2 speed automatics was not just a Ford thing GM had it and Chrysler did too. most cars from the 60s had them unless they were manual
GM's Powerglide circa 1958-1969 were also 2-speed automatics. Unfortunately, we have one in our Olds Rocket Powered S10. Keep the content coming, I know it's time consuming, but prefer to watch your videos after I finish editing mine.
Thank you. I served in the Air Force
Thank you for your Service!
Thank you for your service Sir.
when i was like 5, my uncle paul had a 63 futura. 260 3 speed on the floor with bucket seats.light blue.i loved that thing.
Love you guys.
We love ya back!
As a Chevy man I still appreciate a good Ford . Actually I appreciate any old car, and am glad to see them brought back to life rather then seeing them crushed.there are only so many out there. That why its necessary to save as many as possible. Unfortunately I don’t have the room to do what you do. Keep the great videos coming.
I personally don't have the money myself.
Yeah and then there’s that LOL
On the falcon door, it looked like Jesus.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Good morning ! GM had two speed transmissions in the 60’s ( FYI ) have a good week end !
That's why all the good old cars are gone because people like that hold them to the junkyard
Can't stand to see a classic get scrapped!
“Sabrina” ❤ the Falcon looks cool with that patina, can’t wait to see what you find in” Billy-Ray”😊❤
this has nothing to do with the video Garth, i just wanted to tell you how impressed and proud of ya dude!! you doing it and and whipping it raising them kids on your own. as a man myself i recognize you fella. you are whats right in the world!!!
and it aint killed neither of them... the grease and oil and whatnot, warms the heart!!
I truly appreciate the kind words.
Dude, did u take the instrument panel apart and clean it on that car ? That things beautiful ! Worked in a steel mill 22 years, sorry don't hear good at all ! Thumbs up man, keep posting please ! 👍✌
That's the way it came. Surprised me as well!
Reba. Call her Reba : still awesome after all these years.
Fiona falcon! On another note how does anybody think this is faked??? Forget the haters man! Keep up the good work. Yours is one of the most genuine auto/family channels on the tube.
Yeah, that faker comment really confused me! 🤣
@@garthsgraveyardgarageDude there is no way this is fake. I don't get that comment either 😕.
What a great relationship with ur daughters, quality time with a purpose and working on cool stuff.
Great video as always
Hazel sounds good awesome video with graveyard princess
On the door, my first thought was it looked like Chuck Norris wearing a sweatband with his arms up in a "hell yeah" pose.
She's right bud in the old days that's how you checked to see if they had antifreeze in them if it tasted sweet then you knew it had some in the radiator
Tina short patina or tinny tiny Tina. On the door, I see a hippie soccer dude with a sweat ban. He is holding his arms up in Victory! When I was just a young boy, my dad had a white Falcon just about the same as yours. The motor was worn out and it was a manual 3-speed. He had trouble getting started on a hill with 5 passengers. I drove a 1966 Falcon two-door sports coupe to high school. I learned from my dad how to work on cars. Tune-ups, brakes, and U joints. Carburetors on kitchen tables, those were the days!
That is for sure had a 1970 Ford F250 Camper Special that I took the 2 barrel carb off its 390 V8 and rebuilt it right on the table on my porch whe I lived in Massachusetts. Now have returned back to Michigan and don't know what happened to that truck. Was burning oil badly and the state started tougher inspections. 😮
The fuel feed is probably air locked as there was no vent in the fuel “tank” !
I would like to suggest the name of Gertrude because it reminds me of my aunts car when i was a kid. She had a1962 Mercury Comet that was about the same color as the one you have. I remember in the 60's ford and mercury had some weird paint colors. I also remember in the mid to late 60's there was a number of the small cars like the Falcon , Comet , Chevy II, Chevelle, Rambler American, Tempest and Olds F-85 that ran a 2 speed automatic and was a big thing in dirt track stock cars that did not want to use a manual transmission on short tracks. My one Uncle who raced use to say drop it in low gear and let er eat, if the transmission took a crap, just go to the junkyard and grab another. He would use up two every year he raced and always had a spare trans with him at every race and I have seen him change a trans in 15 minutes at the track.
I like it and it does sound great. Call it Kermit for the green on it. Thank you for thanking us Veterans I served 25 years and I’m retired and 70% Disabled. But it doesn’t slow me down much.
Thank you sir for your service.
With you two working together you know it's going to be funny
Once again as always love it and for a name I'm going to have to go with Elvira. And tell the little one I think raspberry Pop-Tarts are the best yummy❤❤. And I can't wait to see you start on Billy Ray I think that's going to be a neat project.
My pop tarts were smores flavored, definitely my favorite 😁
Everyone lives a Falcon , good job rescuing , I have a 1965 futura .
I would call it Foghorn Falcon. It combines two of my favorite
Things from my childhood. Watching Saturday morning cartoons and my falcon. Also rolls of the tongue.
