    The practice of doing a pre poo is super common amongst our coily and curly counterparts. Many of you may already be doing a pre poo without even realizing it (like oiling your hair before washing). In today’s video, I cover the main benefits of doing a pre poo and why it could benefit your over all healthy hair and scalp routine.

    Your video and details and knowledge are wonderful. I am grateful for that content you’re sharing because I was using it allll wrong until recently so thank you for educating me more. Please don’t take my comments on the “pre-POO” word personal it’s nothing to do with you or your hair or quality content. Thank you!!!!

    I use Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp and argan oil on the ends. When I put the argan oil on I do some finger detangling. The castor oil is for thinning hair but I don’t think it works.

    What’s the purpose of detangling your hair after applying the product? Mine says to apply it on the scalp so do I still need to detangle?

    I have a couple questions 1. Have you heard of the Mielle rosemary mint scalp and strengthening oil or the Camille rose rejuva drops grow back oil? And what do you think about them? 2. Do you think I could do the pre poo oiling and a deep conditioning treatment before washing my hair at the same time? Or would that be bad?

    • @SuhannaDeSilva
      @SuhannaDeSilva  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t used anything from Camille Rose so I can’t share any thoughts on the products but I’d recommend doing the oil pre poo obviously pre shampoo and then use your deep conditioner after rinsing out your shampoo.

    I like using an oil mixture, either jessicurl’s oil or I’ve used Tropical Isle Living’s red pimento oil (or just mixed jojoba, etc) I’m always wondering if it’s good to put over hair with lots of product on it...will it prevent the hair from getting clean when washing? I’m guessing that the water and suds will remove it, just wondering your thoughts.
    I think oiling is pretty simple to do and definitely helps with frizz! Massaging oil in also seems like it might help to work out the grease as grime and help the shampoo to break up that gunk!

      Definitely make sure you have a clarifying shampoo in rotation so you won’t have to worry about the oils/products clogging your hair follicles!

      @@SuhannaDeSilva oh I do. I was wondering more about the strands themselves. But I guess that a clarifier takes care of that too 🙃

      oiling the hair actually dries it out because it stops your hair from pulling moisture from the environment. oil is not moisturizing or hydrating at all, the only thing that can moisturize your hair is WATER. oiling the scalp can stop the cell turnover and further trap or create flakes. oil has no benefits to the hair and scalp. all you need is shampoo, conditioner, and a styling product like foam or gel. clarify once a month or so. no oil, no creams or leave ins. they’re quite pointless and a waste of time if you have already healthy hair ❤️

    I’ve always wondered if I should do a pre poo if my scalp feels dirty, or it’s become naturally oily after a few days of shampooing (to overcompensate the dryness in my scalp). Any thoughts?

      I have the same hair type. I used to oil my hair religiously when I was younger. Then this doubt took over and I stopped oiling it and now that amount of hair fall I have is making me come back to oiling before shampoo. I’d say don’t leave it overnight. Just do a 30 minute thing and massage it really well. Hope this helps.

      I actually hadn't heard of her until I just read your comment and checked her out! What she's saying makes a lot of sense, especially when I think in terms of skin, when we we refer to moisture, we're speaking of water. Referring to moisturizing as adding water and conditioning as adding lubricants/oils when talking about hair is something I know I personally don't do, I'm used to using them interchangeably when they're not haha.

    I've been trying to make oils work for so long, but for some reason I shed much more hair when I apply them to my scalp. I've tried Jojoba, Argan and Castor (and a mixture of all of them) and it happens every time 😩 I do apply them to the lengths though, that works 🙏🏻

    I am officially redacting forever the term “pre-poo”. Why would anyone want to say “ya I’m just doing my prePOO” like other person: “I’m sorry I didn’t hear you correctly whar was it?” “I prePOO before showering!” “……”
    Like how about PRESHAM. HELL EVEN PREWASH. NO POO. NO MORE POO. THIS IS NO LONGER THE CORRECT TERM TO USE. PRE WASH/treatments
