- There are a lot of Hearthstone cards. As a result, making new ones every expansion can be challenging without some becoming super odd, and in this case, too specific to be strong enough to see competitive play. Here are 7 Overly Specific Hearthstone cards!

Me when I'm an oddly specific card competition and my opponent is a Yugioh card
💀
Absolutely amazing!
As someone who played Yu-Gi-Oh!, I approve of this joke
😂😂
Yeah, thats like every other card
Linear equation cannon is my favourite of those
Small world my beloved
EMP Operative definitely should've been "Silence and Destroy a Mech". Some mechs had deathrattles, so adding the silence effect would make the EMP Operative be a catch-all remove-a-mech solution, but even then, it would've have been very good.
Agrees. I always thought the same
Why isn't the number 1 Rend Blackhand?
Great example
because he was actually playable - holding a dragon in your hand is not a condition, and legendaries are always common on the board, especially in some metas.
@@PeterZaitcevAnd 8/4 is such a great statline for just 7 mana!
@@PeterZaitcev nah he never was playable even during blackrock mountain
I was talking about this days ago with a friend we concluded that Rend is probably the most specific and one the worst cards in the game because of that.
Could also add Star Aligner to this list. Atleast this card is obviously a meme and its name speaks for itself
Star Aligner stronger than every card I included! Its a great way when talking about how specific it is 📝
It was tier one deck for some time
@@SentenceToDESU Star Aligner made Aviana be nerfed
Star aligner is the best meme because it was actually decent to good at different times
star aligned was good, these never were
I've been playing hearthstone for 11 years and I never knew the silence a demon minion existed lol. Literally never seen or opened it
Inspire was from a time when hero powers were supposed to be a strong thing you did every couple turns. And yet half the inspire cards weren't good. It's like how joust could have been good but a lot of the pieces were built opposite how you wanted.
I'm glad to see how often MarkMckz is referenced in your videos for actual use cases. Lol
He out here using all the garbage cards
@@nickjoseph77 hero powers were never good plays, ever. maybe the warlock one but that's it
Dormant makes sense for Demon Hunters because their whole flavor is trapping the souls of demons to use them.
Yea I suppose!
and the demon hunters themselves start in prison
TEN THOUSAND YEARS!
Ice cream peddler always sticks out to me
Ooh good shout
That one actually saw play in some builds of Wild Shudderwock Shaman
@@mikef5951 yep he was meta in freeeze shudder for infinite armor gain and taking the opponent hostage
15:37 equip a wandom weapon
🤔
Currently theres a bomb deck running Crimson Expanse and Carnivorous Cubicle to summon many more copies of testing dummies and safety experts thats pretty fun to play.
Sounds fun
My current deck😊
Why EMP Operative over Hemet Nesingwary?
Also shocked Ice Cream Vendor isn't even on the list. That card's like the king of overly specific trigger conditions.
Forget Hemet, Rend Blackhand is the king of obscure removal minions. Only kills legendaries, bad stats for cost, AND requires a dragon in hand to even kill said legendary.
ice cream peddler was used in shudder shaman in wild for a while. You could gain an obscene amount of armor and just deny your opponent any form of winning
Everyone knows Hemet because it’s memed all the time
A few other cards:
Rend Blackhand - battlecry: if you're holding a dragon, destroy a legendary minion
Defias Cleaner - battlecry: silence a minion with deathrattle
Grimtotem Bounty Hunter - battlecry: destroy an enemy legendary minion
Lil' Exorcist - battlecry: gain +1/+1 for each enemy deathrattle minion
Grimtotem Buzzkill - battlecry: discard a weapon to draw 3 cards
Ice Cream Peddler - battlecry: if you control a frozen minion, gain 8 armor
Bayfin Bodybuilder - after a minion is summoned for your opponent on your turn, silence and destroy it
Fight Promoter - battlecry: if you control a minion with 6 or more health, draw 2 cards
Selfless Sidekick - battlecry: equip a random weapon from your deck
Wicked Skeleton - battlecry: gain +1/+1 for each minion that died this turn
I don't think any of these cards saw play when they were in standard, but I could be wrong
If you make this a series i will watch every single video pinky promise. I can never get enough of shitting on bad cards in card games.
