, as this is the weakest part of the Accord lineup and when you're dropping 30k you want something decent. It's also hard to upgrade the Accord's system because of its use of active noise cancelling; the system goes nuts when you try to change a speaker or add an amp.
