As a Canadian we are so proud of Jeff for showing nothing is impossible despite what life throws at you. He lost his sight to cancer when young and very sadly was lost to it a few years ago at only 40 years young, I believe. He played with and was immensely respected by names like BB King, SRV. and as the video features, Dr. John. Great reaction and way to honour Jeff ... Thanks !

I saw Jeff back in the winter of 1988 in a bar in Germany. He had just finished filming the movie, "Roadhouse"
The bar had a concert stage right next to it with balconies and theater like chairs that probably held 200 people. There were eight of us American standing right next to the stage, just to the right of Jeff Healey, he was probably 10 - 15 ft away from us but he was elevated, you know 5 ft higher than we were, sittingin his chair. Germans don't really express themselves that much especially this crowd, it seemed. At the end of every song they were just clapping, maybe a couple whistles, but the eighth of us would freaking go off and just scream and yell and whistle and it's crazy! Thats how you're supposed to react at a concert, especially when its Jeff Healey, especially when he's 10 to 15 feet away from you!!
After the third song, Jeff said, "We really appreciate you folks here from Germany. We're going to play some songs for y'all, but first I got to say," and he turned and pointed right at us saying, "you guys down there must be Americans! I dont know how y'all fit down there", i yelled back, "Theres only 8 of us and 2 of them are girls!", I guess he was a little shocked because he said, "Good lord, i thought there was at least 15 dudes standing there!" We all yelled and screamed some more ! Jeff just threw up a thumbs up👍and just started laughing! He told us it's great to have some Americans here to listen to his music. Lastly he said, "Y'all have a good and go ahead and yell as loud as you like my friends!"
It felt like a little bit of "15 minutes of fame"! What a night!
We met him back stage, my girlfriend and my buddy's wife (they're both smoking hot...lol) were the ones who saw the band out behind the stage so my buddy's wife yelled, "We love you, Jeff!" I watched as Jeff turned around and hilariously said, "Come on over here so i can get a better look at you two!" " A better look?" Pretty good line for a rich, young rock star! The drummer was talking to Jeff in his ear as the girls made their way over. The drummer wae telling him there's 2 of them and they're not ugly! The girls walked up to them and the first thing my girlfriend asked them is, "Alright! What did you just say to Jeff that made him invite us over?!" My girlfriend never held anything in, she'd come right out and say whatever she was thinking...no filters! Thats what I love about her, she my wife now. Anyway, we all chatted for a bit and got to talk with Jeff, I play guitar also, nothing close to how Jeff rips it up!
Yeah, so,it was a once in a lifetime thing. All 3 of Jeff's band mates were way low key. They were also quite intelligent!

National treasure here in Canada. One of the best guitarists on earth (weird technique and all); terrific singer; ace jazz trumpeter; jazz historian with a vast collection of vintage jazz 78s some of which he used to share with listeners to his radio show My Kinda Jazz. Funny enough onstage to have been a standup comedian, too, had he wished. Tragically, cancer had his number, and he died at 41...

Such an inspiration! Next stop, check out Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey performing "Look at Little Sister" together. It's another gang buster, and was the start of a lifelong friendship between the two guitar gods (but sadly, that proved to be much too short for both). Jeff was also in the popular movie Roadhouse, where he played the role as the leader of the bar band, and went on to successfully produce a number of albums and complete several world tours. According to the folks at Jeff's website, a documentary on Jeff's life is due out in 2024. Can hardly wait!

I first saw Jeff in the early 80s when he would take the TTC to Yonge St to play open mics. One night he played the same open mic with a band some of my old friends were in. It was at an old club at Yonge and Wellesley called the "Upper Lip". I must have seen him 4-5 times during those days. He would travel alone by streetcar and play wherever they would let him. Jeff actually lost his eyes to cancer at the age of 1. He was put up for adoption at that time. He went to the music school at Humber college but left because they would only teach him to play guitar strapped over his back. RIP Jeff you are truly one of a kind!!!

Stevie Ray said he loved Jeff Healey because he was the only guitarist that could keep up with him.

I had never seen that live version before, great choice. I know someone who must have had a long conversation with Tasha afterwards. Hey: now we know she can keep a secret. Here are a few names that perhaps you've never heard of...
John Campbell, slide/steel guitarist, made only 3 albums and like Jeff Healey he died too soon (at 41 in 1993.) Made a killer cover of ''When the levee breaks'' and the albums, although very dark, are worth the trip. Kenny Wayne Shepherd: guitarist from Shreveport, influenced by a mix of Hendrix and SRV not unlike Healey but with a twist of Louisiana. His first 3 albums (those I know) offer excellent material. And last but not least: Johnny Winter...but he comes with a lot of homework.
    Keep-up the good work.

Jeff is blind, and sell taught to play guitar, so having never seen anyone play, he just did what came natural to him. The guy on the piano is Doctor John. I got to see him live the year of Katrina.

Glad to see you react to this T !! Dr. John on the keys! I don't know if you've seen the movie "Roadhouse," with Patrick Swayze, but Jeff was the leader of the band. "Angel Eyes" is a great song by him also. Taken too soon at the age of 41 by sarcoma. Merry Christmas to you and Tasha ! I had my 70th birthday not too long ago. Still rockin' out !! 🎅🎄🎀✌

I come back to this video every two to three weeks, and check out peoples VIRGIN first timers. This reaction is in top 3 or 4. I enjoyed watching you enjoy this for the first time. Thank you.

@@christopherd.bottari3504 This wasn't my first time seeing it, but it was the first time that I saw T react to it ! I'm an old soul, besides being old ! Haven't seen him react to "Black Star" by Yngwie Malmsteen though! Now that's some good stuff from "back in the day." He starts out acoustic, but a lot of people don't see that the acoustic is on a stand, and the electric is at his hip! 🙃🤗💯✌
