    So I was all proud of myself ...69 yr old lady watched all the videos found this one especially helpful. Took everything apart and found the broken spindle rod. ( Mine looked plastic) Got a brass rod cut into 3" pieces at the local hardware store and put it all back together except for the screws in the outer casing. When I opened the plugs inside the tub and let the water flow in, I have a leak somewhere as water comes out the bottom n I just can't see where it's coming from. Tightened up the fittings twice so far and still can't seem to get it right 😢 But I'm gonna keep trying and once I get that right fingers crossed that my pump problem is solved. ( My pump wasn't coming on at all-the E 90 code was coming right on. OmG their customer service rep was absolutely horrible but I'm glad he was because I may have bought a pump I don't need :(. Update:: I firgot to put the gasket back in the motor case. Leak fixed! Pump fixed!! I am a happy Nona!! Thanks so much!!!!

    On my own and in a panic, I found your video and was able at 75 to sort out the problem, without picking up the phone for help. I didn't have to dismantle the pump housing. But I went through your other instructions, reset and it started. I was glad to see your feline supervisor was happy with your work! Thank you

    What has always worked for me so far with the E90 is to change the filters. After I change the filters, I unplug the pump and plug it back in. I do not always buy new filters. I save the old ones and soak them in bleach. Then I hit them good with the shower head and hot water. Some come out good as new while others still look bad, so I throw them away if I am convinced they will not come clean. However, this video is informational as well because I have read that the E90 error message is not always simply that the filters are dirty. Thank you for taking the time to show us the alternative method of correcting the E90

    • @elixis2847
      @elixis2847 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bingo!! Its the damn filters and you don't gotta buy new ones pressure wash and if you really feel it drop in 2h in filter cleaner. Also my hair gets stuck in the plastic housing and that triggers the error not necessarily the filter gunk itself. My e90 is almost always triggered by hair in the plastic. When I do buy new filters I only change the pump filter with a new one and rotate them out 1 at a time. So I trigger the e90 once in awhile remove it. Continue my fun then clean the thing when done. This video is funny cuz it's so avoidable. But the older models may also have a pipe issue the tan version maybe. But the blue one is a filter issue

    • @chrisreyruiz
      @chrisreyruiz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@elixis2847 For the first year when I changed the filter that was sufficient to remove the E90 error for me. But after continued use, I ended up getting an E90 that was not resolvable by changing the filters, and I opened up my unit and was able to resolve with these steps 👍

    This is the best video I've ever found on TH-cam. The fact that you give us the insight to relube the connections and set expectations for the long screws to take a while to come loose, and prepare us to catch those little nuts... You deserve a trophy. I just replaced my impeller 🤞 hoping it does the trick. I just need to refill the water to the filter line before I can test.

    this was exactly my problem and i found a way to troubleshoot if this is also your problem! I took both filters off and took my hose and shot it in where the filter is supposed to go which simulates the pump working. The error never came up when i did this. as soon as i took the hose away the error came up. I then knew it was a pump issue. after i took it apart, sure enough my piece was broken. good luck and god help us all

    I took apart my motor - the impeller was not damaged, and the original ceramic bar in the impeller was not broken, but it was clearly 1/4" short! I'll never know if it was always that way, or if it wore down somehow. I followed other comments and bought a 1/8" brass rod at Home Depot and cut it to 3", put everything back together and it is working fine. I consider myself handy, but I would not have taken this on without the help of this video. Thank you!

    Super useful! One suggestion is to use Silicone Grease on the hose instead of Vaseline since it's touching the rubber hose and oil will degrade it. This is essential in scuba diving where you have to lubricate oil hoses and really don't want them failing!

    Wow! I really like the way this guy describes to the “inept handyman” (as I am). His speech and diction is easy to understand for my poor hearing, he describes small details like “not being magnetic”, or the nuts being glued into place, not sitting upside down “balanced”, etc...
    The small details as to “why” make it a lot easier for me to understand.
    He has obviously taken many things (working or not) apart in the past to “see how they work”.
    I am subscribing just to see how he explains “other things”.
    Sometimes I learn that I want to have someone else do it...

