You set a great example of how to respect the outdoors. Your provision for protecting the pine forest from your fire should be commended! Great video as ever! Sorry you were defeated by your massive sausage..
@@simonablokeinthewoods speaking of, what wood stove and "mat" are you using? I want to use my alcohol burner more but I also live in a place with very dry pine forests.. :)
Rather you than me, I'll stick to the Vespa and small campervan,... that's primitive. Good idea a beef sausage, no food poisoning if it's undercooked. Nice to see how others live, we take bikes on the back of the camper keeps me and my 70 year old bones moving. Happy days...is that hat glued on?
Thank you Simon for this serene bike ride and camp in such a beautiful forest. Watching you pack up your gear is like a medtaion in itself. My kind of ASMR lol. Well this is me, smiling now. 😊
Hey Simon, next time you cook some wors try it by adding water first about halfway up the wors, let that boil it a bit both sides this will reduce the amount of fat lost and after the water boils away you can crisp up the casing with the residue fat meaning no need for oil 👌
👍👍👍 .. nice, thanks for sharing. Those Carbon Felt Mats come in very handy .. I take and use mine everywhere. 'Boerewors' .. yummy 😊. Traditionally eaten with 'Mielie Pap en Sous' (Maize Porridge with an Onion and Tomato Gravy). The 'Pap' normally in two formats, 'Stywe' or 'Krummel' (Stiff or Crumbly). Already cooked Polenta makes for a reasonable substitute in the Outdoors and a Tin of Onion and Tomato mix (with added Herbs, Garlic and Spices to taste) closes the deal. I suspected that the Wors was going to be too much in one sitting. Cooked, it keeps well and would have gone down nicely the following morning for breakfast .. even just in a hot dog roll with chutney. Simplicity has a beauty of it's own 😊. Take care ..
I was sitting here at work, wishing I was off at the lake with my husband or just home in general - and this popped up! So peaceful and relaxing to watch. I always enjoy your posts, Simon! Take care and be safe out there! 👍🧡😊🙏
Nordic summer stinks pretty bad, no one loves a fire more than me but I really don't like that stuff and I don't find it works for me anyway. I really like that hammock and I don't blame you for not lighting a fire. 👍👍
I just went on a weekend camping & fishing trip with some friends & my cousin & just made food something like this . Here in the states we have Rice-A-Roni & you can get it in different flavors . I pick up a beef Rice-a-Roni with one big onion , a big green pepper, a kielbasa a large one , a splash of duck sauce , a splash of soy sauce, a pinch of garlic powder , & some black pepper . Turned that into a dinner that me & my cousin split . Later my cousin made a homemade peach cobbler for dessert in a Dutch oven & had a big old heaping scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to go with it . We both were night fishing & eating at the same time , great times .
I could not agree more. Heck, it was calming just watching the videos he made in his backyard during the pandemic lockdown. (We were stuck sitting in our houses too at the same time, here in the U.S.) Simon has such a way of connecting with his viewers. He makes you feel as if you're sitting right there, in camp. Simon, if you're reading this, your videos are a blessing to many folks.
Lord have mercy!!! WHAT A SAUSAGE!!! Man-O-Man, that looked soooo good. Heh, heh, ha, ha…I watched you cook while I’m trying to fast. So far so good. I’m staying strong. Thanks for taking us along. Great location, great kit and great food, a nice ride on a beautiful day, all add up to a mighty fine camp. Simon, you’re the best. Thanks again. Kentucky 2d watching…now, a year later, in my forever, retirement home, in East Tennessee. That AMOK hammock looks comfortable, especially covered with the bigger tarp. The carbon welders cloth seems just the ticket for protecting the forest floor. You’ve moved onto the e-bike by now. I wonder how it compares to your nice mountain bike, with the big tires. Beautiful pine forest, thanks for sharing…from East Tennessee.
The night gig is finished, money to cover expenses transferred, and ready to go. OH, wait, two more days before weekend reset time. That is not so bad. Simon's videos always fill the void.
Simon, I love how easy and comfortable you made that overnight look, and what a great night's sleep you got. That's what camping should be. I recently spent my first night in a hammock, and to my great surprise, I slept better than ever in a tent, even better than I had indoors in a month. And as an added bonus, when I got up once, was greeted by the most amazing sky full of stars. Love the shots of the tree canopy.
