I bought this but think it's more advanced than my skill. So glad to find your video 😊

Sweet dress! I am not getting a maid vibe, but rather just a demure pretty summer dress, maybe even vintage. The cap sleeves are so cute. And the piping is great. Nicely done!! Congrats on sewing with little ones in the house, can't be easy! Fun video!😃

thank you so much for this video! my copy of the pattern has a misprint for a whole other design on page 2 so I’ve been so hesitant to start without the first four instructions… But your calm instructions and lack of hesitation to change things up (like I want to) really reassured me to just start tonight. Bless you :)

I'm glad it was helpful! Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry the pattern had these issues for you. I'm glad you were able to get through it

Thank you for your honest review. I have this pattern and still haven't made it because of the concerns you mentioned. Now I can tweak things to have sucess.

I agree with Vivmon. You don't look like a maid at all, it could be the 100% cotton and side opening that are giving you that feeling. Perhaps you shouldn't wear it unless you are cleaning your own house. That said, I liked seeing your process for this make. I have the same pattern but haven't made it yet. I don't feel that secure in wrap dresses so I only have two. The one I made for wearing around the house and another I made for work that has multiple snaps in strategic places. Happy stitching.

I was browsing patterns at Joann's today and this is one I liked. I am glad I found you making this as it gives me ideas. I love that fabric. I also like sleeves but I was thinking I wanted the collar but now I'm not sure. You may have a valid point it is too bulky.

It is a good pattern. The collar looks fantastic. I'll probably do a version with the collar in the future.

Thank you for detailed video. You obviously took time in all steps and details in making it. Nice clean finished work!
I somewhat agree with you about the “vibe” of dress in that the finished garment appears to be “uniform wear”. I think several factors play into this. The fabric you chose should have been a bit softer which would have given the dress a less conformed appearance. You also chose the straight shirt view and I think if you had made the fuller skirt version it would have also given you a softer less structured look to your dress.
And lastly, a lighter colored fabric as you chose only added to that “vibe”. A medium to bright colored solid or print would have completely changed the whole look of this dress! Just my personal and professional opinion as a long time seamstress/sewest.
I think that’s why sewing your own apparel is so much fun; It’s an adventure… sometimes you hit it on the mark and sometimes you don’t.
Thanks again for good video and happy sewing!

I love the bodice of this dress. I think the fuller skirt would have been more flattering for your shape (I’m also an apple and I find the fuller skirt gives the illusion of a smaller waist) I’m planning on making variation A in wax print for my next project. Thank for the great video it’s given me lots of ideas. 💡

Tea, I think it is the pattern, the skirt needs to be more full. Maybe you could cut it into a peplum blouse? Either way, lovely work.

Thank you! It's interesting that people still watch this video. This was one of the first youtube videos I've posted, and I was so nervous to post it. I'm glad I did because people have enjoyed watching it, and I look back and learn so much about myself. Thanks for commenting

I really like the print and the pattern of the dress. I agree, however, that the fabric could have had more heft and drape to upgrade the look. But I think it’s really cute and you fit it to your needs such as the bow instead of a belt and wider sleeves to better flatter your arms. I wish more sewists would take as you did. Showing the pattern pieces, what to watch out for and the final reveal. I’m glad I found your channel.

Oh thank you so much, Francine! That really means a lot to me. Thank you for watching! Please feel free to watch my latest video and vote on which vintage pattern I should make next! I would love your input! Thank you!

I think you would like this dress with the flaired skirt and a really rich jewel tone would be pretty with your skin. I was wondering what the positive ease is for this pattern.

Lovely! You speak so soft I can hardly hear you. Anywho... I love the fabric. I also have arms larger than the rest of my body.

Renee Meyers I apologize! I guess I had no idea I was soft spoken. I’ll be sure to turn my volume up in future videos! Thanks for watching.

I one hundred percent agree with you I did not like the style of the dress on you. Or the color print it did not complement your skin complexion at all. I feel like it was too stiff . It didn’t flow right it made you look to box like. But I lovely your sew nice and neat . With the right farbric you well rock that dress view B was a better choice for your body frame. Just my opinion.

I wanted to see how to put the sleeves in and you skipped that completely. You didnt show how to actually sew any part of the dress.

Hi Tracey! This wasn't a sew a-long. I'm sorry that you thought it was. The video is titled Pattern Review and Sewing Progress. I try not to deceive with click bait titles. So this video is exactly a pattern review and vlog of what i sewed, not a sew a-long. Have a good day. Blessings!
