I see no other way to do it. You have to turn the crankshaft and camshaft to get the piston to top dead center to check the valve clearance. Because of the centrifugal clutch you cannot place the transmission in gear, turn the rear wheels and turn the crankshaft. The crankshaft will not move using this method. Therefore you have to pull the clutch cover and spin the clutch on the engine side by hand. Hopefully that makes sense to you.
Can you add a pic of your sticker I've looked on my 2021 an it's doesn't have the sticker any where 😢 the manual found on line says go see dealer for valve clearance check

Do you HAVE to pull the big cover JUST TO ADJUST the valves??

It should be .06-.09mm for intake and exhaust clearance.