I'd watch a 1 hour video about how bad Silverback is compared to other options
Noted 😂
While Furnace elemental is weird, Warrior got Forge of Souls in the same set I believe, and and Charge also existed in wild. While not consistent I remembet it being a funny otk
One I was surprised not to see on here is Dragonslayer, a neutral 3 mana 4/3 common from K&C with Battlecry: Deal 6 damage to a Dragon and the flavor text "A pair of stout dwarves nearly averted the Cataclysm."
If you do this again, a good one is Roosting Gargoyle. That's neutral 2 mana 2/3 from Castle Nathria that gives a Beast +2 attack. That's one of the most "Huh?" cards in recent memory. It's not even a Beast itself. Why was that made?
One very fun overly specific card is Grave Shambler. It can be a +1 Attack Yeti if you destroy a weapon and then it threatens to get +1/+1 if it lives like 2 turns. Compared to like Hench Clan Thug, this card is atrocious. Love me some of those KoFT weapon synergy cards.
I played lifesteal in Deathstalker rexxar. I used to run a single copy of deathaxe punisher because I had no other cards.
I thought you were gonna add that piggy with death rattle 7 of them to equip that south park weapon
this video ended up with a bit of "theyre bad because they specific vibe" so it didnt cross my mind - that card is definitely one of a kind!
for the 4th card, the punisher ironically, I'm just imagining playing at that time being f2p, you finally see there's an epic card in one of your packs and you get super hyped. Then you flip it over and it's that garbage card. Reminds me of how the only legendaries I opened back in the day were gvg Hemet and Boogeyman, I am not joking.
same idea goes for the other epics. I guess it was called boogeymonster but whatever. Also I remember opening that trash legendary that's like a 7/7 for 8 that gained +1/+1 at the start of your turn or something like that, no idea what it's called but this was around the time that the 7/7 for 4 got printed smh. Why do they make so many terrible legendary cards?
shout out to Gruul
@@simonappel2599 Gruul was pretty ok back then, especially for a F2P, he just got powercrept a tad fast
Gruul wasn't good even when only the base set was out
Not even mention of star aligner? The only overly specific card that actually worked and created a combo
nutty card
"Crimson Expanse"
~Cleary never watched Dane playing Grumbo Warrior...
That name speaks for itself 😂🔥
E.M.P Operative saw play in tournaments
I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm
Uh oh
Yeah but thats open decklist
when?
@@520_metal around Rise of shadows
I know this game since 2014, i left like 2 years, and watching this video is how i knew about the existence of Deathaxe.
I'm going to add Azerite Elemental, Against all Odds, Dread Raven, Grimtotem Buzzkill, The Lobotomizer, Posse Possession, and Master of Ceremonies to this list
Argent Watchmen should be a 2 mana 3/6 or even 4/6, or should be buffed to 1 mana 3/4 in Caverns of Time. Better miracle salesman. Go to the moon, 0 mana 2/3 for even decks (with charge)
Crimson Expanse has synergies with Charge and indeed, DH cards that have an effect upon awakening.
Maybe the point of the life steal hand buff, is if you want to focus on lifesteal minions, and you you keep that You can ensure one of your lifesteals gets the buff
If DeathAxe Punisher wasn’t an EPIC card. Maybe Idda thought about using it in a deck cause I love love the 3/4 hound.
Deathaxe Punisher is pretty cool in conjunction with High Priestess Jeklik.
desert obelisk, defias cleaner
that random mech hunter support in galakronds awakening.
why is there like 7 tech cards in descent of dragons
I climbed to legend with Crimson Expanse a few times, back when there was that naga that could cheat out an Illidari, and All Fel Breaks Loose. Crimson was really good for that.
yea it managed to see play, despite the specific effect!
Words cannot describe how much I hate that Deathaxe Punisher is holding an Arcanite Reaper yet doesn't have 5 attack
Furnacefire should have said:
Eat all weapons in your hand and gain their stats. For each weapon consumed, draw a card.
Then atleast, it wouldn't dismantle your handsize.
If there would ever be a crad that benefits from dormand or that you would want to get on board for later turns without risking to have it being removed next turn crimson expance could suddenly turn into a great card for that. But I doubt that will happen as hearthstone is not moving towards a slow enough format for such things.
I really wish Shadow Word Forbid would destroy ALL 4 attack minions (wherever they are)
LOL please let me destroy theotars everywhere
These basically all have one extra line or phrase that makes it super niche
OF COURSE Mark is in this video lol.
