- Aesir is first mentioned in the Records Of Time where Luka explains his legend and how the god used to be the ruler of the human realm upon creating the Eyes for humanity. He is not physically encountered until his evil half, Loptr, absorbs the Eyes from Bayonetta and Balder and obtains the god's power in a reawakening. He then clashes with the Witch and Sage, using all of the powers at his disposal until Loki intervenes. Using his remaining power and reminding Loptr that Aesir's true power is over nothingness, Loki destroys the Eyes and Loptr suddenly loses the power of his original form, easily beaten by the combined summoning his opponents pull off moments later... As funny as it is that Bayonetta callded Balder "Daddy" i still cried. This whole Journey was really emotional for her. Her BFF/ GalPal died, she saw her Mom and dad lost them both AGAIN then lost the kid she had formed an almost motherly relationship with AGAIN. Poor Woman needs a vacation, and maybe some therapy lol

And thus we see how Balder became evil. Pretty sad, when you think about it. The poor guy can't seem to cut a break. Exiled from his clan, is unable to see his wife until the Witch Hunts, his wife sacrifices herself to save him, his yanked away from his dead wife's side twice and isnt really given a proper opportunity to grieve, fights his daughter, sacrifices himself to contain an embodiment of evil thus being corrupted in the process, forced to fight his daughter again and finally dies. Even in death Balder still cant be with his wife in the afterlife. Very sad.
I FORGOT ABOUT HOW UMBRAN WITCHES AND LUMAEN SAGES WORKED.
Ok now I'm sadder than before now. I just hope that maybe, in an ironic twist of fate, Balder is rejected by Paradiso after he helped Bayonetta in his youth (timelines...) so, in a way, maybe he can follow Rosa even in death and Inferno.

The painful thing about this, for Cereza (Bayonetta) is that this is the beginning of the first game where she eventually goes on to kill her father, before she even knows it him, also if you think about it her life is a destiny trap (borrowing Doctor Who reference here) she kills her father in the past only to in the future watch as he seals away Loptr and vanishes.

It's funny...in the Japanese version she literally just says "Okay" in English (well... Engrish) but it's still kinda badass cause when anime/Japanese speaking characters use English it's impactful cause it's intentional (Japanese people think English is Cool just like how weebs think Japanese is cool...it's something out of the ordinary)
But I think let's rock is"more canon" cause some franchises (like Kingdom Hearts) get English dubs primarily/first... so that's kinda the intention of the creators. Bayonetta didn't get Japanese VAs until the anime and the second game. And I like how it's a reference to Devil May Cry cause I feel like Dante has said let's rock multiple times 😂

Well that's nice so Bayonetta gets to see that her dad really wasn't evil and that he did love her.
The end of the final boss is kind of a real tearjerker when you think about it. Balder basically sacrifices himself to help put a stop to a great evil and Bayonetta realizes that her father truly cared about her and Rosa. Bayonetta cries out to her father and desperately tries to grab him, but he is sent back to his own time and is fated to die. A real cruel circle of fate.
Both rosa and balder are dead and now cereza is the only member of the family of the eyes of the world

So it wasn’t Balder’s fault all this time even in the first Bayonetta game. It was Aesir’s evil half, Loptr who corrupted him, that caused all of that destruction. In the movie Rosa informed Cereza that Balder was blinded by a madness. So Bayonetta had fulfilled the promise in the first game to stop Balder from straying from the path that causes him to renew the earth’s history
Loki/Loptr/Aesir are black icons. I'm so glad Bayonetta gave us Rodin and then these 3. Cool getting some representation/shine.