Wow that Ford sure has seen better days.
Seems the falcon was a popular car in the day.
I wish upu both the best of luck k.
You are both competent mechanics.
So let's see....❤
I have a niece named for her Betsy you have a wonderful video I like your contents and you work very hard on the cause thank you for rescuing all those old Vehicles God bless and stay safe
My friend had a 2 speed Volvo once. The torque converter helps it on uphill starts, so 2 speeds do work.
howdy, still interested in the engine out of the ChevyII/Nova.
Shoot me an email garthsgraveyardgarage@gmail.com
I'm a Chevy guy, but it's hard to beat the Ford inline sixes.
Love the projects you are doing ! Love your upfront and down to earth approach to everything and both the kiddo's being involved. How about Turbo. Love you. Keep doing what you do.
My suggestion for the Falcon name is "Birdie". This happens to be my grand mother's name as well. Unfortunately, she passed when I was just a baby. However, I am told that she too ran real good and steady for her age, lol. Love your family friendly channel and videos. Keep up the great work and rescues.
I’m baaack, Pet Sematary comes to mind, the cat, Church or the kid Gage, hey, you brought it back to life.
Since it's a Ford "Money Pit" would be appropriate. LOL Joking aside christen her "Cookie". Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Just came upon this video. I have a fully restored 63-1/2 ford falcon sprint. There good cars. Mine has a 260 with 4 speed. Granddad bought it brand new and it’s been in family since. Great content! Keep em coming!
Franky the fun time falcon Love the show. Take care Garth and girls
I wish I discovered you earlier I really like what you're doing and that's back in my days in the 60s and 61s and all that while I was before that but that's when I was fooling with them love to see him
Fiona would be a great addition to your collection love watching your daughter work side by side with you keep up the great videos
As a fellow Garth, I approve of this video.
Party on!
Love seeing old discarded cars run again. Preminnial falcon for a name.
Falcons were for the average joe, they didnt have alot of options back then. Cheap to produce, and were fairly reliable, and easy to work on!
The 1961 model is the best! (year i was born😂😂😂)
I'd call her Flora because the blue and green gives of a "nature" look!
(My 2 cents worth)
Great video
I like that one!
My maternal grandmother had a couple of those old Falcons over the years (not at the same time). As I remember, they were pretty peppy. She loved hers. We'd go under bridges and we'd all yell "Honk the horn, Gramma!" Good times.
Thanks!
You rock! Thanks so much!
The torque converters torque multiplication is what makes a 2 speed trans practical. The last year for the fordamatic two speed was 1964. Then they brought out the c4 3 speed automatic. I like the simplicity of the fordamatic. They are light weight, reliable, and easy to pull and rebuild too.
Good morning ☀️ Garth’s grave yard garage I think 🤔 you are a great 👍 mechanic and you have a amazing family to help you with the work you do for the cars 🚘 that you put back on the road I’m old school 🏫 and I like 👍 to see the cars 🚗 back to original I like 👍 your Volkswagen bug 🐜 it looks great you and your family have a great day I also think 🤔 the nova will make your daughter a great 👍 daily driver for her and your grand daughter
I have a soft spot for Falcons. Owned one years ago and it was one of the most reliable cars I’d had back in the day. This ‘61 you’re working on is a cute little girl that has lots of potential and needs some Love. I would call her “ Franny “
Falcon crest, I think that would be a good name for the old car like your channel. Keep it up. Thanks.
A lot of Powerglides are used in drag racing 1 shift and they can be made to handle a lot of power!
I had this very car, paint, engine, etc., when I was a kid in high school. If it could talk… Engine was simple, very underpowered but tough as hell!. I spent a lot of time under its hood… Thanx for showing this! You’re a fabulous team!
Love your channel! Like seeing your daughters loving old cars. Great name for the Falcon. JONEL
Glad you enjoy it!
I saved a 71 4 door Nova from the junk yard. I love the old cars. I hope to see this get back on the road. Great save I will be looking for more of your video's
To me when it first started turning over. It seemed compression was extremely low. I believe it started picking up as it got turning over more. Thanthe break you give it was just what it needed after a little heat. Those rings popped lose than compression came up enough to bust off. It wasn't free spinning after that. Or it didnt sound to me like it was. Starter had to work more to make it spin. With some nice wheels I can see this car being fun
Ford made a good group on inline 6 cylinder engines. They could sit for a long time and with a little work they will go again just like this one 😊
I would call her "Matilda Jane" I really enjoy seeing all the miracles you perform on these old vehicles.
One more name, Hermione, this one’s just for fun, Darby.
I love your videos and especially on these old cars there the best it's a new vibe for you. I have seen the old k mart oil filters I used to go there back in the days when I was growing up! I believe a good name for the falcon is "Betty" it was my grandma's and mom's name.😊
Thanks IAM. a vet. First time I viewed. I like her show
I’d call it Festis the falcon 😊
Nice work. I’m not a Ford fan but I can totally dig what you have going on with that car. I like Francesca the Falcon for a name.
