Shri Prince Shivaji Maratha Boarding House's New Polytechnic Kolhapur...
Lokraja Rajarshi Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja, a visionary King of Kolhapur Sansthan, who made all-round development of Kolhapur District in the beginning of 20th Century. Kolhapur emerged as a developed Sansthan in agriculture, industry, social reforms, classical music, fine arts, wrestling, spirituality, women empowerment, health and most importantly education of deprived societal classes.
Knowing that education is the only pathway to uplift the ideology and self-esteem of deprived classes, he founded separate caste wise boarding houses, offering them the opportunity of education. He founded Shri Prince Shivaji Maratha Boarding House in the year 1920 in memory of his beloved son Late Prince Shivaji.
Operating on an ideology of "Bahujan hitay, Bahujan sukhay', the Institution has been honored as 'Ideal Educational Institution' by the Government of Maharashtra. Now, the Institution has three Boarding Houses and eleven varied education branches having volume of more than 13000 Students and 39 PhD & 287 Post Graduate Faculties.
NBA Accredited New Polytechnic, briefly NPK, is one of the leading branches established in the year 1983 which has received the 'Best Polytechnic Award' from ISTE Delhi and consecutively achieved 'Excellent Grade' in the Institute Monitoring by MSBTE, Mumbai.
NPK runs six full time Diploma Engineering Programmes which are Automobile, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics & Computer and Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning affiliated to MSBTE, Mumbai. It also runs short-term skill development courses. Cyber Security Management and Interior Designing & Decoration courses are Non-AICTE and affiliated to MSBTE, while Junior Software Developer and Multi skill Technician (Electrical) courses are affiliated to National Skill Development Corporation.
NPK has more than 30 MOUs with varied industries and commercial organisations which are active for the educational visits, sponsored projects, internships and placements. NPK has professional organisation chapters & certifications including ISTE, Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Plumbing Association, The Maharashtra Solar Manufacturer's Association. The culture of Innovation & Entrepreneurship is being nurtured in NPK through the MoE's Institution's Innovation Council and Authorised Training Center of Maharashtra Center for Entrepreneurship Development. A business startup 'Rajarshi Shahu Tech Center' is being established in NPK which will be operated through the 'Earn and Learn Scheme' for the Students.
The uniqueness of NPK is that the average experience of the Faculties is 20 years, who focuses on project based and practical oriented learning of the Students.
NPK's Alumni strength of more than 12500 is serving the Nation and also abroad. About 4500 Alumni have occupied higher cadres in MNCs, 1200 in Government and Semi Government Sector which includes Pollution Control Board, Public Works, Irrigation, Power Sector, Sidko, Railways, Transport. About 5000 Alumni has their own reputed businesses offering best services to the Society. Importantly, most of these Alumni are looking back with the feeling of gratitude and contributing for the welfare of the Institute and its Students.
For the Students, NPK offers bus transport, effective implementation of Government Scholarship Schemes, facility of tuition fee payment through easy EMIs.
Recently, New Polytechnic has been awarded Accreditation for three years by National Board of Accreditation.
Over its glorious 41 years, New Polytechnic has emerged as a light house in technical education in Western Maharashtra, providing the competent Engineers to the Society who has contributed in building the Nation.
