Why most rice farmers are still transplanting by hand hardly instead of use mechanized planters? Because they have not find suitable, workable and affordable planters although those planters are excellent, but they have high requests against:
    1) Rice seedlings.
    2) Paddy field.
    3) Operating.
Seedlings must standardised and growing in plastic tray. All traditional rice seedlings can not be used. Paddy field must suitable for those planters. Farmers must have superb operating skills.
But very few farmers and areas can follow these requests.
In the other hand, most of them are too costly for most farmers.
    Thank you for watching.

Sad we can not have markets for other crops like soya beans. I thought soya beans were in short supply in Kenya. One can use soya beans for animal feeds for beef, cattle, pigs, chicken etc. Soya has so many uses. Even as a milk product. Whats wrong with us in Kenya we have all these assets but can not figure how to use them yet we complain of high ffed costs and import from TZ and UG. Why not get with animal feed producers to buy soyabean.

So we still import rice but with support of govt having a revolving fund these farmers can esnure food security. But our priorites are always spend billions on politics and everything will fall in place. And this goes for other crops like wheat which we import leaving our farmers to suffer. We are blessed to have a country that can produce anything but we do not respect this blessing and take it for granted. Kenya should not be importing any food like maize, rice and even sugar we should be net exporters ifthe govt can put its head togather and realize whats important. It can not be investing resources on poltics at the expense of whats good for 55m Kenyans