The cat's done a number on THIS old bird, but I want to see the bird airborne again one day soon. These Falcons have an odd special character all their own.
I’m looking forward to seeing all the up coming videos, I would name the car Falcon Crest,it sounds good😁😁👍👍
Great to watch you working on all tour vehicles, many thanks From Rotorua New Zealand
Horus: This name comes from the ancient Egyptian god of the sky and is often associated with falcons.
Goodlord!,did the Hulk tighten the sump plug?😁
Great job getting this old girl running and I think phenix would be a good name for her
Just found you. Excited to catch up and join you all live tonight.
Garth, The name I Pick is diamond in the rough. Thank you rich
My first car was a '61 Falcon two door and your video brought back memories of it,in case you haven't found out by now the gas tank bolts down through the tank floor and the engine uses solid lifters that probably needs adjusted, mine had the rocker pedestal clogged up and it was worn enough that it was noisy even if you adjusted the rockers,we ended up taking the assembly off and unclogging it then Dad made a bushing to quiet down the noise, mine was a 144 with the air cooled two speed Fordomatic transmission as well.
how about rocket sense it has so much horse power lol great video i enjoy watch you and the kids work on cars together can't wait for part 2
Continued prayers for the little one in Jesus Name 🙏
Love this!! I own two Falcons. A 61 sedan delivery and a 62 two door. The 62 has a 170/2 speed auto and I daily drove that car for a decade. Been all over the west with it. 65mph on the Interstate no problem. At 70 its starting to talk a bit. Lol
Nice job brother. “Fiona Falcon” is a looker!!! Get some tread on the girl and get on the road.
Central California watching
Fancy! I love falcons..
Great video. “Jasmine” is running schwell!! Keep up the good work
I gotta say, you guys are an absolute blessing. This video was super damn helpful. My mom has a "1961 1/2" ford falcon 3 on the floor stick shift with the front bucket seats. Its in my grandparents backyard exposed to the rain and hasnt run for at least 35yrs. She said i could have it as long as i get it out of the weather 😍 so far ive machined and resurfaced the head of the engine at my autoschool and now i need to derust the tops of the pistons i left exposed(never put head back on smh). I hope i get her running some day too!
You can do it!
I'd call the falcon either old Betsy or blue cloud or classic falcon or just call her a surviver
Nice Falcon!😊
enjoy your day tomorrow from Canada
Awesome save.
That Ol’ six-banger, I say, keep it and maybe put some performance parts on it.
Just stumbled across your channel. I just added your channel to my "Must" watch channels. Keep up the great videos.
Thank you so much!
Great video.
That car is cool man it's got some cool patina and I like the the bumper on it the dash it's awesome
A friend of mine owned a light blue 1961 Ford Falcon and we rode everywhere and listened to Mountain and Deep Purple and Savoy Brown and others while we were expanding our Mental Capacity!! He had wedge speakers under the front seats and shelf 6x 9 speakers in the rear…Gas was 21 cents per gallon!!
Great video! Love these old Falcons. You should probably drop that oil pan and check the pick up screen. Even newer vehicles get clogged up.
Gm also had power glides. I had one as a kid in a 66 chevelle. The work great. And it’s a wanted thing in stage racing.
Love the videos you have an awesome family. God bless 🙏. The Falcon looks like a Frank
I thought the image on the door was a mopar roadrunner decal???? Name her Frannie the Falcon.
Felicity Falcon sounds good
I was looking right at voltage regulator while you were changing the plugs.lol.rite on the rad support
I realized it later 😁
One wire alternator is the best, quickest upgrade for a62 or older Falcon. 80 bucks well spent. Switch the hood letters, and just call it Dorf.
A friend did that with his early seventies Pinto lol
I’d call it raven ✌️☠️
144 cu in is a smooth lil motor. My father had a 61 falcon panel truck he loaded it full of iron pipes and tools sagging on the ground with lil 13 inch tires. He was a plumber and he beat the crap out of it. Sold it still fully operational
Also the thing on the side kinda looks like the Ford V8 logo I'm very thankful for your channel not enough clean content creators on here keep up that great work.
I often go with small spark plug gaps on old motors that foul plugs, even more so If I retain old plug wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, coil etc. so on a car like that I think I would gap to .015" until I got new components and then only go to .020".
After what that falcon’s been through, I think The Beast or Brutus might be a good name or even night bird.
My buddy in high school (back in the late 70’s had a falcon like that. It looked very similar to that. He painted on the side of it “The Mangy Beast”
Hey Garth if you haven't got that running good yet look for a air breather or air fuel mixture screw on that carburetor but yeah that is a damn good running engine
Solid lifters on that motor , valves are adjustable to quiet her down some on the tickin noises
Looks like Jesus with His arms raised on the door
No matter what we'll always watch your videos
