Tom Taylor putting respect on Dick Grayson's name makes me happy.
Love seeing Nightwing get the respect he deserves. We come a long since the days when DC editorial trying to find a way to kill Nightwing
Its crazy that DC has way more legacy characters and have been using them for longer than most us have been alive yet Marvel knows how to push their legacy characters better. Especially since most of the most popular Marvel legacy characters were created in the past 15 years.
If Marvel had the slightest idea how to push their legacy characters better than DC, they'd have put the respect Dick Grayson's earned on Peter Parker's name, years ago. Instead, Peter still gets treated like Charlie Brown and Spider-Man's the "comic relief" of the MCU. Superman and Wonder Wonder offered Nightwing the opportunity to become a Leader because they view him as an adult... Cap and Iron Man would never consider Spider-Man as Leader of The Avengers because they see him as a wise cracking, immature kid.
DCs done more to progress Dick Grayson's character development in 100 issues than Marvel's done with Peter in 60 years.

From Dr.Doom, Blade, Magneto, Luke Cage, Both Spidermen, The younger Avengers members, Wolverine all been leaders roles to a groups now.
They always been solo ass solo characters for years & years. Marvel put them in leadership & got things done. Some Avengers some not. Not all have be in Cap or Ironman Avengers team. When you have other bigger & crazy as teams like X-Men, Elementals out there. Hell Marvel even put in characters in games you wouldnt even know or might heard of yet like in the Marvel vs Capcom series team ups. Also character development? Peter Parker Spiderman always been push for years, decades. From being solo act to finally be a leader to a team of other spiders. Hell Peter Parker is now a dad. Along side with Migel or now Miles getting the shine in the movies now. If anything DC hasnt push none of they character in to spotlight like Marvel does. Specially in the heroes live-action movie department. Black Adam, Joker & Wonder Women, Suicide Squad? They finally got around to the Justice League movie after Marvel finally did they team up movies
Only thing I think truly DC has push for they character development was Young Justice show. Then drop the ball again. Coulda had so many spin-off with some them characters to other shows or something. like did with Teen Titans. Also enter the spider-verse to across spdier-vers is nothing but the legacy movie of spidermen & women characters from past to present so I know trollin. Hell they put all the live-action movies spidermen togethere & did the meme. When DC gonna give the DC fans Black Lightning, Blue Beetle or Static Shock movies fans want to see. Or maybe another Constantine movie maybe a Court of owls story movie.. Hmmm Green Lantern HAHA! Nah you gonna get another same ol batman movie spotlight for sure HAHA! But good for Nightwing finally getting the shine in the DC comics. About damn time

He’s always pushed dick to be better than him because unlike Bruce nightwing inspires hope and not fear, they’re both 2 sides of the same coin but even Bruce would admit nightwing is the better side. As Bruce put it to Diana, he doesn’t want dick to become him
Nightwing has been my favorite bat book since Batman new 52. Grayson has accomplished what Bruce never could with his billions...and he did it With an optimistic attitude and a PHAT ASS to boot. 😂

He is pretty much the face of DC and the leader in the Young Justice Animated series.
Pretty much the only thing I’m reading is Nightwing and DareDevil these days, and I find that hilarious considering the similarities. It means so much to see Dick finally get the shine he deserves, not just because he’s cool, lovable, and a Bat Fam Stabple. He’s one of the most important characters in comics in GENERAL. He represents time. Progress. Development. Legacy. Something comics are often afraid of showing these days (Hey, One More Day). One of my favorite things about the character is how no matter where in the multiverse, it’s implied Dick Graysonis and always will be a good person that people love (until the live action Titans show ruined the streak).
As he was recapping the issue, I was remembering the Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev or Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark run. But Tom needs to step up the game to match those classic issues.
Bro Daredevil and Nightwing are my favorites too! Wish they could do a crossover issue but that’s impossible now 😪
This is amazing glad to see Nightwing done being disrespected (especially in animated movies). Remember DC he’s a tactician, expert acrobatic fighter, Kind but NOT soft. I've been a Titans fan since The New Teen Titans #1 in 1980. I remember how shocked I was when Dick Grayson shed his Robin identity to become NIGHTWING! I remember thinking " Nightwing... I like that name!"
Have you been reading all the issues since? That would be impressive, if so. There were some pretty bad run… hahaha…. But so good stuff too. But they haven’t gotten the best talents on the book.
@@brianng8350 I refused to read the team led by The Atom! I've read a few of Young Justice books the new 52 book was abysmal (good art though) The Wolfman/ Perez era was/is the PINNACLE! I'll peek at the new book. IMO the Titans should be just as popular as the X-MEN! FULL STOP!

