@Ayden Enoch i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
dam this is gunna be harder than i thought lol , please tell him shareing his experiance was much appreciated by many , and thanks to you for the great series!
... Cool Series.. I'm not really planning to breed or even keep Discus, but its good information and in this hobby more knowledge is a benefit to your own fish...oh and when I get the "Discus Fever" ... they will be Stendker Discus from Hans.. Thanks John
My friend has a pair of red turquois in a 55 gallon tank, and it is not that much work to raise discus. Yeah he does more partial water changes, He feeds them freshly hatched brine shrimp for two weeks, but otherwise the small fish start eating the discus mix that my friend prepares by himself after just a couple of weeks. Hans keeps them in 20 gallon tanks, and yes that will create a lot more work due to quickly changing water quality.
Have a red pigeon and cobalt starting to pair off (I think).... Does anyone know if they can spawn at 5 inches and do i need a cone or will my large ceramic easter island work?
Hey everyone i have young discus pair they laid egg on side mirror but after few days later the were gone or eaten by discus what to do with them i really need help pliz help me out
Hello I am not able to keep the PH in my breeding tank stable at 6.5. It will change within 24 hours. All the eggs will be white in no time!Any help greatly appreciated.SHould i use RO water?
Discus need soft and acidic water. If you are using only tap water and your ph and hardness is not in your desired area, you can change temporarily. I would switch to RO.
Can you tell me what should be the water parameters for discus and TDS level ... right now I’m using RO water and adding seachem replenish and discuss buffer for ph but my TDS is shooting to 350ppm
I have a breeding pair,6 inches blue pigeon male and a 5 inches red Turquoise female that have been spawning continuously every 5 to 8 days for about a month and a half now. What happened was the eggs sometimes hatch and a couple of days fry disappear or eggs few times didn't hatch and they turned white and ended up at the bottom of the bare tank base.I can only assume that my tank conditions are in top maintenance level with partial water change every other day( 2 times a week) and my discus appear in excellent shape and active.Still I am trying to gather some great ideas on how to manage a successful batch of breeds. Please to hear from anyone with suggestiions.
So since it wasn't covered in the video.. Does anyone kno what exact temperature the water should be at for breeding? Does anyone know roughly the exact water perameters of Hans fish tanks?
+Grant Taylor the cones you can buy off ebay they are made by company in europe JBL discus cones, the screen is made of a "chicken mesh screen" you can buy those at Homedepot, you just have to cut it to size you want and then what I do, I just close it up with some zip ties.
Discus are flexible 5.8 to 6.5 would be okay even a neutral 7.0 your main focus should be having clean water, if ph is your concern cure some driftwood and get an r.o. unit
+Ratul Mukherjee ive just had a spawn from a blue diamon and a marlboro red. Was theyr 1st spawn so not very sucessful. Maybe i was lucky. My breeding knowlge is 0
my discus has spawned on the filter in my community tank i wasn't expecting it. I don't even know who did it. Obviously 1 is fanning them so i presume that's the female. I think i will need to find a way to separate them from the other fish.

Ginny yes use ro/di water and adjust the ph to where you want it in this case 6.5 is a good start for discus
Beautiful Fish! Thanks for sharing the video
Those are beautiful discus, awesome video once again john
Thank you. Very informative.
Is that galvinized hardware cloth covering the cone? I guess there's not an issue with the zink leeching into the water?
Did you add the wire cage after they laid eggs or was it on there the whole time?
I assume after
this is really making me want to get discus.
Awesome series on discus.
Really useful video , I appreciated , I got some benefit and info
how much stress coat are you adding per water change? and would this help the parents fry?
nice video, where to get those cones which have the wire around?
can someone tell me the size of those breeding tanks? they seem small!
Loved this video

Once they start to hatch

Do you know how I can get those breeding cones and screens?

Great Job!!!!!!!!
I have a breeding pair of discus fish but eat the eggs and also what is the ph and temp of the water supposed to be.
Uhm you have discus but dont know anything About them ?
I um found about bugs they spawn on driftwood and ro spawn you need RO water and I am 11
+Oscar Suarez i wonder who sold you that
now at this point do you still feed them
👍👍
What kind of discus are these in this video?
Marlboro red discus
can anyone tell which ones the male and which ones the female ?
Moe Mubarak the male is the larger one without the white on its fins.
The one that lays th egg is the female. :-)
You can tell from the shape of their forehead one is round and one is more defined
So how many for a 55 gal
so let me get this straight..these are not cycled tanks, you keep water parameters in check through water changes only. Correct?
whats his water parameters?
🐟🐟🐟🐠🐠🐠🐡🐡🐡
I dont suppose you know the pH of Hans water do you mate?
Discus are flexible 5.8 to 6.5 would be okay even a neutral 7.0 your main focus should be having clean water, if ph is your concern cure some driftwood and get an r.o. unit
He has ph 7.5. Uses straight tap water
