Because I’m the only one in my company with the license and it’s too much bullshit for the money. If I wanted to focus on it and do it all day every day it would be worth it, but it still doesn’t come close to the money that I can make with plumbing. In Texas Backflow is not like plumbing at all. You have to register in every city and it cost like $100 for every fucking one and there’s like 1000 cities in DFW. Each city has its own rules and its own different databases . Not worth the hassle. If they could come up with the statewide system, I would be happy to do it again, but I can’t compete with the big companies because I have to pay $100 to register in these cities that I may only test one device, one time. if I stick that hundred dollar registration fee onto the invoice, I’m just ripping the people off and charging them way more than they would get charged by the Backflow companies that only do Backflow and are already registered in that city. I just can’t provide a good enough service to my customers to make me a good choice for Backflow I guess.
