      in 1 word: "explaining".
      there's nothing wrong with it. That's how people who know things, make other people know abot said things.

      like pccalcio said, thats exactly what explaining something is. How many people would have no idea what was going on with out a simple explanation?

    The "host" or teacher is a good one. He gets excited about the most basic uses of these crazy machines. Yes BASIC. The awesome part is seeing how the students are so into and excited about extreme uses.
    Love it.

    Adam is always so excited about the stuff he covers in his videos, which then makes me very interested in it as well. I'd have never found out I liked so many things otherwise, but because of him, I dabbled into many fields and hobbies. Thanks for always making me want to continue to learn :)

    -"You there, explain what you're doing"
    - "Well basically, on project b code we create biological codes that allow E. coli to communicate with computer controlled liquid handlers like the one you see over there."
    "Woah woah... slow down there.... What he's saying is we can taught E. coli english and can talk to it with that box .... moving on...."
    ...
    "You Girl, explain that!" gestures vaguely
    "Well, it's a CT scanner, it's an x-ray with a detector at the back and it reconstructs the images with a radon transform"
    "Woah... Woah... Woah.... people here with their big fancy words... no one knows what a radon transform is. What she's saying is it's like a cat scan, but we don't just scan cats... we can also scan itsy bitsy fly heads."

      Thanks 8bitpineapple... I have to say out of all comments I have read - this is the best so far.
      Now to the Tested Team...
      Adam said that this is broken up in sections because people won't watch a video that is 70 minutes in length. That is crazy, I watch videos all the time that are more than an hour or even 2. I love learning, and videos like this is just so fascinating. People will never learn to have an attention span if people continue to cut everything short all the time.. When are the other parts going to be posted I wonder?... Maybe people like to have a week of rest after 10 minutes of learning???? Sorry Adam Savage, couldn't help myself LOL...

      Jasper Moore No, he was explaining what she just said. She was skipping ahead to the bellows but he wanted to make sure the audience understood what makes the machine special first.

    • @jasperalmoore

    • @jamesw6583
      @jamesw6583 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The professor is obviously overexcited and it comes off as annoying to most listening. Albeit his explanations are needed for most people to really grasp the "coolness" of the machines. It is comically ironic that you kinda did what the professor did as well. Now I don't think he was being a dick, it was more of a witty observation.

    • @jasperalmoore
      @jasperalmoore 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh, I was kind of being a dick haha, but it's true. Explanations are fine, and as you said, necessary for the average viewer. But the way he does it is so intrusive and rude. I know science people don't have the best social skills, but when you say "Explain this" then immediately cut someone off.. I don't know, maybe he was just so excited for Adam to be there that he drank one to many cups of coffee.

    To everyone beating up the professor who was giving Adam the tour, this is pretty standard fare for many professors. He wasn't being condescending, but rather he was trying to make sure the principle parts that needed explaining got covered. I could clearly see his excitement in Adam's genuine interest, so he was catering to it with explanation.

    I, too, recognized the PI (principle investigator) kept on interrupting and "dumbing down" the explanations, but, to his defence, he seems very excited and having some trouble containing himself. Also, this material is quiet complex to understand -- even with knowledge in the field -- so some of those explanations are, very much, necessary. Either way, in my opinion, this was a very interesting and well done video!

      No, it's more than we didn't want to cut down Neil's tour, but we also didn't want to upload a 70-minute video. There are four very clear sections with different groupings of machines (of differing lengths), and given stats on our channel, most people wouldn't have made it past the first or second set. We hope more people see more of the tour this way.
