I worked in this project while with Berjaya. And you’re right that this is Mahathir pet project. Without him, Malaysia will still be in 70s. He has great idea to advance Malaysia. I have never seen other PMs to hve generous vision that elevates Malaysia. Badawi did not contribute anything nor has the “malu apa” PM. TRX is not very iconic globally
For me....I've got not much praise for this hotel. It is very very very touristy. It's just same old same old hotel from the early 2000s.....average room, facilities , food and what not. Maintenance also is the weak point.....just like the majority of the older hotels in this are/from the same era when it opened. Only good thing was the snacks @ check in which is good. That aside, great video by the way!

went there years ago before Covid. Personal feeling, not worth staying over nite. My room was old, toilet was not clean, rusty everywhere. The only positive point was the view from my room. Foodwise, much much below par. every places and facilties can be covered within a day. Decided to leave after my breakfast.
Some of the buildings, like Heliconia, have been refurbished, so, still ok. But yeah the older, un-refurbished ones like Camellia are not too far off what you've described.

Please do NOT ever glorify the old horse. This is a business decision with intent to obtain a casino license.... Do your homework