More like the X-Men. They have more of a family vibe than the Avengers or JL. And they're about bringing in the younger generation to train and whatnot. They just aren't exclusive to mutants lol. Even back in the 80s, Titans and X-Men were DC and Marvel's best selling books and had crossovers with each other.

Nightwing has shown himself to be a leader for a long time now. I would even say he will be the first member of the New Trinity of DC. He replaces Batman, I wonder who will replace Superman & Wonder Woman 🤔

If we are Talking Legacy character replacements for Superman and Wonder Woman as the primary trinity characters then Superman will either be replaced by John Kent(was pushed really hard before dark crisis as the new Superman) or Supergirl which has always been a pretty solid character. Wonder women it would likely be Donna Troy. BUT there is a chance the new Trinity aren't all legacy characters. So for example the New Trinity could be Nightwing, Cyborg, and Harley Quinn 3 very popular fan favorite characters. Cyborg I believe is getting his own comic book run so that could help. Harley and Nightwing have both already have successful projects/comic book runs so from a marketing perspective I could see this kind of outcome.
Kara or Connor and Donna or Cassie. Jon is mid and Yara is cool, but they need more time and experience imo
I always thought of Titans’ version of the trinity to be Nightwing, Flash, and Donna Troy. They were both part of the original Fab Five and the New Teen Titans, which will be the new roster for 2023.
@@DragonTrainer201 Actually, the original big 3 original members were Kid flash, Grayson and Garth with Donna not officially joining until way later in issue 60. We’re going by how it originally starts, like Batman, Superman then Wonder Woman, those 3 above should honestly count as the Titans Trio.

Well Wally is back as the main flash in his own ongoing (Ditto for Cass) and I remember reading that SHAZAM/Billy Batson will be getting his own title with Mark Waid writing it and Dan Mora drawing it.
Far cry from the days when D.D. kept trying to kill off all legacy characters. I grew up reading the (New Teen) Titans from back when Dick was still Robin. I remember when he donned the Nightwing name/costume. Glad to see DC finally give the character the respect that is so deserved.
I loved that era of New Teen Titans alongside the drug specials and X-Men x-over. It’s what really got me into comics when I was a kid.

It was nice seeing Scott McDaniel on Nightwing again. He was the artist that really pushed him into the character I love to this day.
with "Titans", the name ALONE evokes a sense of myth, and of greatness - something i always thought their book/s always deserved. TBH, "Justice League (of America, et al) just sounds like an old excuse to put heavyweights into one book... which it was. THOSE characters can always stand on their own, carrying their own titles, but making Titans a flagship for DC would certainly push those classic characters into the mainstream... more than Teen Titans Go! has, anyway.

Nightwing has always been upfront in the DC universe. This is why he's been one of my favorite DC characters.
Seriously, is today the day that Batman told Robin? The day he truly became a model of leadership. Nightwing was my favorite character from the very beginning, and seeing his progress is indescribable...

As someone who has just gotten into DC comics recently (it's been a long time coming) I am super excited to see content like this that is beginner friendly, so to say, and also so informative!! I am super excited to pick this series up and I can't wait to see what happens with the titans.
I was so happy reading this issue! I have been hoping that they would bring back the Titans, and DC answered! Finally Nightwing gets the spotlight.

