After all, you can simpler: these pictures in Photoshop, select the object, remove the background, fill with the color you want, then the same with the ball. Thank you for your comment! The goal is not to be fast. But you are right, it might be easier and faster, but it won't be smoother. Basically, you will loop static images. But you need to animate the shape for smoother transition and more control over your work.
