  • Got an E90 code? Here are some reasons for it and not just the ones you've heard before. I go over the temp sensors, filters, impeller rod, and water flow sensors and some tips along the way. These steps could be used for other spas as they employ similar ways of operation but parts may not be interchangeable.
    I suggest you buy these replacement parts now so you have them ready

      I am the poster of this video this is just my other account . Yeah they definitely don't want you you fixing too much of this on your own because of course then they couldn't sell the units.
      I'm glad that it worked for you and I actually bought four sensors so that I have two extras. But the last set that I replaced well over 2 years ago now is still working.

    Thank you so much for taking the time and effort for making this video and putting it on TH-cam for us to find the help we needed. Our Intex Pure Spa was turning off all of a sudden and we were left clueless, we had checked the filters, propeller, sensors, and everything else we could possibly check. What solved our problem was your tip of cleaning the inside of the heater tube, like you said, so much dirt had accumulated, it definitely impacted the water flow. Now it is up and running!! Thank you!

    My next door friends have an Intex PureSpa hot tub, and they're experiencing this after only one month of having the hot tub. And they had it a couple of weeks after having the hot tub. I'm reading the manual and watching these TH-cam videos to help them with this. I can't get into the hot tub, because I have a tracheotomy and I'm on a ventilator, however, I do something some people would consider unconventional, as well it IS unconventional. But essentially, I place one foot in the hot tub, and one hand. It allows me to enjoy the bennifits of the hot tub, even without being able to get into the hot tub. It's very nice. But now their hot tub is displaying Error Cde E-90 and so now I will do my absolute best to help them. They've let me use their hot tub in the way that I do, so I WANT to assist them as much as I possibly can!

    Your a life saver! I figured out the shaft problem 2 years ago and have been replacing with brass then when the actual impeller warped I had to purchase the impeller and stainless rod from someone on eBay in G.B last year. After setting up this year it would pump very slowly and would throw e90 code. After watching this I decided to take out the heater tube and it was almost completely plugged. Cleaned that out and it’s running great! Thanks!!!

    Thank you so much for this video. I was ready to buy a whole new hot tub till I saw your video in which you removed that part with the flapper that senses water flow. I took that off and the flapper part was fine, but in the tube there was wedged some kind of rubber grommet/gasket that must have been making the flapper stick. Don’t know how it would have gotten sucked in there, but there it was. It explains why I was getting a n E-90 error even though water was flowing; must have been partially flowing around the obstruction. I pulled it out and the tub is now happily filtering as it should. You just saved me a lot of money and time trying to hunt down a new pump that wouldn’t even have fixed this issue. Thanks!!!!

    Ha so i am also Troy (maker of this video, on my halloween acct) and my heater unit finally went bad enough that i went to replace it. I got a new one and got the e90. i sealed up the new heater gasket as the guy lied to me about barely using it and the gaskets were leaky. i repaired them with loctite waterproof clear sealant. after that still got the E90 and thought i'll go to my own video and go step by step. the water flow sensor near the out tube (top of tube) had no water flow flapper at all... replaced from the old unit and bam works great!!! glad this video has helped others and now even my self again!!! I'll be making a new video with updated links as the guy who sells the flappers got a new website so stay tuned!!!

    Troy My spa is about 2 years old, when I turn on my filters or the heater, it goes on for some seconds or even a few minutes some times and then it trips. It does not trip the GFCI there is still power in the panel but it trips as if I had shut clicked the off button in the panel, stops the filter and stops the heater, no error code just shows 888 in the panel as it does when you energize the head unit. When is on there is normal water flow and when the heater is on it is demanding about 13 amps so everything seems fine but it still trips, Any idea what I could try to solve this?

    • @troycriv1524
      @troycriv1524  ปีที่แล้ว

      So i've never had mine do the 888.. that sounds like something in the board behind the panel (might have gotten wet, it's not a very good seal back there) or something has gotten into the base, maybe a mouse. I would tear it apart and check all the connections and for loose or damaged wires. demanding 13 amps is way too high and is likely due to a short. i would stop using it until you find the wiring issues. i don't think anything in my video will help with that, but please report back what you find

    For the E90 Error code inspect the impeller and rod. Impeller and rod are sold on Ebay. Search E90 error, the rod commonly breaks and can be brass and other non magnetic materials. Best to replace rod and impeller while unit is apart

    Hi, I know this is a bit old, but I took my hot tub out of storage, set it up and got the e90 error. Did everything on this video and can't find the problem (all parts look fine and I cleaned the heating tube). E90 still persisting. Thing is, it doesn't make a sound when I turn it on, just displays the E90 within seconds of turning on heat or filter. Any suggestions?

    • @troycriv1524
      @troycriv1524  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok so does the pump turn on? Can you hear that at least? Turn on just the filter and if the pump isn't working that's your first problem. You can buy those from Intex still.
      Start it up with the cover removed so you can see if there are leaks. A leak can cause it too. Mine just did it too and I ran the filter for a second and then hit the heating button super fast and it stayed going. A blocked filter tube from the tub to base can cause it. 90 means no water flow or restricted. Also the out flow white round screen in the tub can clog up and cause it too. The crap in the heater goes into that screen and mine has said e90 on that too. I'm updating the video this weekend too

    Do you know the diameter of the impeller shaft? I have read where it is 1/8th inch but, it doesn't look that thick. Why not use a TIG welding electrode? Just cut it to the proper length. It's made of tungsten so, it's non-magnetic and really tough. Brass is too soft, in my opinion.
    They come in 8 sizes:
    .020" (0.5mm)
    .040" (1mm)
    1/16" (1.6mm)
    3/32" (2.4mm)
    1/8" (3.2mm)
    5/32" (4mm)
    3/16" (4.8mm)
    1/4" (6.4mm)
    1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" are the most common sizes used. Most come in 7" lengths. All welding supply stores carry them and I've seen them in Lowe's.
    Just thinking about a long-term solution to a common problem.

    • @troycriv1524
      @troycriv1524  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So if it's doing this out of the box, you need to return it or call intex and have them send you out a new control base, but DO NOT throw this one away. Keep it. The spare parts alone will save you tons of time and money. It still is one of the issues i talk about in this video though, flow sensor, clogged filter, heat sensor, or the metal rod in the impeller motor. But if you just got this tub, get them to replace it.

    I get an e90 error code. Replaced impeller but still had e90 code. Took a part again and tested. Put the intake of the pump in a pile of water and started. The new pump ran but did not pump water through the return. Anyone have a reason why it wouldn't pump with a new impeller and shaft?

    • @ScareHollow
      @ScareHollow 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So it could be the flow sensors that are mentioned in the video. Or the heater is very clogged. These heaters have a coating that flakes and such over time and can clog up the system.

      cleaning them may not do the trick. i had to replace them as the insides of the housing can get bad or moldy and then not connect. they are magnets and once it connects it says the water is flowing. so if the magnet inside has gunk it won't connect. mine looked amazingly clean yet didn't work. once i replaced the sensors it works.

      That seems like an electrical issue with the actual power supply inside the base. I would check all the connections, make sure everything is tight and dry. Usually that type of issue is purely electrical and maybe a short or exposed wire is there.

      you don't you take off the cap with all the screws and the wires come off that. in my video you'll see the black wire going into the mound of white stuff, that is the temp sensor that goes to the heater. otherwise you just disconnect the electrical wire at the back panel that go to the heater. you unscrew it and the wire should slide off that panel.
