Gem Drill contains one of my very favorite, easily missed moments of the whole series. Steven taught Peridot that what you say when you receive a gift is "wow, thanks". When he tells her he loves her...that's what she says. Because his love is a gift.
"It doesn't matter if it knows what it's doing. It's still going to do it." The amazing thing is, Peridot isn't wrong, at all. They just don't know their options, or that there even are options.
I always loved how Steven's point to Lapis about the leaves changing actually foreshadows something Rose says in a later episode to Greg: that the beauty of Earth and humanity is that EVERYTHING changes, nothing ever stays the way it is for long, it's always moving and shifting and becoming something different than what it was before, even people. Just a nice little mother-son connection.
The fight in Super Watermelon Island is such a treat. Seeing Alexandrite fight for the first time, after only being teased with her before, and her fighting with the weapons of Opal, Sugilite, and Sardonyx rather than her own. I also totally believe that her fire breath comes from a Ruby/Amethyst fusion, since both of them have some fire capabilities. And Malachite. There's some debate in the fandom whether she has her own distinct personality or if she's JUST Jasper and Lapis mashed together. I think the way she's depicted is super interesting. They tell us later (and it's kinda clear just from paying attention) that a fusion highlights shared or similar qualities between the individuals fusing, so naturally Malachite, an unstable and discordant fusion, wants to fight the Crystal Gems, because that's one of the only things Jasper and Lapis have in common.
Before I outgrew the size of it, I had a black T-shirt that said "We've All Got Each Other" on it, around an image of the bubbled Cluster. It was one of my favorite shirts, not just because it was pretty, but because the image and quote on it remind me that even when you feel psychologically like $h!t, there will always be other people who, even if they feel as bad as you do, they'll be there for you no matter what. We're all each other's support system because even tho we're all broken, we're in this together. And y'know what? It's beautiful.
8:37 Dangggg, Steven having a panic attack while this power (it's called Astral Projection, and he does it while asleep/unconscious) has to be the WORST, especially since he hasn't done it that many times before and it's only been with Gems in distress: Lapis as Malachite at the bottom of the ocean, and then with the Cluster. We learned before that Steven's powers are linked to his emotional state (yes, Uncle Grandpa was correct) so he can sense other Gems' emotional and mental states too. The Cluster's physical and emotional pain and panic were hurting him because he could feel them.
I think the Cluster thing was wrapped up a little too quickly and...messily? given how big the buildup to it was. HOWEVER! Season 3 I think is peak SU. The final episodes of this season I think are better than anything else this show has to offer and I absolutely can't wait for y'all to get to it!
I love the interaction of Steven and Peridot with the N64 controller:
"This doesn't feel right"
"Then use the D-Pad"

"Ready Freddy?"
"My name's Lapis"
"No prob Bob"
"...It's Lapis"
Wait til they see "Hit the Diamond" heeheeheeeeeee! XD
A new look means Paula got poofed and had to reform!
Also, don't feel bad - Steven ate a bit of baby melon at the end of the last melon episode.

- Did you destroy it?
- No, I talk to them.

Major Ewok vibes from the melonfolk. Makes me want to do more with the various plant and mushroom people in dnd.
