    How to incorporate variable Temperature in linear static analysis

  • @emmanuelvassilakis5630

    Nice Swapnil! As a suggestion, you can apply this method to the bracket - bushing problem to expand the bushing hole under a specific thermal load and on the next step of the analysis install the bushing in place to study the effects of hole contraction on the contact surface of the bushing. This will be closer to the real life practices for bushings installations.

      @Aeroswap  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Emmanuel ! That is a great idea. I will work on a similar case soon. I think it will have to be a transient analysis as the cooling/contraction will take place gradually.

    It would be very helpful, if you could upload a tutorial for the new GUI, because in the new version this tutorial can not be done.

    Sir, where can I get anisotropic material properties values required to be filled with MAT9 card image(G11,G22,G33 etc & A1,A2,A3) for aluminum alloy , cast iron etc.

      There are several material databases online. Just search for the specific material you are looking for and you will find the information.
      I do not know about any particular website to search material data.

      Hi Suresh, this can be done using a 'transient thermal analysis'. I have already posted a tutorial ahout this. Please check the 'Thermal/CFD playlist' on this channel to watch that tutorial.

    What will bey the difference if we apply temperature from constraints panel and from temperature panel ?

    • @Aeroswap

      Hello Chaitanya,
      Both the methods are equivalent. You will get the same results regardless of how the temperature is applied. Feel free to use whichever method is suitable for you!

      To add this card, go to- Analysis >> control cards
      You will find all the control cards listed here in alphabetical order. Just click on any control card to add it to the model.
      Then you can exit this panel and use the Entity editor window to set up the card as shown in the video.

      All options are provided in the global output request card. If you are facing difficulty in finding these options, leave it.
      Optistruct outputs all results in H3D format by default so it will not be a big issue.

    Hi, Good presentation. Why did you scale the model 1000 times in negative. Having units of meter is not sufficient ? instead of scaling. I did not understand. Could you please explain

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! Hypermesh is a unit-neutral environment. You can use any unit system as long as it is consistent. For this example, the material properties that I had received were in (N, m, kg, s) unit system. As the geometry was created in mm, I had to scale it by factor of 1000 to convert it to m.
      A second approach would have been to get the material properties in (N, mm, tonne, s). Then scaling of geometry is not required.
      I hope this answers your question!

    Hi Aeroswap
    I really apricate your work. I am performing thermal stress analysis on different component, which are having non linear contacts, bolt pretensions and pressure loads. while performing the thermal stress analysis in HM 2019.1, I am a getting an error as below.
    A fatal error has been detected during input processing:

    *** ERROR # 4734 ***
    Surface-to-surface CONTACT 1 is not supported for heat transfer
    analysis.

    *** Run terminated because of error(s) in the input data.
    Please tell me how fix this issue.

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The type of contact you are using is not compatible with thermal analysis. I do not remember the exact contact definition which needs to be used for thermal analysis right now.
      Please refer the Optistruct manual to resolve this issue. Looks like a minor error, wont affect your analysis setup much.
      Just an extra info, the Altair website has free ebooks in the Training and resources section. There is an ebook for 'Thermal Analysis using Optistruct'. It is excellent to learn this topic. I would suggest you to go ahead and download that ebook, it will help a lot in your project.

    Thank you, rock on man !

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked the videos Michele!
      There is a checkbox next to every dof in the constraints panel. If you see a tick, it means that the dof is constrainted (motion restricted along that dof). By default, all dofs are constrained in HM. You can deselect the unwanted dofs for creating the required constraints in the model. By check dof, I simply mean that you should make sure that all dof have the tick mark!
      I hope this clears you doubt.

      @@Aeroswap Hello, if I create different thermal loads ( as QBDY1), to put them together should I use "LOADADD" card or something else ? I keep getting "ERROR 23 - SID 18 used on Case Control data DLOAD is missing in bulk data", where SID18 is the loadadd card.
      Thank you for your efforts

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you performing a transient thermal analysis? If yes, you can combine multiple trasient load entries (TLOAD) using a DLOAD card. Then assign the DLOAD in loadstep.
      If you are talking about steady state thermal as shown in this video, just put all the thermal loads in same collector. No need to use LOADADD.

    • @micheleromano9371
      @micheleromano9371 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AeroswapSo sorry to bother again. If I apply every single load separately, everyone of them have its own influence but If I use DLOAD to apply the loads at the same time, I can see only the influence of the first one.

    Can we do it in radioss?

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an implicit linear static analysis. Radioss is an explicit dynamic solver. So Optistruct is the right choice for this type of analysis.

    I would like to ask you about the ftype =3 meaning and mainly the convection coefficient H=20, is it given or should I calculate it before coz Igot stuck in this point? thank you very much.

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello,
      Ftype=3 is the setting which specifies that we want to enter the value of convective coefficient manually. I used 20W/m^2K as it falls in the standard range of values for air.
      Feel free to change this value, and all other material characteristics according to your problem. As this analysis was not based on an actual experiment, I have used standard values for all parameters.