The ending as well as the scene where she liberates Jeanne shows how much Hashimoto and Kamiya really improved on building Bayonetta's character. The sequel made Bayonetta more human and a bit less perfect as well as giving her a variety of emotions. She can now become relatable unlike the predecessor where Bayonetta was a borderline Mary Sue, even though I do like how badass she was in that game.
While her emotions did get a lot heavier with Bayo 2

AkiTheRedWolf Bayonetta could barely show any emotional attachment to things in Bayo 1 because she had barely any memory if anything. She was also thrown about and bashed around a lot so she was never op. She showed way more character development in Bayonetta 2 definitely but it was never absent in 1 as she discovered the truth about Jeanne, Young Cereza and Luka.

Well how couldn't balder know she's Cereza, Her mothers always hiding her face with those clothes but Balder on the other hand is different matter. Maybe when he first saw bayonetta he knew she was the exact spitting image of her beloved Rosa hence why he probably knew it was Cereza from the future.
The dialogue between Balder and Loptr reminds me of the cutscene before the final battle with Zanza in Xenoblade Chronicles

So, like... How the fuck did Screw Attack declare Dante beating Bayo, when she fought Aesir? A dude well above anyone Dante has fought in DMC? In the first game, she punched Jubileus into the sun. That puts her well above planetary. Something Dante is nowhere near
2 years late for this, but I think even Kamiya who created both has gone on record that Bayonetta would be stronger.

9:57 - 11:12 is my favorite cutscene of all time
I always find Balder's part in this game incredibly heartbreaking and tragic. He never willingly turned his back on his lover OR his daughter despite being a devout Lumen Sage, was separated from both of them, and to top it all off, he nearly killed her when Aesir's evil possesses him. That part where he asked Bayonetta to call him "Daddy" was a desperate plea to be seen as the loving father he never got to be, and it's the only solace he gets.
My man had it worse than nearly all the other characters in the game.

At the first cutscene where Balder died at the present time, it was after the occasion where Bayonetta and Balder fight Jubelius, also got defeated by Bayonetta in the 1st game. However, what makes me questioning this game is the time zone, or a different universe.....my head is about to exploded.
But at least the good news is that Balder is not a bad guy, it just that he accept to get possessed of pure evil from Jubelius.
*sigh. 2 months late, but here we go.
For simple explanation: both Bayonetta games are 1 big circle. With the entire thing are seperated with past-time and present-time.
After Rosa's death, Balder who, with the help of Loptr, travel to the future 500 years later after the great war to meet "that witch".
After both characters join force at Vigrid, they were force to fought against there own respective enemy *along with their own past-selves* but go on seperate ways, this explain why we see past-time Cereza and Jeanne running to Rosa's Corpse after both Balder and present-time Cereza left.
With the battle against Loptr ends and Balder is "poisoned",and ask his daughter to " promise to kill him" if thing go wrong . Then, he have been sent back to past-time Vigrid just a moment after he left with Bayonetta to prepare for his "back up plan", *while at the same time Jeanne have prepared to sealed off Cereza to protect the left eye*
This set the stage for Bayonetta 1 where she would awakened from her slumber, find out the truth, and fight "poisoned" Balder and his "back up plan". Defeat him and go to shopping with Enzo.
At the same moment, Balder dies as shown in the introduction and thank Cereza for fulfilling her "promise to kill him". Bayonetta then go to the village to find a way to save Jeanne, fought the Angles and Inferno, until she finally meet past-time Balder, who just found "that witch" he was searching for.
And things go full circle, again and again forever.

But since it is a big loop, i guess in the third game, Bayonetta 3, will do something that will stop this time loop forever.

Then, this time-travel plot is over as Bayonetta have already completed the loop and basically no longer bounds to it.

Its seems that Bayonetta will be on the losing side this time against her opponent. This might become more interesting than I thought.
John Carter I dont know if the third game will relate to the Left/Right eye again, but I guess it will relate to time travel again because Bayonetta's suit in the trailer was from the first game.
I don't know, I'm kinda not into time travel game series because it usually mess my mind all over the place. But Bayonetta has a good game plot and awesome gameplay. So hopefully, the third game would might be more interesting plot and cool CGI.
