I have been home from the Trail for a week. Finally got to watch part six and I am ready to hit the trail again. Thanks for the memories. Now I have to work on my own video. I know there are lots of Landmark references in the footage.
Another outstanding video. "Today I decided to be miserable." I appreciate your honesty. I find solo long distance hiking to be a real emotional roller coaster.
Totally awesome video, as expected. The narration and the drama, the joy and the sadness, the marmots, the water and the rocks are all your epic adventure! Viva Landmark!! Smiling here, shining star. Well worth the wait.
So I subbed right before you left for this trip. I started watching when you were talking about food prep and the math involved. I'm not on here that much, so by the time I logged in again I got to watch all of them so far in one day. So far this is an amazing funny adventure. With the LotR(Bags) and this episode opening with So I Married an Axe Murderer, and then you quoted The Princes Bride, Star Wars I'm pretty much boiling over.. you are pretty much the coolest! Keep up the travels! Stay Dry!
Thanks for taking me along on your journey. I don't think the JMT is in my future, but you gave me a good time. Thank you. May all your trails be smooth!
One thing I've found about the blues is how they hit you when you're doing a lot of hard effort hiking, sometimes even after a day or two of putting in the effort. Hit me on the PCT in Northern Cal'. The way to fight it, or endure them, is just keep walking. One of the many reasons I've gone to ultralighting or at the very least, lightweight hiking. Sure makes the trips like this much, much, mucho more enjoyable. And as for the tent leaks, I treat my tents, new or old, with spray-on silicon, every so many years. You just can't trust even brand name, high end stuff anymore. Factories don't pay attention to details like they once did. Hiking that high, you have to expect bad weather at any time of the year. Rising air makes clouds and it can cause the blues and get old and nasty, as you've often experienced in this one, but you know that... I feel for your strain and effort, but its all part of the experience you'll look back on with smiles and warm feelings, someday. This series has been a delight. Now, the big question is, When are you going to do the PCT??? Love 'em!
Another great installment. My favorite part of JMT, Evolution to Tyndall Creek. Can wait, but don't want to, for next installment. Glad you got past the sad Landmark.
I have been home from the Trail for week now. Finally got to see part six. Made me want to pull the pack out of the basement and head back. Thanks for the memories. Now I have to start on my trip video. I know there are many Landmark references in the footage.
Inspiring. I gotta get out there before I'm too old to do it. To have go that far and then see Mt. Whitney in the distance ...I want to feel that. Big fan, thanks for your efforts.
Hiking with high humour. Love your vids and hikes mate - give the adventures all a full watch. There is a whole raft of thoughts and emotions in them, which i resonate with. I never tire of them. Keep em coming....Mt Whitney - what a profile!
Just great videos inspiring fun witty you have capture what its like on treks like this one. Thank you Brooklyn. I also love the other videos I was up till 2am watching.
I always enjoy the scenery and dialogue but thought I'd give you a thumbs up on the audio/music this time. People don't realize how time consuming it can be to find the right stuff and then making sure TH-cam won't puke on it. Looking forward to the next one:)
Y are one of a kind, love your videos. I am starting the JMT in on Aug. 18th and I am hoping I don't have your unfortunate luck with the thunder storms. Keep posting, can't wait for your next video.
To answer Clarke's four month old question she hates her sunglasses she bought in Yosemite. I hope to hike the PCT next year or so. I found your videos very helpful and I thank you for them. I admire your courage. I'm nervous about nights alone in the wild. I'd imagine I'll get used to them.
Your vids are getting better and better. Really enjoyable. You seem to be drawing a Marmot fan base. They know you really love 'em, 'cause you've lugged food for them all the way up there.....
great vid as always. waiting for another as usual. sad to hear about the tent, but rain will eventually get in. it is just about the amount of water it has to deal with and how long. sometimes you have to feel sad to feel good again. i am to glad to see that the sadness didn't stay. stay safe and don't use every weekend editing vids. you seem happiest in the back country.
Wanted to drop you a line. I am not a frequent commenter but felt that the time you put into these, music choices, and their overall quality required an atta-girl. Mixing in the map, titling, and your overall silliness (poetry, songs, etc) make this series. Started last night with your food review and couldn't go any future with reaching out. You are throughly entertaining [and very appealing woman:) ]. Subscribing - Thank you!
Another great video of your trip. Thank you for putting these together. Awesome scenery; great commentary too. I stayed up until 3AM yesterday morning watching your other Muir Trail trip videos. I was wondering when the next would be posted. Good timing on my part. Patiently waiting for the next one... ETA; have you ever put together a "What I bring on my trips" video?
Thanks Landmark for another awesome adventure with you. I must agree with the silentmordecai, sad landmark makes me sad as well. Now we all must patiently wait for 7, and we will! BTW if you didn't see my comment on episode 5 please give it some thought. Otherwise won't mention it again. I like the comment you posted by Muir re:...the very smile of God.
I've done a lot of east and Midwest hiking, but from some of your shots I'm thinking I need to make my way out there for a few trips!!! Have you hiked any of the AT sections? I would think with the area you hike out west the AT would fall short, but I have to say the Smoky Mountains are something to see. It's a hump, don't let it fool you; keep up with the great videos!!!!
Landmark has done a fabulous job on this, so this just really gets me, but I have to get it out: at 18:35 and on in this segment, that is NOT Whitney. Its just not. I am sorry I can't tell you what is is but I can't do the math. It has a sort of resemblance to the classic profile of Whitney as seen from Lone Pine, but LP is 13 miles due east of MW and Pinchot is 50 miles due north. Even if you could see MW from Pinchot, that's not the profile you would see. For extra credit though what is that tantalizing specter of the end of the trail that you see from Pinchot?
great video! sad landmark makes me sad though :( the picture fat 1914 looks like something god would come out of from Quest for the Holy Grail! haha. looking forward to the next post as always!
Omg...u r totally awesome... .love your videos couldn't stop watching last night... I plan to do jmt next year but just trying to get all info I can and where to begin..any advice...
Hello! I am trying to learn more about edible plants and such. Have you ever tried to supplement your food supply with any plants from the trail? or fish? or marmots? Oh! maybe I need a falcon trained to gather my dinner!
Brooklyn, do you know the hiker Red Beard? You and him are very interesting to watch. He had this umbrella that also is gray and reflects the sun away from him. But worked great for rain as well. I enjoyed your videos. You are very funny and remind me of Huell Howser. You would make a good PBS host. Just a thought.
Hi, may I first just say that you're hilarious! :-) I really like your whole approach in dealing with the circumstances and humorous anecdotes, especially the marmots bit. I have a question though. How do you pack your wet tent or how do you deal with packing and carrying a wet tent? Kind regards.
+Gert Maes I'm not sure how she does it, but i will shove it in a back mesh pocket on my pack and when i stop for lunch or a break, i'll pull it out of the back pocket and lay it in the sun or hang from a tree to let it dry out
+Katie Davis Thanks! That's a very good (and logical) advice! I'm looking for ways to keep the inner tent and the interior of my pack dry. This should do the trick.
ok ive had warmer tents this house is cold very cold if its 10% out side its 15%in side lol but my river + 0 sleeping bag is a life saver lol my hiking gear strikes again its making my wenter bearibable lol
I really would like to know what failed to make the tent leak. I am about to buy that same tent only updated 2015 model. what happened? Sorry you had a sad day, darn leak.
I believe it was the fact that on the short side of the rain fly there are no guy line ties. Therefore, after much heavy rain overnight, and the fly sticking to the tent side, water had access to the top of the seam where there is mesh. It was the only place it leaked and I've heard this happen to others. A simple fix is to attach some sort of loop or grommet so you can guy those sides out. I still hold faith in this tent. It was my bad. I see that the new version has less mesh. That should help.
Thanks for the reply. I feel better knowing it's something they addressed. I just wanted to say that my wife and I have really enjoyed the many smiles and laughs you have shared with us. Thank you for taking us along.
You need to get out more I miss your videos. To long in between, maybe you should retire so we will have more Brooklyn to watch. I think you would love it more anyway. RIGHT?
I have been home from the Trail for a week. Finally got to watch part six and I am ready to hit the trail again. Thanks for the memories. Now I have to work on my own video. I know there are lots of Landmark references in the footage.