I think there could be a bit more optimism, but honestly I would love to see more of this,
Lots of neat... but ultimately useless cards in HS and some of them need to be shown off as an option for a off-meta deck
Furnacefire colossus would have been interesting if it also gave the keywords of the weapons.
9:00 let bro cook 🔥
😂
Deathaxe could be buffed to a 4/5 and it would STILL never see play
Hell, probably the same for Argent watchmen
I thought the number 1 would be that legendary card which reads: "If you're holding a dragon destroy a legendary minion". Is giga specific
this isn't a top 7 list - if this does well i'll include that in the next one - wish I thought of it!
My favorite obscure, unusable card is Proving Grounds, personally.
what is the use case for this card? like what were they intending it to do, I guess summon two deathrattles to maybe die?
I used it in a dumb deck where I summoned two Troll Centurions to deal 16 to the opponent's face because that's the only thing I could think of that's specifically enabled by it. but what were they cooking lol
Mechathun and poisonous minion is the only thing I've seen been done 😂
What about the hunter spell. For 3 mana, deal 3 damages, next spell has +2 spell damage. Very odd in hunter.
That 9 mana 10/10 charge can't attack. Literal waste. No minion tribe, its a legendary?? (sucks if you open it from a pack) People will play this one time for one giggle and never seen again
It made sense when it came out, since Rush wasn't a thing and wouldn't be for another three years. Still terrible, but it makes more sense as a legendary.
Ah, you mean Icehowl from TGT.
If deathaxe punisher would also heal you for the attack of the minion it buffed, it might justify its existence.
That would be good yea
Crimson Expanse synergizes with the current standard mech/deathrattle warrior...
to massive success surely
Furnace fire otk decks are fun
Certainly looked like it
EMP Operative makes sense. Golakka Crawler destroys a tribe that has low cost minions. EMP Operative not only can destroy high cost cards, Magnetize is also a unique Mech thing so it's also possible more Mana was spent to buff a Mech, making EMP Operative's Battlecry even stronger. In order for the tech card to not be a blowout they made its cost high.
I think half the time you forgot what the word 'specific' means. Both Crimson Expanse and Argent Watchman are just generically bad cards, but nothing is really 'specific' about them. Both damaged minions and hero powers are just things that happen organically in almost every match. A good fit for the list would have been Skulking Gheist, who was made specifically to target Jade Druids. Or either of the Hemet Nesingwary's (IIRC one kills a beast, and the other destroys all cards in your deck that cost 3 or less).
Jordan winning games with Shadow Word Forbid in his deck, card clearly broken
I guess for that prince dude who has infinite infuse
Dude i love crimson expanse
Ew, even that 5 cost 3/3 destroy mech is an epic. 1/4th for card disenchanting love it
EMP Operative actually saw play lol
Wow
Where?
To defend the inspire card, offensively, it's hot garbage. Defensively, more interesting. Opponent plays Bloodfen Raptor, I play Argent Watchman, and now there's a mindgame; if I have nothing better to do, I can clear the 3/2, leave myself with an atrocious 2/1, but still, a 2/1. So, it might be better for my opponent to overpay to remove the bad minion, even if I'm not intending on Hero Powering.
i mean sure - the 4th health is the only thing its got going for it
Argent Watchman isn't overly specific (using your hero power happens all the time), it is just bad. All this downside for 1 extra health? The card would be good with enough stats but 2/4 is just a joke.
Can you define what you mean by specific? Argent Watchmen is a very bad card but I don't see how its specific
Gotta hero power to make the card textless
1:46 39k DUST????
I finally just hit the button I stopped caring enough to min-max
My boy Chump!
REND BLACKHAND
Yea if I do this again that's a perfect card
Shut up prieat should of made it on the list, only card (rhat i can think of) that mention another class.
lol I guess we could call that a card
Oh, I forgot to comment...
no star aligner is evil...
Star Aligner gets away with it because its whole flavour is that it triggers when the stars align.
I thought about it - that card was super broken 😂
EMP operative never saw play, dont listen to these comments
😂
Chump!
What's that card from PIP that says "after your opponent summons a minion on your turn silence and destroy it"?
ooh yea thats a good one - murloc too for reasons
Bayfin Bodybuilder. Unironically it actually saved me during my very first run of Madame Lazul in Galakrond's Awakening. I got this minion off of Murloc Knight and unaware of the second phase vs. Go'Rath I freaked out a bit when I saw his board fill with minions, then I laughed when Bayfin immediately destroyed all of them.