Seeing you walk though the tall weeds and ferns. All I can say is TICKS !! Went out earlier this season in Michigan and was covered with six witching minutes. Been in the woods all my life in Michigan and this is the first time in my life I have ever had ticks on me. Something has changed .
Hello there another great video. I really liked the hammock and tarp set up. That massive sausage looked good sausage for evening meal sausage for breakfast its going to be a few visits to the Weightwatchers club for you. Anyhow good viewing all the best Cheers take care. B. K
Great video Simon 👍. A Dame shame Mrs Maggie come along with you 😕, she would of finished off that chunk sausage 🤣🤣. Can't wait to see, your next Adventure with Andy 🤘. Keep doing what you do, lot's of 💗 from across the pond B.C 🇨🇦 .
Great video as usual. I bet your mummy would have made you eat the rest of that sausage for breakfast and I think I would get seasick in the hammock. Thanks again.
Just back from coastal Norfolk, my most favourite place in Britain and I will be returning at the end of September. Love your content Simon keep them coming please and thank you so much.
When I saw the Boerewors, I thought it might be too much to eat it all at once 😁, you must try some Biltong too if you're butcher is making it, it's nice to snack on 😉
Thank You again Simon for another Simple Easy and Relaxing Videe! Dinner Looked So Simple and as You said " way to Good and way to Much! ". Breakfast Had My Mouth Watering! Thanks Again
If Maggie was with you she would have left over sausage. Yes! It's nice just to sit a long period of time to calm nerves, triane your trouble thoughts but it's nicer when your in the forest with two brewskis
So awesome to see our national treasured boerewors 'sausage' is being enjoyed so much. That looks like a proper 'spekwors' or fatsausage that extra bits of minced fat added. Hope you get to enjoy that more often. It's the best 'sausage' in the world I think. Been to several European countries who brag about their sausage. But can't find one better than the traditional spekwors. Glad you enjoyed. Normally it's eaten by hand or on bread rolls. And even tasty then next day.
That cup is no where near big enough for morning coffee at our age. Nice biking through the local villages, you picked a good time for the roads their getting so busy these days esp with all the harvest and fire engines. Still probably less than if the local AD plant was up and running lol nimbies. Big up to Banham butchers always good great variety of sausages.
I love my Trangia. From back in the day. Before my accident I used to be a panel beater. Yes a female panel beater. Luckily I have all my welding equipment from back in the day. Having disabilities I can only do it in the garden these days but the welding apron and gloves don’t off come in handy. I put this in a comment for a tip for people if they need stuff sometimes camping equipment is more expensive just look like a welding blanket or an apron and the gauntlets come in handy as well not just picking up hot pots. But for dealing with my inherited vicious cat from my Nana. I put those bad boys on every time I have to flea him. That pinwheel sausage looks absolutely amazing. I need to buy that thing. My collie and I would much enjoy it. Interesting that you took a UK legal knife this time. No I know that you are on foreign territory.
Great video, as usual! I don’t usually comment but when you pulled out yet another sausage for your breakfast after that huge one the night before, I just burst out laughing. 😂. Looking forward to videos of your Scandinavian adventure. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
I judt noticed you havnt got your bike pump attatched. Just incase you dont know, you can have a bottle carrier and bike pump on at once if you just place the pump holder in between the bottle carrier and frame. Screw right through it all
I've been watching your videos for 2 weeks now and this is so cool. I sent some of your videos to my dad and we are going to do a bike packing trip now. I am course what you do for work I'm thinking gardener or builder
Great video Simon, yes well done on the ‘no fire’ choice - I also liked the helmet to hat changeover! Smoothly done sir! Another shout out to Banham Butchers - great stuff there.
This is awesome, Simon! Especially the bikepacking part. Showing all the gear you can take on a bike. Displaying a minimalist style. The bicycle being the most generic sub terrain vehicle. 2 wheels powered by the rider with basic fundamental style. This just shows how easy it is to live off a bicycle. Such beautiful landscape too! Always enjoy your videos Simon. Thank you friend!!
I'm glad to see that you shared your leftover sausage and rice with the animals. It's a shame there wasn't a big stump close by, for you to have left it as a peace offering for Bigfoot. Hahaha (Very peaceful looking camp. Thanks for taking us along.)
Lekker Boerewors, mooi man Simon. Much love from Durban South Africa bro.
Slick transition from helmet to hat good sir. 😂😂😂
Great sleight of hand swapping that Helmet for the hat at 2:10 :-)
We will catch him sooner or later. lol. 😂😂😂