Thanks for giving us a look at a wondrous place . It's beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us Brooklyn. I can't wait until the next one as always..

So happy for the latest JMT video from Landmark!
Man, the "Ivory Tower" moment with Mt. Whitney gave me serious glee.
I literally had that song in my head every time I saw Whitney in the distance!
Nice moment, but that is NOT WHitney
Just discovered this series. LOVE the "So I Married An Axe Murderer" reference!
Just great videos inspiring fun witty you have capture what its like on treks like this one. Thank you Brooklyn. I also love the other videos I was up till 2am watching.
Better than anything on TV - with the possible exception of Falling Skies. :-)
I always enjoy the scenery and dialogue but thought I'd give you a thumbs up on the audio/music this time. People don't realize how time consuming it can be to find the right stuff and then making sure TH-cam won't puke on it.

Very good video, lots of fun to watch. Thanks for sharing with us.
Each episode is the best one yet!

Awesome! Thanks for all the work on these. Glad your camera didn't end up in the stream when you crossed on the rocks.
bravo, another great installment. Thank you
that fantasia music haha classic Stoked for my solo trek this year!
Your vids are getting better and better. Really enjoyable. You seem to be drawing a Marmot fan base. They know you really love 'em, 'cause you've lugged food for them all the way up there.....
Loved the star wars theme/music. Well played.
Thanks! In that landscape, how can you NOT think sandpeople!

Another great installment as usual. I'm less than 25 days myself.......I hope we get to see the fate of the infamous sunglasses......lol
you will :)

Salida 2 leaked? Details? Used one before and loved it. Add Velcro to "ear flaps" if you don't tie down.
More great music choices!

Nice! John and I will be in Lake Tahoe for the start on or near August 12
Starting from Hwy 50 and will be hitting Sonora Pass and Kennedy Meadows on the 17th for a resupply.

These are AWESOME. Can you recommend any good beginner trails for a weekend hike?
Where do you live? How's your fitness? Do you want to go over night?
Bummer about the leak..... I just bought a Salida II. Oh dear.

All the rain -- what month did you go ???

LandmarkAdventures
Maybe you can, but that was NOT it.

Landmark send Food-Chain an email~ John and I are hoping we can meet up as we trek through your neck of the woods on the T2W. :)
what does she hate so much? @_@ i think i missed something.....also loved the poetry slam *snap* *snap* *snap* *snap*
Tyler Clarke John Muir she was basically making fun/poking at the inspirational quote he made by responding to the quote with “i hate em”
You need to get out more I miss your videos. To long in between, maybe you should retire so we will have more Brooklyn to watch. I think you would love it more anyway. RIGHT?
Beaver meat sure taste sweet.
Oh yea "hate them". :-P