    Awesome finally someone who works on stuff. I found a stainless steel hinge from my boat deck build and had a .125” shaft in hinge. Pulled out 3” and cut. I will say I measured broken pieces to 2.975 and sure enough 3” was a tad too long. I could feel rubber squeezing as pushed the last 1/16” of cases together. I cut mine down to 2.985 and could still feel rubber ends bottom out. Took it to 2.985 and perfect tension on rubber. Who don’t understand thousandths that’s about half a mm. 3” will work but it’s tight.

    Super video. Thanks for making it. I've done the brass shaft repair a few times, it lasted a month the first time, then a few days, now only a few hours. I;ve ordered 2 impeller kits as per your video. However, being an engineer, I reverse engineered the pump unit, and as a poster said down below, if you pump water into the filter inlet, the E90 wont come up. So, if these impeller kits don't last, I'm going to get a small non-submersible transfer pump, around 500 gallons per hour, and branch it in to the bottom smaller hose. Thats the suction hose from the spa. 115 volt pump. There are marine ones that are 12 volt DC. That may not work. In any case, this new external pump will now bypass the factory pump and in so doing, will bypass the Error 90 code. These transfer utility pumps are available at most home centers, or tool supply like harbor freight or princess auto.

    If you don’t want to take the motor apart and try to find the right sized impeller for it, Intex does sell the full motor for replacement and it is much easier, for those less mechanical inclined. I paid $65 for the motor with shipping, while the impeller I had to return for being the incorrect size was already $20. For the extra $45 I have my 5 year old spa back up and running. This video is still very helpful in showing you how to remove the filter pump motor to begin if you do decide to do this.

    Very impressive vid for a frustrating design flaw in this Spa which I also own. Following your instructions, I got the motor out and sure enough the original ceramic impeller shaft was broken. Ordered one of the impellers in your link, and then ordered 2 more of another that had a user comment that it worked for our exact model SPA. Unfortunately for both, I've now got to wait at least 10 days for any of them to arrive. Hope the unseasonably warm weather we're having here continues for a few more weeks! I'll let you know how it worked out.

    • @MarvPerk3
      @MarvPerk3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @#CashHacks - Followup: It worked, fixed, at least for now! As per the above, I ordered a few impellers just to be safe. Although different brands, it looks to me they were identical and manufactured by the same people. Anyway, the first time I tried to shorten the ceramic shaft, I broke it into 3 pieces! Ooops! But that's why I ordered a few. When the next ones arrived, I tried cutting the shaft with a dremel cutting wheel as I had heard that was one way to do it. I got nowhere fast with that. I got metal cutting wheels, I don't know if they make wheels designed to cut ceramic, but the metal wheels did very little. Anyway, I went back to breaking and grinding the shaft like you did in your vid, I just was more careful this time and it worked perfectly. I kept the original rubber grommets (still in place) but added the washers that came with the new impeller. Finally, I decided to keep the old impeller as it didn't look too bad.
      Anyway, put it all back together without an issue, fired it up, and bingo, pumping! Topped off the water, added chems, ran the bubble for a little bit to mix everything around and finally turned on the heater and covered it up. Now all I have to do is wait for the water to warm, because after our recent cold spell, the water is starting out at 44° F! Not spa temps! But thanks for the great vid and helping me breathe life back into my Spa!

      @@ianheresany3648 I'm afraid I don't have the links anymore. You can try the links above that the video author used. I think I started there but got something a bit different. The good news is that it does fix the problem, but the bad news is that it only lasts for a while. I think my fix lasted for a few months before the same thing happened to the replacement impeller. I didn't want to do that every few months, so I gave up and trashed the spa.