Just got into comics this winter for the first time since I was a kid, got nightwing 99 with spawn on the cover and then just got nightwing 100 to find this out! So sick. That and the ninja turtles power rangers series are literally throwing me back in nostalgia
I think with this, you can now have Stormwatch, The Authority, Wildcats, maybe even a Shadow Cabinet coexisting without a Justice League. Obviously with the Titans, the JSA & the other teams of the DCU.
Hoping the Titans will finally rock. This could be great.

Dick Grayson is a better leader for the next generation of the DC comics heroes until DC retcons it.
In a sense, the Justice League were the ORIGINAL legacy heroes, successors to the Justice Society. Certainly, after "Flash of Two Worlds" in 1961, they were, and much more so after *_Crisis on Infinite Earths_* in 1985, when the JLA and the JSA existed on the same Earth.
All the more reason that the Titans should have gradually moved up as the next generation of heroes, as John Byrne implied when he made the equivalent of the Titans in his *_Generations_* miniseries, set on Earth-38, the Justice League of America.
Nightwing gets plenty of respect, it's just haters ignore it

Lol. Why do they ALWAYS makes the juniors physically smaller in statue than the originals. Robin, wonder girl, kid flash. Super boy. Red arrow. Even Supergirl. Why couldnt they mature into adulthood being as tall and equally proportionate as Batman, WW, Clark, Green Arrow, and Barry?

Good recap of issue 100 and Tom Taylor’s run so far. I love the run, but the pacing is pretty poor. Out of 20 plus issues, the whole Heartless story hasn’t been resolved and they just faced each other like 2 or 3 times. And when Bruno Redundo is not drawing the comic, he is sorely missed. I liked the Batman moment as well as interaction with Mayor/sis and Batgirl. I really want this comic to be Dick and Babs book. Tom Taylor makes them a cute couple with heart and comedy and they make a good team.
You are right about everything. I hope we can see more action. But Taylor really gave Nightwing the value he deserved. I am grateful for that.
DC would have made Nightwing as popular as Batman but because his name is Richard he fell out of fashion quickly.Let me explain he had the VERY COMMON 1940s shorthand nickname "Dick" which fell strongly out of fashion when it was used as a pejorative and as a common slang term for.....fellas you know by the mid-1970s. This is the genesis of his downfall. Had the original creator named him Tommy, Johnny, Jimmy, Brad, or Terry most modern comicbook writers would want to use him. But he was saddled with a name that is considered poison by writers. This is why they tried to rename him Rick at one point. Like most people alive today, I have never met a person in real life who uses Dick as the shortened version of Richard. I would think this would make Greyson unique, right? A tough guy who is proud of his uniquely uncommon old school name. But with a silly name like Dick DC comics could use it to be a plot point to make greyson lose his cool and get a bit ruthless when villains like joker uses it to make him angry or use it as a derogatory jab at him. An Example would be the Joker calls Nightwing a Dick and he loses it. Maybe let it be something that really gets on his nerves when they use it in the slang way as disrespect nightwing. But nope in our hyper aware and overly childish society Dick Greyson is cancer to comicbook writers and I have always thought it was his name that they hate. Because honestly Nightwing is the heart and soul of DC comics. Take injustice, they killed Dick because if he were to remain alive he was the only person who could get Clark and Bruce to sit down and settle their differences without any real bloodshed, but if he isn't around the entire world burns to the ground between Bruce and Clarks egos. He is the successor to Bruce should they ever kill off Bruce Wayne and the only one of the Bat family Bruce considers an Equal and not one of his children. Nightwing is Batman's brother and if Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are the DC trinity then Nightwing is the number 4 guy on the roster that the Trinity go to for advice or to talk to when they need a friend. He is the highest form of moral virtue in the DC universe and always does the right thing no matter the cost. So I'm a huge fan of nightwing if you couldn't tell but I understand why they don't use Dick Greyson and its just silly that DC have never capitalized on him as the heart and soul of their entire DC family of heroes! It's just so strange that it took them 40 years to realize this isn't a problem for the fans of DC comics and especially fans of Nightwing.
