Fascinating story Dan . This is exactly why I love postcards so much history to unravel. I am a Indiana boy and this story and history has so many Hoosier ties. Thanks for the research and showing us the beautiful postcards.
Great research Dan. I find connections like this fascinating. I am a little surprised you didn't shoot this video from The Polo Grounds old site. :o) Heck, it's in your backyard. I was fortunate to do a video from that location this past summer. There isn't much there, but it was fun to see the old site.
I also have this Polo Grounds post card. Mine is blank without any writing. It was the first edition of this card issued by the American Art Publishing Co. - H. Finkelstein & Son. Printed on the back with Polo Grounds, New York City, Home of the New York Giants on the upper left corner. There are numerous editions of these Polo Ground post cards with John McGraw pictured in the upper right hand corner. Some have white borders and some are borderless such as yours. These were issued from the early 1910s (your card) through the 1932 season when Mc Graw spent his final year as manager of the Giants. I consider this to be a John McGraw card since he is on it! 😊 All-in-all, a great card to have. Great story on your post card. Yes! Fascinating stuff.
Fantastic video Dan! Awesome job on your research! Just an awesome connection between the two cards. Of course now I am currently down the rabbit hole of prewar cigar cards.
Tremendous Dan. A truly fascinating connection. Thanks for this one. Made my day.
Wow! Great deep dive. I love this stuff. I appreciate the amount of time and research that went into it.
Very cool, Dan! I love tracking down stories about the things we collect, and postcards seem like the perfect item to do that with. Great episode!

I lived 13 years in Evansville and never knew this story. Fascinating! I want one of these cards.