    The best we csn determine is Intex changed the impeller interally somewhere in the middle of a manufacturing season/year. Thus the reason to please check size before ordering anything from all sites. I offer the smaller impeller. Happy to start carrying the larger one IF someone can guarantee me a fit and offer the correct manufacturer's part number.

    Good day. I ordered 2 of those impeller kits off Amazon. 48 hour delivery. Fantastic. With the tub empty, I took off the motor, and dropped in a new impeller and shaft, after trimming the new shaft. Filled the tub. Turned on the unit, went immediately to error 90. Took it all apart again, impeller was in right, turning free, put it back, same thing. Error 90. Didn't even try to start. So, plan B. Went to my local princess auto store and bought a small transfer pump and other bits and pieces. I spliced this pump into the lower hose on the pump unit, the one with the filter on it. Started the new pump, it works fine, Started the intex pump unit, no more error 90, it ran all night, temperature rose nicely as per spec, 2 degrees per hour. The original motor on the intex is 403M. Maybe these replacement impellers are not compatible with the 403M

    Hope this helps someone. I purchased a Active Aqua AAPWIMP550 impeller. It works perfectly and is very quiet. I had to trim the ceramic shaft (just held it with two pairs of pliers and snapped off the excess) and I had to trim the rubber bushings at the ends of the shaft. The original ones were too loose and the new ones were slightly too long. Just trim the "collar" portion off of the bushings. That's it! Works great! 👍 Hope this helps. This is the best video I have seen on this E90 thing. Intex is terrible. They know this is an issue and have no intention of correcting it... they continue to sell the same system. I have had all of the same issues you talk about here and have tried all the same things. Just wondering if this is still working for you. The longest I could get it to work was about a few months with the new impeller. Mine first broke about 3 mo after purchase. I made several attempts to make a claim with intex and they basically ignored me until the 1yr warranty was up. Been wrestling with it for a few years now. I'm at a point where I have retrofit a 12v DC Attwood Tsunami aerator pump into the system. Its working so far. I got the 500gph but would recommend the 800gph (T800). Mine seems a bit light on flow. You have to change the voltage from AC to DC but you can get a box to do that for $30 on amazon that I was able to fit in the base. The attwood pump fit in surprisingly well when at the right angle. Nice thing about the pump is it has a replaceable cartridge for about 15$ and the angle I installed it makes the cartridge easy to replace. Not sure how long it will last but, if you continue to have issues this may be another solution for you.

    I purchased the new impeller from AZPonds out of VA (about $20 with shipping). The new impeller shaft is indeed longer and you will need to plan on cutting ceramic. BUT, the new shaft for the new impeller is also a smaller diameter than the old shaft which I attempted to use because it was in good shape. Using an old shaft on a new impeller seems to be a non-starter. I'm not certain yet this will work since I'm reluctant to cut the new ceramic the way it was described in this video. Even without the shaft installed, the new impeller seems to be a bit longer than the old one which I threw away and cannot compare.

    Yes I agree with the other viewers , one of the best video but still the same problem not so much the rod. Mine didn't break but the Impeller and still haven't found one remotely close to the size . Anyway I'm might have another issues regarding the flow sensor it seems to spin without any noise. But the I get the Code E-90 and the water like I said is got a good flow before the error. My model is older ,only difference is the pump doesn't have the easy connection (black power cord) mine is direct connected to the circuit board. I hope yours is still working. It's been a couple of years since you did this video. And it's been a couple of years since I got to use mine. If you have any up dates I'm eager to know. I'm still hunting around. FYI I also cut a couple brass rods for back up, just in case.

    I have been using the Intex pool for two years for about 6 months a year and just pumped it to start using it for the third year. I noticed that the E90 error code says it is time to replace the filter that is in the housing inside the tub, under the lamp. It gets clogged after 2-4 weeks depending on how much hot tub is used. If you do not change the filter and try to use it by force, you will break the pump and there is that operation ahead.
