Selfish people usually try to justify their selfish behavior by claiming their EX was abusive either physically or emotionally. Beware of dating people that are always talking about how they have "moved on"; they usually leave a trail of destruction behind them. Make it a point to know how many relationships people have "moved on" from before getting serious with them. They are likely to repeat the same dysfunctional behavior that ruined their previous relationships.

Don't focus so much on the fairness as much as the message. I'm not a Christian, but this is one of the best marriage improvement series I have watched. It has been even more helpful than marriage counseling, which did not explain the root causes of our issues so much as how not to offend one another as much.
If my people , who are called by my name , will humble themselves, and pray ,and turn from thier wicked ways ; then I will hear from heaven and heal thier land .

There are some things I really like about this. The selfishness part is spot on. While I’m not speaking about all men, I think a lot of times they can be insensitive and selfish and this is because of our society, and what they are and aren’t taught. Men generally aren’t taught to express their feelings or be as involved in the upkeep of the home and kids as women are. I think women are more apt to sacrifice their own needs for the betterment of the family than men at times. But as women we do need to make sure we take care of ourselves too. What I would challenge is his statement that marriage is supposed to make you happy and you are able to meet to each other’s needs. We can definitely meet some, but not all. God has to fill in the rest or send us other people like friends, family, etc. I can’t think of a Bible verse that supports either of these claims. While it’s awesome to gain happiness and satisfaction from your marriage, that is not his foremost purpose. It is to glorify him, procreate and have companionship.

My wife told me 1 and half week ago that she is done with me and would like to start separation asap. In reply to an earlier comment : marriage was created by God and can be read about in the Bible -- therefore this lesson is based on "Bible and Stuff", which is the standard for those who profess to "believe and stuff". How can "God/marriage/Bible" be separated? It is all intertwined.

Check out Patrick Doyle on the doveTV on TH-cam. He’s a Christian counselor and he’s pretty awesome. He holds abusive people and narcissist and all the other unrepentant people responsible for their actions. He speaks the truth and gives people real solutions of what to do.

Jimmy Evans is great! he is a bible teaching kinda guy. so I congratulate those who don't read the bible much for listening to his message, the messages really are pretty good and just practical. fyi everyone and everything that sits in the building of a church isnt necessarily a follower of Christ. by definition the "church" is a body of people who believe in Jesus and are willing to follow His example. (yes, I go to church lol But I go for me and my relationship with Christ)...

I am blessed listening to you brother Jimmy. I am struggling really hard to REBUILD my broken marriage. Lord has brought me this far to get back to my husband in obedience but I have tons to endure. Really need more of your counsel. The more I allow my LORD to BUILD the more the devil PULLS it down. I remember a moment before I walked down the aisle and the door was still closed, I had a sudden panic I never felt before that I was about to die. My life raced through my mind and body like I was about to jump into an exploding volcano into darkness while my brother held my hand gently and remained silent. He is already married and the look on his face and gestures made me feel safe and protected. I was right, even though my father warned me long ago too!

I have been married for 29 years we are both believer's my husband is so knowledgeable in the Bible and spends all day studying and watching U tube but I struggle with the rejection that he controls the relationship he only gives when he thinks it's enough he doesn't love me the way Christ says to love your wife I work alot and he won't even help with housework he choose to be Martha and is happy to burden me with all the work and says he's putting God first any advise out there as I am always on an emotional rollercoaster

I married the wrong person. No matter what I do my husband has not been satisfied to the point that I don’t even know who I am anymore. I’m ready to give up but I keep trying to hang on in hopes that one day, things will get better.
I have separated for three years now as my wife walked out 13 months after I loss my career job. Although I supported her and two kids as she went to school and now has a career job I lost everything. I thought marriage was about helping one another in sickness and health as was stated in our vows ? I was denied health care by her bcuz she said it was too costly for her. My spouse is now 40 and I am 12 yes older and unfortunately I have lost everything but she appears to be living her best life without me, traveling, dating, shopping, while I struggle. My spouse is both selfish, self absorbed, and stubborn. I have always loved my wife, please pray for us and our broken marriage. Thank you in advance.

Eh I think you need an impartial perspective sometimes. Some people really are good spouses, but a manipulative or an emotionally abusive person will constantly gaslight their spouse and tell that person that he or she is not a good spouse. Also, two spouses can meet each other's needs as long as their needs are reasonable. Some Christians expect their spouse to do what only God can do. If a person is not getting their joy or their sense of validation from God, a spouse cannot give that to them.

It would be nice if all people in marriage could have the wake up that Pastor Jimmy had. Unfortunately that is not the case. I am in a 30+ year marriage and I have done my share of wrongs and I own them. My husband will not do anything but, justify. When I try to talk to him about our situation he says"life is not a bed of roses" or 'we are just like other people our age". We have no affection warmth or intimacy in our marriage. He acts as if it is just normal to sleep in separate rooms. I have been to counseling but, he will not go. I have even left for a 3 week period. I don't know what else to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

pray for me my husband and I been married 6 year's on August 27 this year I take care of him and my 7 children by cooking and cleaning always submit myself to my husband I worked when he couldn't work to take care of our family the first 3 years of marriage and he had to play as if he was house wife by him having to do that I never miss a birthday a father's day a Christmas Valentines day or just doing something to say he's important and I appreciated him we eventually relocated to another state where now he has a good job and and now a stay home mom and wife and I haven't got a mother's day, Christmas, valentine day , happy anniversary, birthday or anything ever from him I'm not saying the I am looking for him to spend money on me that not what I'm asking but some flowers a card or a note or something to so I'm important and special I know he works 5 days out of the week but the 2 off days he has he doesn't take me anywhere he plays video games all day long I fix dinner and he eats beside the video game and not me he plays his game until he's sick of it and than want me to be submissive to him he pays bills and cleaning supplies for our home and anything he might want and need but nothing for me he does sometimes give me money but he always finds away to take it back from me so some times family and friends give me money and I don't tell him because he'll need it for something he happy but I'm lonely and sad this marriage may not last 7 year's

My point was for those of us who ARE Christians and believe in the Bible teachings, (should) have it as their form of standard and faith to go by. Believe it or not, Christians aren't the only people allowed to marry. The matters discussed here are sociologically-based and thus universally applicable, regardless of one's faith (if any). You come off as smug, self-righteous, and intolerant of anyone who does not share your views. Pretty ironic, considering the man around whom your religion is centered was anything but.
There are soo many videos you can watch that are not faith-based, if that is what bothers you. Don't understand negative comments like this because you are in control of what you watch- so what is the point of complaining?
